Yes, we were on the cruise and have just arrived home. WE heard the announcement, it came through all rooms. It was a bit concerning and I certainly stayed awake for a while after but I just waited in my room and listened for further info. We could hear a few people running in the halls but no raised voices or panic or anything.

My husband (who was in the next room with my sons) is a fireman so if he was worried I would have been!

Nothing was mentioned the next day but we went to a 'Running a Floating Hotel' talk and someone asked what had happened. They said that a stray piece of plastic had gotten in and they just wanted to make certain that everything was okay. I guess they weren't going to say it was a huge fire or anything....

Just wondering if anyone has had an upsell call for this sailing?

We are currently in the US on holiday and my TA has not been great so just wondering if maybe she failed to pass on any upsells that might have been happening?

We got an upgrade today for our october cruise. Same story took 1 1/2 hours to get it done but we went from inside to mid ship balcony for $321 more. It pays to keep an eye on the prices!

Did you book through a travel agent? Did they organise the upgrade or were you watching and phoned yourself?

Ismalismom, are you in Aust? My TA is trying to charge me more to upgrade so I would end up with the same amount I was trying to avoid.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, when we originally were looking at rooms, prices etc it was more expensive for the single, larger 1 bedroom family room. It has since gotten a lot cheaper!

I was wondering if anyone has tried to change/upgrade/move cabins, after final payment, through their Travel Agent in Australia?

We are sailing the POA in a month and have booked two Oceanview cabins. There are 5 of us (2 adults and 3 kids) and when we booked initially, one room for all of us was well over $15K. So we went with two rooms. I can now see an Obstructed View 1 Bed Family Room for $2500 less than what we paid for the two rooms.

I would much rather this option to keep us all together. I rang NCL Aust and they refused to deal with me, saying I had to go through my TA. When I asked the TA, they wanted an additional $1500 on top of what we had already paid - that would make it $4000 more than the price I can see on NCL.com! I am even happy to not have a refund of the original fares paid, just give up two rooms for the larger 1 bed room.

Has anyone had any experience similar to this and what was your outcome? How did you go about dealing with NCL? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your review, it was great! We are about to cruise on the POA in October - our first ever cruise! A quick question.... Were you offered a wine (bottles) or soft drink package on board? I can't seem to buy either of these on my NCL page. Thanks!

We will be sailing on the Pride of America in October and wanted to take a Pacific Whale Foundation cruise that starts at 7am in Maui. As this is an overnight port, are we allowed to leave the ship at 6am? Has anyone been on this cruise and offer more info/review of it?

Also, we are are an Aussie family and will be travelling throughout the USA and finishing up with the POA cruise. Can I please get some advice on tipping throughout the USA? What is standard practice and what services do we tip for? I haven't been to the US since I was a teenager (20 years ago!) and I imagine things are a bit different from when I was last there!
