I can recommend Insider Tour in SPB. The tour we took was a maximum of 6 people and whist we did have a minibus around the sights and museums for two days (we never had to line up in the queues), we also got to walk along Nevsky Prospekt and ride on the Metro - not something that could be done on a catch of 42 people! It was delightful.

I wouldn't skip Catherine's palace either, it was beautiful. There were 3 ships in when we disembarked and it was busy.
Our private tour was with Insider Tour and Marina was brilliant.
Being new to cruising we obeyed the ships instructions and didn't attempt to disembark until they told us that we could - 8am. What we didn't realise was that the passengers going on the ships cruises had been disembarking since 7am and we found ourselves in a massive queue which took us an hour and 20 minutes to get through!
I managed to get an email to their office and they waited until we arrived, very kind of them. The other passengers on our tour were experienced in this kind of thing and had all got off at 7 to 7.30am.
A lesson learned for us!
I would highly recommend Insider Tour.

We've just done an NCL Baltic cruise which included Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Next year we've booked on another NCL cruise that includes Norway and Iceland. Can't wait.

Very interesting janj01. I assume you booked directly with NCL rather than through an agent?

Thank you for your responses everyone. They do make sense and especially when there are only two sailings for the itinerary we want to do. I'll get it booked [emoji3]

Certainly on the UK site it says that cancellation over 61 days means loss of deposit.

I've been advise to re-post this here.
We've just come off our first cruise with NCL and loved it.
We've seen another NCL cruise we'd like to go on in September 2018 but should we book it now or is it more advisable to wait for special offers appearing?

I would also ask on the dedicated NCL forum here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=107
More folks with direct experience on that forum.
Thank you, will do.

Thank you FitchburgWIFamily, an entertaining and informative review. I'll be traveling in your footsteps next July.

Thanks Mr and Mrs C, I'll try to check them out. I haven't been given much info really and I find the NCL web site to be poor to navigate.
I'm hoping that I'll be sent more information when I make the final payment.

Thanks CruisinHarvey - I've added a reminder in my calendar. :)

How did you manage to book the Illusionarium please? It's probably the only thing that is a must see for us on the cruise and if I can book it in advance that would be great.

We're holidaying on the Getaway next July, our first cruise.
Your review is very useful, thank you.:)

If 9244 has a slightly larger balcony, does it have a restricted view please?
