Hello!
We are looking into cruises next Summer (July/August 2024) and contemplating an Alaska cruise as we've never done it before. We have been on Caribbean cruises plenty of times on RCL and the kids have loved it. I'm wondering what your thoughts are if we are to take them to Alaska? Would they be bored? What have your experience been like with kids 9 and 11?
Also, since we are from Toronto, we'll need to make our way to Vancouver or Seattle. Vancouver would be the smaller Radiance class whereas Seattle is the Ovation/Quantum class. We have only done Oasis and Quantum classes in the past so not sure how a smaller ship will be (in terms of kids entertainment). What have you done in the past and what do you recommend? TIA!

Anyone know if rainforest is still operating? I've emailed them but have not heard back...

Wondering what some vendor options are for ziplining? Is it suitable for kids 7 years old and up? How is transportation arranged? TIA!

Has the Anthem been kitted up with Starlink yet?

We did not request a ride in Bayonne until after having disembarked, clearing immigration and customs, and standing outside at the curb. As noted, it required only a few minutes. I would not want to inconvenience drivers with the uncertainties involved, especially with immigration and customs (who knows if I get selected for complete inspection?), so usually I am most comfortable not requesting service until I am ready for it. Even in the opposite direction, while on the train to Bayonne, we will not request service to Cape Liberty Cruise Port while still on the train (it could get delayed enroute!), and we request service only once having arrived at the train station in Bayonne..
Thanks. That's what we are leaning towards but wasn't sure if it would be hectic with so many others disembarking on the same day.

Do you call for a ride when you disembark? or is this pickup prearranged?
-
Which one is suitable for kids (youngest is 8)?

Is it possible to pre-arrange for UberXL in advance as we are not sure we'll have data. Or maybe it's ok to call for them when we are in the terminal.....

Sorry to start this thread as the answer is probably in one of threads but I tried searching to no avail. We are cruising out of Cape Liberty in January and will be flying into EWR the day before. We will stay at a hotel close to the airport so airport shuttle should be included. I'm seeking transportation options for:
1) hotel to cruise port on cruise day
2) on disembarkation, cruise port straight to EWR airport to catch a 1:30pm flight
There will be 3 adults + 2 kids.
TIA!

We did this a few years ago. Stayed at Best Western Newark and parked our car at the hotel for the duration of the cruise (took a shuttle to/from the hotel and port).

In previous cruises we gave the room steward cash (not in the envelope) on the last day of the cruise. On our recent cruise we tipped half way and at the end. Another family we travelled with tipped daily. There is no right or wrong to tip/not tip/tip frequency....

I'm assuming the Thrill Waterpark passes can be cancelled before 48 hours correct? About to pull the trigger but want to doublecheck.

Sorry about the sidetracked question about Voom (I didn't want to create a new thread). I previously bought a package but see it at a lower price now. How do I cancel the previous purchase?

Seems they are quite backed up. Sent in a request last week and still waiting to hear back.

Yes you can short cut though the parking garage to walk to Publix or Total Wine. We do it all the time. We love Hyatt Place and have been there at least 5 times now for a cruise.
Curious how long is the walk from hotel to Publix?

Hello, going to tack my question onto this thread as I don't want to start a new one for something that may have been asked before. Is it possible for just 1 of us to get the refreshment package (2 adults + 2 kids)? Or does everyone need to get it?

Hello, me again! So it looks like for the return flight on Saturday is much cheaper from FLL vs MIA. Would it be safe to book a 14:30 flight out of FLL?
-
So far it sounds like there's no issue/anxiety with getting to POM from a FLL hotel the morning of. 😁

Hello! Apologies for posting a scenario that has probably been brought up multiple times but hoping for some suggestion. We (2 adults, 2 kids) have a cruise in Aug leaving from Miami. We will be flying in from Canada. It looks like a lot of flights are going into FLL instead of MIA. We plan to fly in the day before so our options look like:
1) stay in a popular FLL cruise hotel on Friday and get transported to MIA port on Saturday
2) stay in a MIA cruise hotel on Friday and get transported to port on Saturday
Which one is better?
On the return we would like to find a flight out of Miami (instead of FLL due to the extra travel time). What's a safe cut off time (ie, nothing earlier than 1pm) in order to make it onto the flight?
TIA!

And if a standardized "PASSPORT" or one that is easily verified with a scan is used, the passengers attempting to board should be refused boarding with NO REFUND OF THE ENTIRE CRUISE PAYMENT.

I question the stupidity of someone forging a card possibly to get on a cruise. Here's a scenario. You get a negative covid test 72 hrs pre cruise. You travel to the cruise and possibly get covid in those 72 hrs. Then you are on the ship and either start showing symptoms or you are tested positive prior to disembarking for your travel home. You now have to explain about that faked vaccine card. Is it really worth it?
Probably worth it to people who are against vaccines but love cruising....

I don't see how these cards cannot be easily forged. They need to come up with a better system (something similar to a passport scan, biometric, etc......).

Just build it into the fare already. Those who can/wants to tip gets to go on a cruise. Those who can't/don't want to tip gets to go do something else with their money.
