  1. General statement - doors are no doubt 30-32 inches in width and 36 inches for (wheelchair) handicap cabins.

The height is a nominal 84 inches (7 feet).

24 inches would be ODD even though it is an even number for a solo cabin. 2 foot doors for a closet cabin ? LOL !

Your 2 foot 24 inch wide decorations should be fine for all doors - 32 and 36 I would avoid.

I don't believe that there is an industry standard on doors but there maybe safety issues related - readers ?

THANK you! This is the information I was looking for! Very helpful :)

  2. All though I don't know the answer to your question regarding the measurements of the cabin doors on board the Jade, I believe it might be useful for you to know that on many (if not all?) of the NCL ships, they do NOT allow large door decorations on the outside of your cabin door. And that I have seen on several cruises that this "prohibition" has been posted in the Freestyle Daily and that the housekeeping staff has been instructed to remove any outdoor decorations (with the exception of small magnets and similar items). However, decorating the inside of your cabin door should not be a problem for anyone. Just though it might be useful for you to know this, in case you are planning on making a great "door poster" for the outside of your cabin door, and then be told it is not allowed.

Thanks, but it's good for this one. There's even an official door decorating contest, hence why I'm trying to find the specs

  3. Greetings! I'm planning a door decoration for our upcoming cruise on the Jade but want to ensure I have the correct measurements first. It'd be terrible if I plan something great, get there, and ooops, it's too big :o Have googled and asked previous guests but received conflicting answers - some say 24 inches wide, some say 30, etc. And no one seems to recall the height. Any solid information would be appreciated. We're on deck 10, since I've heard they can differ slightly between decks.

  4. Greetings! We're sailing with NCL in early January and after reading the good reviews of Maya Key I'm probably going to book it for our Roatan excursion. I have a few detailed questions that weren't answered in the description, website, and found some conflicting info in the reviews, hoping the repeat visitors here can help clarify :)

    • Some reviews say the lunch buffet is unlimited trips, some say only one is allowed, which is it?
    • Do you have to pay cash for all extras on the island?
    • Wifi there at all? I'm assuming no but wanted to check
    • Animal encounters, worth it or not? We've never been that close to Sea Lions and are considering it
    • Did you feel the need to use the lockers for valuables? How much are the lockers?

  5. We're in the same quandary as OP. We've traveled all over the world but this is our first cruise, to several Caribbean countries. I understand that cards will be accepted in some places and of course the American dollar is loved. But when we travel we always get the local currency- I feel like we're being ripped off by the exchange rate if we don't. We have debit cards that work internationally without any transaction or exchange fees, my dilemma here is it worth it for spending a few hours in one country...

  6. I had them punch a hole in the card, then attached a keyring and jewelry finding so that I could clip it onto a bracelet.

I was really pleased with the way that worked; I didn't need to carry a purse or bag if I didn't want to, I didn't need to worry about pockets, and it still left my hands free for a book or camera.

This is actually a great idea, thanks!
