  1. Just wanted to say "Hi!" and "Thanks for the cruise report & photos!" I first read this review December 2016 when I was anxiously awaiting our first cruise (aboard the Pride). We loved it & as soon as we returned home, we booked a Bermuda 2018 cruise. Well, that cruise is next week (Finally! We booked 600+ days out!!!) so I came back to see your beautiful photos again. Thank you so much! We chose Bermuda because of the long port stay, but I have to think your photos had something to do with it too! Hope you're well & still sailing the high seas!

  2. " How do you do that? Sail from Tampa, then "land" in Baltimore? How do you get back to NJ???? "

I've never done this, but my guess is park @ the cruise terminal, take a cab to BWI airport, fly to Tampa, and your car is at Balt port to greet you. I'm sure you could also park @ the airport or a hotel, but I think I would like being able to get in the car & hit the highway sooner after the trip.

  3. Kierra,

I'm on the same cruise as you. There is a roll call on here if you are interested (it's not very active though) and also the social media platform that Zuckerberg started. If you look for "Bahama Carnival Pride" over there it should pop up. It also has the date Dec. 18 2016 in the page title.

Here's the link to the roll call on these boards

  4. Great news! Our local (DelMarVa) weather has updated their weather model. It looks much safer for our area (& the Pride) now. Even with the necessary trip south of Delmarva Peninsula, looks like just rough seas and 30 mph winds. I wonder if they plan to arrive early & just hang out in the Chesapeake until Grandeur of the Seas debarks.

  5. Lots of people disembarked today. We heard there is now only 1000 onboard now.

My 4K that I was in just turned into an extended balcony on the 7th deck.

And I figured it out. I booked this as a group cruise and took $595 in conductors credit. Add to that, the $750 in onboard credit from carnival. All totaled I only paid $395 for this cruise for 3 people. I'll take that any day. I'm a happy camper!

Wow! Can't believe that many people chose to find their own way.

Congrats on the upgrade & that's a great $ deal you wound up with! Plus you've got the right attitude about this ordeal. Hope you all stay safe.

My only question, it seems to me you are going to be IN the storm on the way back to Bmore. I live in DE & weather guessers are saying we're going to get something this weekend. If the ship isn't back until Sunday, it seems that places the ship in it. ??? For some reason, this storm confuses me. Everyone I ask and every where I look I feel like I'm getting different info.

    Have fun & stay safe!!

  6. Missing one port but 50% off of next cruise, bring on a hurricane for my cruise Dec31 -Jan 5

lol! Probably not a hurricane that time of year, though a Nor'Easter is possible.

I think they missed all their ports and grabbed NYC as "safe harbor". It initially was a Bahamas then changed to New England/Canada and that got cancelled, too.

I probably would have cancelled my trip & re-scheduled, but were I on it, like OP, I would like to think I'd just make the best of it. She has the right idea.

  7. I just found this on the State Dept.'s web site: "Over the course of the past six months, the U.S. Embassy has received reports of a

significant increase in armed robberies throughout New Providence, specifically

targeting patrons of ATM machines, parking venues at various retail locations, and armed car-jackings."

While it's no doubt wise to be cautious and aware, this doesn't seem like cruise ship tourists are their focus. I will not be letting this change my plans.:)

  8. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has taken time to share their knowledge. We booked our first cruise for December and after it was booked, I started reading such negative things about Freeport. I actually was getting a low level of buyer's remorse. Now I know that there are more options than staying on the ship or going to Senor Frog's. Thanks so much!!:)

  9. I'm not sure what you decided re: fly vs. drive, but I vote fly. I don't mind driving to places but the drive home seems at least 2.5 times longer than the drive there, for me. We went to NOLA for Christmas 2014 and found it to be very walkable and I would NOT consider it car friendly. Traffic was heavy all the time. We took the Streetcars several days & a bus once. All were friendly, safe, and affordable jaunts. Here's my streetcar review https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60864-d109338-Reviews-RTA_Streetcars-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html - also, we loved our hotel. It's just slightly outside the French Quarter but quieter and more family oriented. Here's my review for it https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60864-d498233-r247274249-Country_Inn_Suites_By_Carlson_New_Orleans_French_Quarter-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html - My only concern, is that we are walkers & don't mind a walk - if your family likes to park close to the door everywhere you go, this probably is not a good hotel for you. Whatever you decide, have fun!!
