  1. Want an outlet close to your bed so you can use your phone while plugged in and lay down at the same time, or have your phone on your nightstand? The lamps are plugged into Euro style plugs behind the bed.

Get an international travel adaptor. There are lots of good ones, some even have several USB ports built in - meaning you don’t even have to plug an additional usb charger into the adaptor. You can even plug the lamp back in with the adaptor “in the middle” and continue to have light!

This is great to know! Any suggestions for a not too expensive one. I'll be using my CPAP machine for the first time on a cruise and was wondering how to plug it in. Only remember seeing the one outlet on the main counter and was trying to figure out how to stretch it over to the bed!

  2. We are flying into Hobby airport the morning of the cruise something we rarely do as we prefer to get in the night before etc but not possible this cruise. Are there any Walmart, Target, CVS etc stores walking distance from the port that we might pick up some of the things we can't take in our carryon luggagge such as distilled water, and toiletries?

    Thx

  3. We did an upsell to a Family Suite, and I thought I read somewhere that the perks although great are not the same as the other suites? I may be wrong, but am looking forward to having the suite perks and Butler and don't want to ask for something not included.

  4. Heading out from Tampa on the Star next Sunday and accidentally came across this thread!!! OMG you are all soooooo awesome! We have the UBP and we don't drink much except on vacation. We took the UBP Promo with our booking mainly thinking we would have the wine with dinner and some drinks at the shows. NOW- I am going armed with this fantastic list. Hope I remember the cruise when I get home!!!

  5. Thank you! I will wait and see if the Concierge can get us in! It's a first port so I will see what kind of back up I can do if we can't get in.

    :)

  6. Trying to find a way to book this resort day pass. NCL doesn't show it on their website and I haven't gotten answers when I email the resort directly. Has anyone booked this anywhere that wasn't on the cruiseline excursions?

  7. No replies, no interest - I shouldn't put these information postings up on Cruise Critic, unless someone asks for it.

Sorry didn't see your thread until I just booked my China trip. I am soooo grateful for your posting and everyone's eventual responses. I'm looking forward to trying to fit in as many of your suggestions as possible, especially the walking tours and the ice cream vendor!!::D

  8. Funny how multiple posters have talked about the bow on the HAL ships being so great, and being opened just for Glacier Bay. Princess ships have that promenade deck that is ALWAYS open and rarely crowded. The promenade deck is one reason I love Princess ships to Alaska. Some excellent outside, unobstructed forward viewing and easy to move side to side for great viewing. This is a great place to view not just in Glacier Bay. Between Skagway and Juneau for example is another excellent place to see wildlife, especially whales. Then again south of Juneau is another great area. Lots of opportunities to see wildlife from the cruise ship (usually in the distance and not for a long time) if you invest the time.

Since you've been on Princess to Alaska, could you tell me if they have the park ranger come aboard and narrate as I hear they do on HAL? Also where do you need to be to hear the narrative for example would it be audible on the promenade deck as well?
