  1. I don't but... The standard balcony cabin is 231 square feet - including the balcony. The Caribe balcony cabins are 271 square fee - including the balcony. The additional square footage is on the balcony. The balcony is half covered and half uncovered so you have a choice as to being in the sun or not and nobody can look down on you on your balcony.

    Thank you for the explanation!

  2. We were going to use Dyea Dave's tour on a mini bus to Emerald Lake in Skagway. Does anyone know if the road is very windy (my husband tends to get car sick) or are the turns pretty mellow?

  3. Having done a Canada/New England cruise, along with five cruises to Alaska, being 'trapped' on a balcony without a near-360° view of what's around me is less appealing than being up on deck.

As SoCal Cruiser put it: "...the question for me would be is having natural daylight and access to fresh air via an open door without leaving your cabin worth $50 per person, per day?". That's $700 - or a lot of hot chocolate, shore excursions (with lobster rolls), and souvenirs.

Personally, I'd opt for the Inside, shoot for one of the 'sideways insides' if they're available, and save the money for other things.

The only time I'd might use the balcony would be to 'quick-check' the weather while getting dressed in the morning, otherwise, if the itinerary is more port-intensive, you might get very little use out of it, weather dependent of course. That, and all of the onboard activities in the evening after you've departed port should keep you busy until it's time to retire for the evening in preparation for the next day's port of call.

    :D

Thanks for your advice. What is different with the 'sideways inside' from the regular?

  4. I am looking to book a cruise on the Regal Princess to New England and Canada from Oct. 3-10. Trying to decide between an inside room and a balcony. There is a $350 difference PP. Would we be able to use the balcony at that time of year? I haven't had an inside room in years. This is our first Princess Cruise.
