  1. Thanks for all the tips, but we decided to do the Escape trip the following week...NY to NY. It’s just easier to get round trip rather than one way home from Quebec City. Although the Distinctive Voyages would offer some additional perks...most of it we wouldn’t be able to use. The airlines perk alone would have cost us 3-4x what we could have booked on our own even with the air allowance. So...the cruise we booked isn’t quite as grand as this one...it’s still the same area and we are excited to cruise again!

  2. I don't know if you noticed that the cruise up from NYC turns around and goes back on virtually the same port

track. So you board at NYC and fly home from Quebec or board at Quebec and fly home from NYC - you are

half way between betwixed bothered and bewildered.

The AAA has advised me that the prime time for Fall Foliage viewing is late September early October if this helps !

Yes, you see...we are from Syracuse which actually sits almost mid way from NYC and Quebec City. So either way we aren’t far from home...between 5-7 hours depending on which way it goes. And living in Syracuse...the leaf peeping will be about 2 weeks behind our own here at home...that’s why we figured that the week of 9/8 might be a little premature, but better temp wise than the later trips in October.

I’m really interested if anyone has taken advantage of a Distinctive Voyage perks cruise. Thanks for your insight...and I’ll keep it in mind!

  3. am guessing you will be the 1st and only person that takes a cruise that starts in NYC and commences in Quebec City' date=' let us know how that works[/b']

    :)

Suffering from data overload LOL !

Pointing out the benefits of the options.

The one-way to Quebec earns no special favors - the return however to NYC does.

Currently booked on the DAWN leaving 10/12 Boston Quebec Boston B2B sailing returning Boston 10/26

Have looked at many angles of putting together a Fall Foliage Package and finally settled on this sequence.

So I get standard points going and double points returning.

I looked at the GEM doing the B2B NYC Quebec and return and can't swing the time - it is just a few days

over three weeks to do that - a week longer than I have available.

Interesting the ports visited on a one way trip.

Exactly what we were thinking. Great ports...and there’s 10 of them! My best friend and I have looked at Fall cruises in the past but they didn’t have as many ports and seemd a little pricey for mostly at sea days. This seems better and 11 days...not bad when you break it down. ...and...we’re in Syracuse...midway between NY and Quebec... the Distinctive Voyages package has additional perks that can be combined with the regular perks and include vouchers toward airfare and hotel among other things. We also thought that the earlier dates would be better weather and for the fall views. Believe me...we’re used to the weather so a little cooler is expected. We will decide in the next day or two...

In all seriousness looks like a fun itinerary.

🤣😂 oops...you know what I meant...starts in NY ends in Quebec City...

  5. Considering booking this cruise. It’s 11 days and begins in NYC and commences in Quebec City on the Gem. Has anyone else taken this itinerary before? Looks awesome with 10 ports. Any info in helping us decide would be helpful. This is also a Norwegian “Distinctive Voyage” Cruise...any pointers or experiences with that will be helpful as well. Looking at a midship balcony.

    Thank you! Tami

  6. I copied this from the cruise ship deckplans site:

Next drydock in Feb 10 to Mar 2, 2017 to have extensive updates to public areas and staterooms.

I also read this somewhere on the NCL site.

... I had read somewhere that the Pearl dry dock was supposed to be late '17 so if it's 2/17 it's good news for me! I'm booked on the 3/2-3/10/17 cruise!

  7. I called 10 days out and upgraded 3 insides to mini suites for $300 each (150pp). Granted, this was for a January sailing and there were MANY rooms vacant.

I'll also throw in - one of the rooms was booked through a travel agent, and two of the rooms weren't even in my name. No problem upgrading all 3 - they'll take your CC # and charge for all.

**i hope I'm on the ship you decide to upgrade! Lol

After I win the Powerball, I'm going to call Upsell all day and randomly upgrade insides to haven. Then I'll sit back and wait for the "there goes the neighborhood" thread to start. Simple pleasures.

  8. Your question is discussed on this board every day - try the search function.

Lots of shared shuttles competing for your business in the morning going from FLL to POM - most list the FLL area hotels they will pick up at on their web sites. Fares start at about $15 per person each way. The later in the day you arrive, the fewer shuttles available to take you to downtown Miami hotels (closest to POM) and the higher the fares will go.

Taxi from the FLL area to POM will run about $75-80+tip Uber will make the same trip for between $40-50 unless surge pricing is in effect.

We prefer to stay in the FLL area and head to POM the morning of the cruise - others insist on staying in Miami and using a taxi to get from their downtown hotel to POM. If you want to stay in South Beach a taxi, Uber or rental car are your best bets -- not many shuttles taking folks there.

Thank you for the information! I'm new to CC...didn't know I could search it. Thank you

  9. If you stay in Fort Lauderdale not all shuttles service all hotels. So before you book, look at that. Otherwise you'd need to cab back to the airport or a nearby hotel to be picked up.

I checked on valuetrips.com and the Hyatt Place in Ft. L is available for $149. That includes shuttle from airport and breakfast. Not sure if shuttles to POM stop there.

Looking downtown Miami, Hampton Inn in Brickell (downtown) $174. But the Hampton Inn in Coconut Grove/Coral Gables is $132. These both are using the Honors rate which you can join when you book. Both hotels popular.

Since we have been in Fort L many times, we always prefer to head straight to the Miami area upon arrival if sailing from there.

  10. I'm on the Pearl (balcony cabin) in the spring...was wondering the same...so the coffee maker is a "loose" coffee maker not a pod/Keurig type maker? And it's complimentary?

The last time I cruised it was a birthday present from my sister and her family and we had a family suite...the works.. (Kinda spoiled me...lol) so I'm not familiar what is charged to your room and what's complimentary. Also...does anyone have or know how I can get an actual pic of a midship balcony stateroom on the Pearl?

  11. The Pearl will be in dry dock at some point between Feb 6, 2017 and March 10, 2017.

The Sixthman Walker Stalker Charter is on the Pearl from Feb 2-6 and the Pitbull charter is on the Pearl March 10-13. All the charters in between are on the Jade out of Tampa instead to accommodate the dry dock.

Pearl is scheduled for a Western Caribbean cruise out of Miami for 3/3-3/10/17. So excited to go...it's a BFF girls vacation for me and my friends. I sailed on the Jewel over Christmas in 2014.... Couldn't wait to get back on a ship!
