We're a wine-loving couple, but we also love boat tours and wildlife. We'll be doing a wine tour in Napier, and (likely) a wildlife boat tour in Akaroa, as well as a wildlife tour in Dunedin. So what is the better choice for Picton? Cruising the Queen Charlotte Sound, or doing a wine tour in the Marlborough region?

Thanks for all the responses! We ended up finding a 29 day HAL Aus-NZ-Fiji, so we're pretty excited! It's great to hear there have been other kids on some of these long cruises, we hope there will be some our daughter can play with.

Yes, extensively. Yes to airfare. I don't know what you mean by jumping off point? The embarkation port? Or each port of call? And yes to trip insurance. We have also travelled a lot with our older child.

My husband gets a sabbatical this year and we have 2 small children (3.5 and 1 year). We figured a cruise would be the least stressful way to travel with them for a month and still see a lot of neat new places. We've done the Caribbean, Alaska, and seen a good portion of Europe already, so what/where else would you recommend for a 4 week cruise with our little family? Our budget is about $25k. Thank you!
