  1. They seem to be slow offering this year from UK. Looked back at emails from last year prior to booking our Oasis cruise and the are dates when available last year it hasn't been

Suspect due to value of pound. Will be looking out for promos on drink packages as I think I can't cope without in Caribbean :D

Yes and prices are still stubbornly high.£6000 ($9000) for four in the Med next year.

  2. Just back from the 26th June sailing.

few hints and tips. If you want to book excursions, do it before you go. Big queues at excursions desk all the time-which was a real novelty to me as I tend to go on the Med cruises. Some of the St petersburg were actually sold out on day 2.

Copenhagen is like one giant building site and VERY congested. Hop on hop off, took 2 hours to go to city centre and back. We got off at Tivoli and really didn't have enough time. If you want to see the best, stay on past Tivoli and this brings you to the famous multi coloured houses street. Do NOT expect all of copenhagen to be like that. Modern city, faceless buildings-bit of a disappointment actually.

  3. Navigator won't fit under the new bridge.

Serenade goes the long way round as well. On Serenade they did say it can fit under at low tide but I cannot confirm if it has done it or not. The Oresund bridge is really nice. We got a great view of it from the Blu Planet

if this is the main bridge between Sweden and Denmark it does fit. We sailed under it with about 9 metres (more like 9 feet) to spare. Very spectacular considering you are simply going under a bridge.

  4. Well I wouldn't be offended at all if you asked. Everyone is different and you don't know until you ask. No reason for anyone to get insulted, they can just say no. (I am also assuming your other cabin is around midship. It would be harder to ask to trade for a location far from the original, for ex. all the way aft)

But since you don't want to call RC back, or ask onboard, the only thing left is to try to get cabins next to each other (that's all that is currently left). There are several cabins directly next to each other. Call and ask to put you into two of those cabins.

google 'book your cruise online' and find the site that shows you the available cabins on the deckplans. Easiest way to see your options right in front of you.

thanks. I have phoned RC and I am now in that catch 22 of "Nothing to do with us, contact your travel agent" Travel agent - "nothing to do with us, contact RC"

  5. Has not one single blessed thing to do wth being 'willing to help others' or not. And I too would be offended if somebody asked. Failure to plan on your part does not constitute and emergency on my part. Now, if the other cabin had ALSO been a guarantee, then there would be an expectation that being moved is a possibility. But if the other two cabins were linked with a note asking for them to be near, then no one owes anyone bending over backwards after the fact.

I'm so glad that you and paulxyz decided to contribute positively to my predicament, well actually it was a simple question. For your information I didn't fail to plan. I simply didn't understand what I was booking. Made a mistake, yes I did. hanging offence and the cause of such outrage from you and Paul - no not really. Of course you have never made a mistake I presume.

Think I need to start being outraged at people being outraged. Trust me, have a heart attack at the age of 50 and you start to see things in perspective and being asked a simple question about PERHAPS changing a cabin, by anyone (WHICH I DO NOT INTEND TO DO) isn't something that you should get outraged over.

Maybe the other cabin is a guarantee cabin-how would I find that out-your chance to contribute positively or are you still outraged at a mere question?

  6. I doubt the " the other person" would have specifically chosen an adjoining cabin, therefore they have probably been allocated it under the guarantee system too. I have friends who were allocated rooms on opposite sides of the ship. They asked Rci if they could contact the person in the rooms either side of these rooms, to ask if they would mind swapping. Rci got in touch with both and yes, one party did swap. So that story had a happy ending.

I would call again, and ask again.

To be honest I kind of thought that. However, still don't really want any awkwardness and the traditional British "reserve" of not asking....

  7. Somehow *I* missed some important details.

It is completely against Royal Caribbean's policies to allow two 12 year olds to be in their own cabin unless it is adjoining, connecting, or directly across the hall from their parents' cabin.

I therefore assume that you booked your spouse and one child in one JS and yourself and the other child in the other JS.

I would NOT put my 12 year olds "a bit further along the corridor"...........and neither would RC.

Is that how you booked, hobbyco?

No I am in one with a 12 year old and my wife is in the other with a 12 year old. Not sure why some people have interpreted it any other way. My surname isn't McCann!! (cue some outrage.....)

  8. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply.

I had thought of asking the people on boarding day but as many of you have pointed out it might be a bit awkward and I wouldn't like to be put in that position myself so I don't think I will do that. However, equally, I wouldn't have chosen an inter connecting room as a matter of choice and would struggle to see why anyone would. However, each to their own.

To answer the query about why did I choose a guarantee cabin. I didn't actually know what a guarantee cabin was at the time of booking but I will the next time!

I might phone them up and ask for an upgrade tomorrow and see what they say. If it is only £50 I'll certainly do that although I have my doubts.

  9. Hi

Shortened version of the tale. I was due to go out on navigator of the seas on 10July but having had a heart attack two weeks ago, this isn't now possible.

In order to try and cheer up two incredibly sad/disappointed/worried 12 year olds I booked the Navigator going out on the 15 October. I thought I would splash out and book two junior suites on a guarantee basis (didn't fully understand what that meant at the time).

I have been allocated two cabins on deck 9 (which is fine) one is an inter connecting cabin and one isn't (bit further along the corridor). I thought, as the cabin grades are the same I would phone RCI and try to get them to swap the stand alone cabin for the other interconnecting cabin instead. That way, we have two inter connecting and the (stranger) person who has been allocated an inter connecting cabin that they probably don't want and would prefer the standalone cabin instead could get that.

However, the jobsworth that I spoke to on the phone was extremely unhelpful and of course ended the call with the infuriating "have a nice day" - well I would have if you had actually been human!

Considering the circumstances I thought they might have been a bit more sympathetic. Has anyone ever had this type of issue before? Has anyone managed to plead with a "higher authority" ? Any hints or tips?

Alternatively have you been allocated 9634 on the Navigator of the seas going out of Southampton on 15 October and would like a swap?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions
