I always fly out for cruises since most  have been European or Asian (I've only done 9), but right before the pandemic, I had some time off. I decided to take a solo cruise and skip the flight since I live in Los Angeles and have a port at driving distance. I booked a cruise to Ensenada on the Miracle and I was shocked at how bad of a time I had! The ship seemed like it was falling apart, the food was steps below other ships, the people were rude and aggressive... I didn't let it ruin my trip, but was just shocked as this single experience had tainted my idea that all cruises were amazing. I took another one about a year later on the Radiance and it was the same thing! I learned that booze cruises are not what I'm into.

Now here we are years later and my wife and I decided to introduce some of our family to cruising. We were thinking of taking a small group somewhere like New Orleans, or New York and doing a cruise from there. But as we asked who would be interested we were surprised to see how many signed up...now with 15 people on board, we decided we should keep it simple and just have everyone drive down to Long Beach... you can see where this is going LOL!

So obviously the Panorama is much newer and larger. But I have been hyping up cruises to my family and now that I will be taking 15 of them on one, I'm starting to get nervous. I'm concerned that the issues are more based on itinerary, locals (I'm from LA so I understand how "animated" we can be), or maybe even Carnival (most of my cruises have been RCL). But to be fair the other two ships were short 3-4 day cruises on old smaller ships. Our upcoming one will be 7 day on a newer larger ship. So I'm 95% positive it will be a closer experience to what I'm used to on my 11 day RCL cruises, but wanted to hear from others who have sailed out of long beach on these ships. I just need help going from 95% to 100%! LOL

Either way I'm sure we will make the best of it and enjoy ourselves.

No comparison. The Panorama dining, public spaces, entertainment, and decor is far superior to the other ships you mentioned. The only drawback is the number of passengers it holds. Many places were just crowded. I’d recommend a Havana cabin. The Havana area gets you away from the crowds. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve sailed carnival before but pre pandemic and never in a suite. I’ve found one with a good price but I’m confused. I’m looking at the ocean suite on the radiance for two adults and two teens. My teens will not be happy to share a double pull out sofa. They would be okay to have one on the sofa bed and one on a Pullman bunk. Does anyone know what the exact bed set up is for four? The room says it holds 4 but I can not find the sofa bed set up info. Thank you!

I’d suggest putting them in an inside cabin across the hall from you. They and you will enjoy that.

link the reservations you’d like to sit together in your cruise manager, and if needed meet with the maitre d on embarkation day in the dining room.

Yes we’ve already linked our booking numbers. Just trying to select who sits at what table. With 25 of us we’ll have multiple tables. I’ll visit them on embarkation day.

I printed my luggage tags a month or two ago and the color is Kelly green.  We are on the Miracle aft port balcony stateroom on deck 6.

My sister-in-law is booked in a balcony two doors down.  I was showing her today how to print her luggage tags and her tags are red, and not the green color that my tags are.  I thought maybe it's because it's her first cruise.  So for laughs and giggles, I decided to bring up my tags for printing and now the color of the tags is red.

Has anyone ever experienced this ?  Why would the color change ?

Yes. Exactly the same thing. Ours changed from Green to Red.

Only those in Havana Cabins have access to the Havana area until 7pm.  It's open to everyone after that time. And they should not be asked to "make an exception" for your daughter, even if she is well behaved.  The rules for that area are pretty clear, no one under 12 at any time.

    1. The Havana Pool Area is exclusive access to all Havana Cabin passengers AND now all Grand suite ( about 8-10 cabins) passengers.  Carnival made this change in October 2018.

    2. You must be 12 or older to stay in a Havana cabin.

    3. There’s nothing that says you must be 12 or older to access the Havana Pool Area.  So we’ll wait and see what happens when a penthouse suite guest wants to take their 10 year old child to the Havana Pool Area.  The logical answer is they cannot but there’s nothing saying there’s an age restriction to the Havana Pool, just the Havana cabins.

I would love to hear a recent cruisers experience of a suite passenger under 12 being allowed or denied access to the Havana Pool area.

Hi everybody.  I am thinking of booking the Panorama for a Havana Premium Vista Balcony for April 2020.  What are your thoughts on these cabins?  What decks do you recommend?  I am thinking of deck 6.  Thanks you all for any input 🙂

I understand these cabins are a bit difficult to find, which could be a good thing.  And you have to pass through several hallway doors to reach them.  We had booked Havana premium vista balcony for panorama feb 2020 but changed and upgraded to Havana Cabana Suite.

    Cheers!

  7. We’ve cruised both lines as well.   We prefer Carnival for partying and Princess for more laid back romantic cruising.  The Princess Club Class Mini-Suites are great and the special dining room cuisine for Club Class Suite guests was so much better than traditional dining rooms. Cheers mate and I’m sure you’ll have a great time whichever you choose.

  8. I read the first few pages of this thread and the last 4-pages.

I did not see any reviews or comments regarding the food and service from a recent Club Class guest.

We were on the Ruby a couple of weeks ago and dined around 7:30pm and the Club Class was almost empty every night.

I think we will try out Club Class dining next month on the Grand. It would be great to hear what folks have to say about the food and service. :D

Please post your review of the Grand Club Class when your cruise is over.

  9. There has always been periods of wait times with anytime dining since it's inception. It just depends on when you go to dinner. A cruise is for relaxing and enjoying yourself folks so don't get stressed out over a short wait time for dinner. Ever go to dinner at Outback, Texas Roadhouse, Red Lobster, etc. and had to wait for a table? Another solution is to choose traditional dining and sit and chat with your shipmates. You will eat at the same time every evening, guaranteed. Cheers!

  10. Thanks! The choice was not there yesterday but is there today. I was able to change it. to CC. BTW I told my TA what the Princess Rep told me so he called also. Essentially he got the same story which was totally wrong. The Reps do not just make things up. They work off a data base & all calls are monitored. What this tells m is the information they are working with is either wrong or very confusing to interpret.

We booked CC Mini suite for Alaska May 18. We like traditional dining but would also like to have breakfast and lunch on sea days in the club class dining room. Hope they can accommodate that.

  11. The items in red above are not an included extra in Club Class mini-suites.

Some promotions may have a free specialty restaurant experience, but that would be for all mini-suites booked with that promotion.

On the Ruby, when Club Class was started embarkation day lunch in the dining room (during normal operating hours) was limited to Club Class passengers (and BVE). Previous to that, all passengers had that option.

Thanks for the clarification. I was mistaken.

  12. Grand Princess just exited dry dock sporting the new club class mini suite. I'm anxious to hear from those that have sailed Grand Princess in a club class mini suite. Especially interested in the new beds, in suite dining, speciality restaurants, priority embarkation, embarkation day dining, and other extras with Club Class Mini Suite. Not concerned about the 'value', just the extra services.
