  1. Just got back from here yesterday. The drinks at the beach were made with cheap, horrible booze and the venders were crazy, wild with peddling their stuff. Thank goodness for the unlimited drinks, for there were many dumped in the sand by a lot of people. The shots offered were horrible too, made with cheap booze and completely undrinkable. If you don't stay right on top of those who sold you the package (chair, drinks, food), they will conveniently forget about you. The prices for chairs/drinks/food vary from vender to vender, so check out a few before you spend your money, or get taken. At 30 a person, for five adults, the vender tried like heck to get 300 bucks out of us, until we told him to do the math. He then told us it was 150 and he expected a great tip.

A party beach for sure. One at which I was not impressed with and will not return to with my young family members.

  2. I read of normal January water temperatures in the low 70s. Not sure that's warm enough. :)

Depending on the air temp, it should be alright to swim. This Floridian swims in our spring rivers, which stay at 72 degrees year round, so the low 70's water temps are going to be nice and refreshing. My grand kids are going with us in January and they have their snorkel gear ready.

Now, to find some nice reefs for these 7 and 4 year olds to explore. Anyone have any suggestions?

  3. Waiting to hear what damage was done by Hurricane Matthew. Friends who have been there tell us to enjoy the ship. We were looking at doing a private tour with locals, geared towards the kids. Also planned on doing Junkanoo Beach.

As it gets closer to time to depart, I'll update on what we have come up with.

  4. Hi! Taking the family, to include two grand babies (7 and 4 yo) to Nassau and Coco Cay in January. The cruise docks at noon and is there for twelve hours. Looking for suggestions as to what will keep the kids entertained in Nassau.

I'm thinking the water is going to be cool and with winds, it may not be an option for us to go diving/snorkeling. Has anyone used Cheryl's private tours?

It's been 45 years since I've been to the island so I'm sure things have greatly changed.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
