This Lido vibe is like nothing I’ve ever experienced at sea. It’s just different. Way less hectic and busy. Partially the weather, but the sun is (mostly) out and the wind isn’t an issue with the enclosed nature of the the thing…. I was worried about only one pool bar, and half the seats are wide open.

The Pergola bar upstairs seems even quieter.  I just noticed they did close the pool for some reason.   PM

I have found the laundry detergent sheets work great especially when traveling.  They look almost like dryer sheets.   No worrying about them getting smashed or leaking in your luggage and almost no weight.  Also, you can use a half sheet(or less) for a small load in the sink.  There was only one or two companies making these a few years ago, but now more of the mainstream companies are making them.  I bring a ziplock bag with a few of these and a few dryer sheets.

I have brought a few of the first ones on my Caribbean Princess cruise for their washers, it wasn't so much for the savings ($3 per box of detergent), but for saving my skin.  Worked great!  I also bring a few spot treatment wipes as well.  I'm sloppy.

Just off the Venezia this past Friday. No real priority on embarkation or debarkation for our sailing; too many platinum and diamond members. We had 1100 boarding. We dropped our bags, went through security, and walked right on as they were calling our zone. Much better than when we sailed last November. It was a highly disorganized mess then!

Good to hear!  I’d prefer to arrive around 11,  but I will have to see what the consensus is with our little group.

We were on her in September and it was the worst I had ever seen on embarkation.

To top it off everyone at the terminal got more upset when they handed out a flyer that we weren't going to Amber Cove, they should have waited a bit.

Hope it is better for your tween!

We were on her in May as well.

We are parking at the port, I know parking is outside, we take the elevator down I think, do we have to go back outside to drop luggage or where do we go to drop luggage, (we are priority)

    Thank you!

Oofie, I agree, they could have delayed that notification a bit. My last cruise (Princess Ft. Lauderdale) was a mess too, so I am mostly prepared, the others, not so much.

I will try to get an early check-in time and distract her with her tablet.🙂

    Thank you!

  5. Hi Carnival Cruisers,

I haven't seen any Venezia reviews lately.  How is the embarkation process in NYC these days?

What I'm particularly curious about are the long lines outside, I will have a nervous tween with me and need to prepare her a bit.  We have priority, but if I understand it, we have to line up for security first and then the priority kicks in when we get into the terminal, correct?

    Thanks,

  6. Ship Caribbean

    Class Grand

    Deck Emerald

    Cabin # E733

    Category S6 (Vista Suite)

    Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern Stern

    Connects With Cabin # N/A

    Accessible N/A

    Quiet Except when docking

Balcony Size Large but packed with furniture

    View Aft

    Privacy Issues None

    Wind None

Soot Some White particles on chairs, far from stacks so I am not sure what it was

Problems When docking it vibrates in the cabin

Comments While it is directly above Club Fusion, I heard nothing from it.  The actual sleeping area is more above the promenade.  The lighting in the bathroom vanity area was poor.  The shower temperature control was super touchy.  This is the smallest of the Vista Suite cabins.

  7. Debarkation day! 😢

Last night I went to the farewell variety show.  It was packed!  I was in one of the side seats and could see well enough,  but I would come early to that one,  since it was only a single show.

I’m on a debark tour “Everglades Airboat Ride and Flamingo Garden”,  so will be escorted off.  I hope that is better than embarkation.

    Happy cruising,

Yeah, I got involved with a lively thread over in the Carnival forum concerning a complaint over being pulled aside while Fido did an invasive sniff test, he claimed it wasn't the first time. And I guess that some cruises on the West Coast even have a dog that stays on-board? And more than a few cruisers have done a U-turn back to their cars to "adjust" their luggage after seeing the signs warning of the K-9 searches?

The discussion quickly devolved into "unreasonable searches", profiling, etc. I don't have a problem with it, as I don't use or carry any controlled substances and they have the right to check anyone they see fit that goes aboard their ship.

I’m in the same camp.  I’ve worked where we had drug dogs come through on a regular basis.  I don’t partake, so it doesn’t affect me.

And the fruit and veg dogs were in Cozumel sniffing bags.  Also not a problem to me, I lived in CA when the Medfly was super destructive.  In ORD they are the Beagle Brigade 🐶. I think the cuteness angle helps folks tolerate it better.

Thanks PM, I'll have to check out the Sharks Enrichment presentation.

What did Olivia say that makes you nervous about Carnival?

I guess they often delay disembarkation due to having to allow the police on first to pick up someone.  The odds are we won’t be affected, it was just a teensy bit unnerving.   We will have a good time I am sure!

  10. Bittersweet afternoon.

I attended the “Behind the Seas”,  a Q & A with Olivia our CD.  She was very patient with all the Morgue and Brig questions. She also made me nervous about my upcoming Carnival cruise. I am sure it will be fine.

The last Sharks Enrichment was today. This was his best,  because I could really sense how much he adores these creatures.  He will still be on next week.  @IndyKid if you like this, it is worth the time.
