  1. Hello!

We are looking into cruises next Summer (July/August 2024) and contemplating an Alaska cruise as we've never done it before.  We have been on Caribbean cruises plenty of times on RCL and the kids have loved it.  I'm wondering what your thoughts are if we are to take them to Alaska?  Would they be bored?  What have your experience been like with kids 9 and 11?

Also, since we are from Toronto, we'll need to make our way to Vancouver or Seattle.  Vancouver would be the smaller Radiance class whereas Seattle is the Ovation/Quantum class.  We have only done Oasis and Quantum classes in the past so not sure how a smaller ship will be (in terms of kids entertainment).  What have you done in the past and what do you recommend?  TIA!

We did not request a ride in Bayonne until after having disembarked, clearing immigration and customs, and standing outside at the curb. As noted, it required only a few minutes. I would not want to inconvenience drivers with the uncertainties involved, especially with immigration and customs (who knows if I get selected for complete inspection?), so usually I am most comfortable not requesting service until I am ready for it. Even in the opposite direction, while on the train to Bayonne, we will not request service to Cape Liberty Cruise Port while still on the train (it could get delayed enroute!), and we request service only once having arrived at the train station in Bayonne..

Thanks.  That's what we are leaning towards but wasn't sure if it would be hectic with so many others disembarking on the same day.

  3. Sorry to start this thread as the answer is probably in one of threads but I tried searching to no avail.  We are cruising out of Cape Liberty in January and will be flying into EWR the day before.  We will stay at a hotel close to the airport so airport shuttle should be included.  I'm seeking transportation options for:

    1) hotel to cruise port on cruise day

    2) on disembarkation, cruise port straight to EWR airport to catch a 1:30pm flight

There will be 3 adults + 2 kids.

    TIA!

Yes you can short cut though the parking garage to walk to Publix or Total Wine. We do it all the time. We love Hyatt Place and have been there at least 5 times now for a cruise.

Curious how long is the walk from hotel to Publix?

  5. Hello!  Apologies for posting a scenario that has probably been brought up multiple times but hoping for some suggestion.  We (2 adults, 2 kids) have a cruise in Aug leaving from Miami.  We will be flying in from Canada.  It looks like a lot of flights are going into FLL instead of MIA.  We plan to fly in the day before so our options look like:

    1) stay in a popular FLL cruise hotel on Friday and get transported to MIA port on Saturday

    2) stay in a MIA cruise hotel on Friday and get transported to port on Saturday

    Which one is better?

On the return we would like to find a flight out of Miami (instead of FLL due to the extra travel time).  What's a safe cut off time (ie, nothing earlier than 1pm) in order to make it onto the flight?

    TIA!

I question the stupidity of someone forging a card possibly to get on a cruise.  Here's a scenario.  You get a negative covid test 72 hrs pre cruise.  You travel to the cruise and possibly get covid in those 72 hrs.  Then you are on the ship and either start showing symptoms or you are tested positive prior to disembarking for your travel home.  You now have to explain about that faked vaccine card.  Is it really worth it?

Probably worth it to people who are against vaccines but love cruising....
