This is where we docked in 2016 and I have seen more recent reports that also docked there.  We did an off ship excursion that met us in the terminal the both days and delivered us back on time.  Much cheaper than the Viking options.  With doing the Viking options, most will begin and start at the ship so that will take more traveling time in the day.

We did the same thing with a private tour company, Red October.  Six of us in a van with a driver and tour guide, who was a history professor.  In two days we saw a lot.  Each night we were dropped off at the ship.   Simply fantastic !

You didn't notice it's on a table on a Viking ship which every passenger needs to be vaccinated and gets tested every day?

How much more serious could someone be taking it? Again, stay home.

Putting a soiled mask on a table is akin to putting your feet up on a table.  You don't know what's on those masks, maybe Covid, maybe one of a hundred other infectious viruses or diseases.  It simple.  It's bad hygiene any way you look at it.  Put the dirty thing in your pocket, just like you would a dirty handkerchief.  I would hope other cruisers are careful about not spreading disease.  More than my 2 cents.

Unaware a vaccinated person put their mask on a table? If this is what you worry about, stay home. Don't cruise. Don't go anywhere.

Sorry, I didn't notice the Vaccination sign on the table.  If I saw a mask on a table I would consider it dirty and stay away from that table until it had been bussed.  Some people just don't take infection precautions seriously.  I don't think Viking would approve of the practice of putting worn masks  on tables as good practice either.  There's a Pandemic going on.  I take it seriously.

Interestingly we haven’t departed Seydisfjördur yet (it’s now 3:10pm). Not sure why but wondering if some folks had independent excursions and were already off the ship when the decision was made to keep us all aboard. So Mike is now having trying the warm Pap’s Brandy and I’m having a cappuccino.

    No other news to report.

Not sure, is it good practice to put worn masks on a table ?   For instance, what it one of the 3 mask wearers just happened to be Covid Positive and was unaware ?

  5. Thanks for the input. Taking a train between cities would probably be the easy route. We all love cruising (thus I'm posting on the River Cruise forum).

I think the Avalon short cruise might be best for our intentions. We'd love to cruise all the way down to Bucharest but don't want have only a day in Budapest.

  6. Aloha, we're a group of 6 adults. We've done the cruise from Amsterdam to Vienna with a side trip to Bratislava.

This time we want to concentrate on 3 cities. Prague, Vienna and Budapest. We want to spend 3 nights or so in each one, maybe 4.

Our goal is to start in Prague, then train/bus to Vienna and spend another 3 or 4 nights there. Then pick up the cruise ship and cruise to Budapest for another 3 or 4 nights. It seems like a very short cruise but if we take the ship to Bucharest we won't be in Budapest more than one night.

Is there any other way of doing this? We love not having to repack our bags so often but cruise ships only stay in ports long enough to see a few highlights in each port.

We're looking at Fall 2015. Thanks.
