  1. Very cool! Thanks!

I'm not sure where I read that the drydock was happening in Galveston (I looked for the post but can't find it now, maybe it was removed when the poster realized their mistake) but Freeport makes a lot more sense!

I can't wait to see it all bright and shiny and new!

Do you think they replace all the carpeting in all the rooms and stuff? Or just the main areas?

  2. My family just got back from the Breeze and my sister and her husband came home to an email from his dad stating that he had booked a cruise for the entire family on the Conquest next May. Will this be a disappointment for them going from the Breeze, or are there things about the Conquest that make it appealing as well? Any idea if there are plans to add a Water Works or other amenities? It looks like it has Guy's burgers and the Blue Iguana Cantina, but that's about it.

  3. I won't say it was completely useless as it did sometimes work and was useful. However, it was just extremely unreliable. Sometimes the messages would come through hours or days later. We were in a group of 40 and some people would receive some texts and not others, while others never got any from the group. Anyway, the reviews on iTunes are in fact correct. I hope it evolves to be something great, because it really is useful when it does work, but for now, it definitely leaves much to be desired.

  4. So all those concerns you posted previously didn't materialize.

Did the 39 others whose travel you arranged enjoy their cruise also?

Yep. All was well. :) now I can help ease the concerns of others. Haha. I think all but 2 really enjoyed it. The 2 that didn't concluded that they are just beach people, not boat people.

  5. Have they fixed any of the non-operational items in the Waterworks area? We were on the Breeze in February and was disappointed in how few of the water features (tipping bucket, water jets, etc) were actually working. I was wondering if they were waiting until drydock to make the repairs.

All of them must have been fixed because they all worked just fine!

  6. We are booked on the same cruise in June. Thanks for agreeing to answer questions. What did you do in each port? How was the temp in your cabin? We are booked for the steakhouse the first night onboard at 6pm, will this time interfere with sail away party or other activities?

In mahogany bay we went to Mayan Eden to see the monkeys and butterflies and loved it. We then went back on the ship to eat lunch and to change into our swimsuits and then went to the beach by the boat. This was definitely our favorite port. We didn't get off the boat in Belize and didn't regret it. There were a bunch of issues with the tender boats that day and most excursions didn't get back until after we were supposed to set sail. In Cozumel we went to the shops in the port and then went to paradise beach (we only paid for the taxi to get there. The beach was adequate, not nothing amazing.)

We are in the dining room at 6 pm the first night and it was just fine. Didn't interfere with anything. We just didn't have our luggage yet!

Temp in the cabin was great. You can control it yourself. We were in 8367.

  7. I'll be on the Breeze in 89 days with my 2 daughters. How was it? Crowded? Sushi good? What did you do in Cozumel? What kind of room did you have? We are in 2366. Just out from under galley. Wonder if I should ask to move forward a bit.

Okay, there is a few questions.lol

You will love it, especially since it will have gone through dry dock. It was still in good condition, but the carpets were in need of replacement. I'd be interested to hear your review when you come back to see if they replaced all the carpets (even in the rooms), repainted the decks and sports court areas, etc. We were there during spring break and I didn't find it any more crowded than any of our past cruises. The thing is, there are crowded times in certain areas, but we just avoid them during those times. The Lido by the beach pool is super loud and crowded during lunch time on sea days so we did our best to avoid going there during those times, and we enjoyed the pools and waterworks on port days when everyone was off the boat (we didn't get off the boat in Belize and came back early in Cozumel to swim and play - my kids are 9, 6, and 2). The Lido is also super empty at night by the buffets. We always went up and played cards and I love the vibe up there at night. We had a great time and love that ship. Deck 5 is still my favorite due to the fact that it is quiet and perfect for a pleasant stroll and less crowded hot tubs.

In Cozumel we shopped at the shops by the boat and then caught a taxi to paradise beach. This was not the plan. Our plan was to go to playa azul, but the taxi service was clearly getting paid off by different beach clubs to promote them (we realized this after the fact) and he talked us out of playa azul. I think it would have been fine. He kept saying we needed to go to ocean club, but when we showed up it was awful, so we told the taxi driver to take us to paradise beach, which was right next door. We didn't use any of the amenities, so we didn't pay for anything other than the taxi. The beach was ok. It was crowded, but when we walked down the shore away from the beach chairs, we found some quiet space, played for an hour or so and then went back. Taxi cost us $15 each way. Beaches there aren't super nice unless you go to the east side, but then you pay a lot more to get there, so you could either skip the beach altogether and be fine, or just pay for the taxi to get to paradise and skip paying for the amenities, walk down the shore to find a quieter area, and it can be done for a reasonable price.

We stayed in 8367. Great location. Not sure about deck 2.

  8. Im sure it will be fixed. They arent going to put "fix waterworks" on the list of drydock work because that would broadcast the fact that its in crappy shape =)

Just off the Breeze today and everything in the waterworks worked great, even the big bucket. I guess they decided to fix it even before dry dock.

  9. We're sailing on the Breeze out of Galveston this Sunday. Weather is showing thunderstorms, 90% precip, and 20mph winds on Sunday. Does anyone know if these weather conditions are likely to create a problem for docking/sailing as scheduled on Sunday?

We will be on the same sailing as you. I have also noticed that Mahogany Bay will have 25-30 mph winds in the a.m on the 5th. I'm wondering what the chances are of having to skip this port due to high winds and waves? This is the one I wanted to visit the most, so I'm hoping we can still dock despite the wind.

  10. I can't imagine this should be a deal-breaker. We had a big family cruise on the Breeze a few years ago and the Waterworks was all working, but none of the kids who were on that cruise even remember the guns. A few remember a bucket pouring water, but that's it. The slides are what they remember. The person who claimed they were broken said just a few guns were non-operational, as well as the big bucket, but many of the other guns and smaller buckets still worked. I would imagine your kids wouldn't even notice. All the waterworks areas on all the ships are different, anyway...some have certain kinds of slides that others don't, or guns, or buckets, and I'm certain kids aren't coming home saying "That sucked that we only had 4 guns, instead of 6, 8, or 16?!" They won't even think twice about it if you don't point it out, and even then they probably won't care.

  11. Does Carnival allow you to use the slides and other venues when it's raining or do the indoor areas just get really crowded? I'm assuming even if it does rain more than normal, we will still see the sun occasionally, right? Also, with all the rain, will this make the ship rock a lot more? I have never taken motion sickness meds on a cruise because I have never needed them, but should I plan to with the forecast as it is? (Galveston - Thunderstorms, wind on Sunday, Mahogany Bay - Partly Cloudy, Cozumel - Clouds and PM Thunderstorms, Belize - partly cloudy/rain).

  12. :fever:

I checked with my employer benefits department. Both of our medical plan offerings (high and low tier) do cover both emergency and non-emergency medical care on the ship and on the islands. I offer this in the event "most US healthcare does not cover ship board or on island care" was an assumption rather than findings from actual stats.

I have found the same. Our insurance works the same out of the country, on ships, etc. as it does at home. My family members have checked with their insurance companies and the same can be said for them as well. The only difference is we might be charged out-of-network prices for non-emergency medical care. As for getting a rx before we go, we have high deductible insurance, so I don't exactly want to spend $100+ for a dr. visit and rx if I don't end up needing it. I just wanted to make sure they would have the antibiotics on the ship in the event they are needed.
