  1. We cruised last year when our kiddos had just turned 3 and 2. We're cruising again next month and they'll be 3 and 2 and I'll be 18 weeks pregnant. We love it. It's actually our vacation of choice (besides Disney World) for our toddlers. It's cheap and so easy. Everything is right there on the ship so no driving anywhere and no lugging heavy beach chairs and toys back and forth like you would if you did a beach trip or something. Our kids love it too. They don't do the kids camp too much and really just like to spend time with us. We have a great time!

  2. I would be willing to bet there are way more adults peeing in the pool than kids.

Haha yes! My 3.5 year old has been potty trained for a year and a half and my 2.5 year old just got #1 down last week and we're working on #2 (we cruise in May so we have to be done before then!). We also have a pool at home. Those kids get out of the pool to potty 3 times more than any of the adults. Its actually pretty gross when I think about it.

But yeah, they aren't allowed in pools or splash areas if not potty trained. Honestly, we never went in the pool on the last cruise. Its salt water and my oldest hated that.

  3. We Always stay on the 8th floor aft balcony (13 cruises) and have never felt more rocking then anywhere else on the ship.

You'll love it and only be one staircase away from the ice cream machines!

Great, thank you so much. I'm thinking we'll really like the quietness back there and its a really convenient spot.

  4. :DIf your worried about seasickness the lower you are on the ship the less motion you will feel. Also mid ship would be best and an ocean view will give you more room at a cheaper price.

We're last minute booking so our options are limited :( Basically we have deck 7 or deck 8 aft balconies or to keep our deck 7 interior midship

  5. You will likely feel some vibration and side to side motion, but the balcony and space will be nice.

If you are worried about the potential of getting sick from motion, I always recommend Sea Bands. They are a nonpill/patch way to avoid seasickness. They work awesome (I get sick in the back seat of a car)... and love these. Plus if you start feeling sick just slip them on and it will subside in a matter of 10 or 15 minutes (supposedly works for morning sickness too, but can't vouch for that one ;)). Not expensive either.

I use on planes, boats, all over.

Thanks, I'll have to look those up. I do get sick in the back of cars but usually never on a ship. Do they make you drowsy??

  6. I personally love the aft balconies.

BUT...you will have a nice side to side rocking motion.

I personally love this motion its like being rocked to sleep in your mother's arms IMO.

So it's definitely noticeable then? I remember noticing the swaying in the dining room on the Dream last time we went on it, but I wasn't sure if it was because of rough seas or the location.

  7. We are booked on the Dream for a 7 day cruise in an interior cabin midship deck 7. We'll have our two toddlers with us, and I'm pregnant, so I'm concerned about not having a balcony or a view. We can move to deck 8 aft in a balcony room for $650 more and that would give us more space to spread out, but I'm worried I'll feel the rocking and vibrations too much. We've never done aft and typically stick with midship. I usually don't get motion sickness, but being pregnant, I'm afraid I might.

Any thoughts on this? Would we really feel the vibration up at deck 8 or would the swaying be more of a concern? The location is a bit more convenient as well being two decks below the pizza and back entrance to the buffet so that would be nice!

  8. If you put "toddler" in the search engine of this forum I am sure you will get lots of hits of things to do and travel with young children in Cozumel.

We have travelled several times with toddler/ young child and have walked to nearby resort to avoid transportation, travelled by taxi van and hired a private driver with car seat. No problems with any of our arrangements.

Do you have more information on hiring a private driver?

  9. Hi!

We will be cruising with our two toddlers (their first cruise) and one port is Cozumel. My husband and I just went to Cozumel a few months back and had no issues. Recently, we've had a few family members warn us of the issues that have been going on in Mexico and it's making us rethink getting off of the ship.

Has anyone been there recently with small children and felt safe? We plan to just go to paradise beach. I'm mostly concerned with the taxi ride there and back by ourselves.

    thanks!

  10. It seems that the Egift cards are unavailable. We just booked a last minute cruise and have to make the final payment on July 23rd. Allstate is saying it takes about 2 weeks for mailed gift cards to arrive. Does it really take that long? Do egift cards frequently go out of stock and come back in quickly?

  11. Hi,

We're trying to purchase the Allstate cards for our next cruise and are being told there are no more ecards available. Does this happen often? I can get a mailed one still, but if this is a frequent thing and the ecards will be back soon, I'd rather just wait for that!

  12. Thanks! This makes me feel a bit better. I don't believe triumph has a splash pad, but it's the only short trip ship out of New Orleans, our home port, and we're trying to do something without having to fly.

That's great to hear about dinner. We do take the kids out regularly to eat at home and they behave pretty well.

I had thought about sitting on the balcony during nap times. That's a great point. We're actually looking at the junior suites so we can have a tub. I've tried getting them to shower at home and it's a nightmare, so I think that'll be one less thing we have to worry about. And great point about the potty. I wonder if we can bring our Mickey Mouse seat. Maybe that'll be less intimidating.

Did anyone do the Seuss at Sea stuff? How was that? Did you find there was enough other stuff to keep the kids occupied? I've read they have to be potty trained to go in the pool and our youngest may not be yet so that'll be a bummer

  13. Thanks!!

I was hoping to use the Camp Ocean option, but I did just see its only for 2 and older and the 1.5 year old will turn 2, two weeks after the cruise. I've always been the mom that said she'd never take little kids on a cruise, but since the cruise is cheap in comparison to other vacation options, I've been considering it.

Our 3 year old isn't scared of much, but the younger one does freak out a little. She did get a little nervous on her first elevator ride a few weeks ago now that I think about it. I'll have to think about everything that happens on a cruise and see if she'll be ok. Did you take yours off of the ship at port at all?

  14. My husband and I loved to cruise often before we had kids, but haven't taken our children yet. Our last cruise was on the Dream this past April by ourselves and I started to consider taking the littles with us. They are ages 3 and 1.5.

How is the Triumph for children? We haven't been on it in over 10 years and at that time I wasn't concerned about kids' activities. Is a suite necessary for the space with four people in a room? Are there kids options in the MDR? Any advice on length of cruise (is 4 days good enough or will we want more time? would 7 days be way too much?).

  15. Hi,

My husband and I will be going on the Dream in April for our first vacation since having kids. We won't be taking the kids with us, so I'm trying to find ways to stay connected. FaceTime would be great, but I've heard the wifi isn't good enough on the ship to do FaceTime. Is that true?

We'll be going to Montego Bay, Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Do most local restaurants have decent connections available?

    Thanks!!

  16. Definitely try the cove! Been on sisters to Dream(Magic) and Dawn(Star) - Dream in a cove was a much better cruise for us than our dawn cruise in a Mini Suite. We did both of these cruises sans offspring.

Im looking at 2260 which is under the main bar area. It looks like theres a gap in the lifeboats above. Do you know if anything else is up there? Or would it just be open?
