  1. Just got back from cruising solo on the Magic, spa balcony 11237 and thought I'd share a couple observations.

Self assist priority debarkation was a breeze. Was off the ship, through customs and in the parking lot by 7:15. Overall debarkation seemed to be much smoother that in the past.

We had a lot of wind and rough seas the entire week but did not miss any ports, was surprised but very happy about this.

Last but not least...we had one of the most beautiful full moons I've ever seen. Watched it rise over the water and the water lit up like a million fireflies dancing in the distance. Took pics on 3 different cameras, not one pic showed the full beauty, it's a memory I won't forget though.

Hi... Just a quick question. I am cruising on the Magic at the end of May and trying to plan a flight home. It shows we arrive at 8:00 am in Port Canaveral. I called the Carnival Rep and he said that was the actual time the ship docks and then they still have "legal" things to process before anyone can Debark. Do you recall what your itinerary showed for your boats arrival? I only have to flight options (10:50 am and 4:45 pm). Would much rather take the earlier flight. THANK YOU!!!!

  2. I have the same question. My schedule shows that the Magic docks at 8:00 am so I called my travel guy to confirm and he said that is correct. I have a choice of two flights - One leaving at 10:50 am and the other at 4:45 pm. I was told that I would most likely not be able to make the 10:50 am. I really don't want to sit around the airport until late afternoon.

  3. Anyone know a good company that provides transfer service from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral at a reasonable rate?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Hi, I just booked my shuttle with Cocoa Beach Shuttle. I am cruising the Carnival Magic and will be flying into Orlando. If you mention that you heard about them on Cruise Critic they will give you a discount. My rate for two people round trip is $108.40. You can cancel up to 24 hours before your scheduled pick up time. Hope this helps!!!

  4. Hi, I am in the process of trying to book a shuttle service from Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral. We leave on Saturday May 27th on the Carnival Magic and Return on Saturday June 3rd. We are flying in nonstop from Birmingham AL into Orlando and will land at 10:00 am. I realize that alot of people say it is better to come in the day before the cruise but this could not be helped. I am keeping my fingers crossed that will such a short nonstop flight there will not be any problems.:) It is just two people needing the shuttle and I was wondering what company you would recommend. Also we will need the return trip from Port Canaveral to Orlando Airport on the way back. The boat does not dock on June 3rd until 8:00 am so I am not sure what time to put for a pick up. Any thoughts??? I really appreciate any help

  5. We usually have pretty minimal on board bills (usually less than $100 over the daily gratuities). Def recommend pre-paying gratuities; it builds up fast and makes your bill look really high when you feel like you aren't spending anything. Believe that Carnival still lets you bring on soda and 2 bottles of wine, would def take advantage of this. I also found that if you look out for "tasting" events on the ship, you got a lot for your money. Did a margarita tasting once and for $20 got 4 good sized margaritas, my BF and I actually split the one tasting because it was so much. Also can get decent drink deals in port, much better than on the ship. Look out for the drink of the day, usually offered at a few bucks less.

You can have a great time without spending much money, just do your research and pre-plan what you want to do in port. Don't just walk up to the shore excursion desk and take what they have to offer. If you are on a budget, I would skip all the specialty restaurants. The MDR food is generally pretty good, good variety, menu changes every day.

    Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks for the great ideas :) I did not realize you could bring on Soda and 2 Bottles of Wine. How much Soda are you allowed? Do you just put it in your luggage or Carry on?

  6. Hi, So we are going on our first cruise at the end of May :) We are going on the Carnival Magic leaving on Saturday May 27th out of Port Canaveral. We will be flying in from Birmingham, AL - NON STOP flight on Southwest Airlines. They have a flight that leaves at 7:30 am (Birmingham) and lands at 10:00 am (Orlando). I realize it takes about an hour to get to the port from the airport. I would really like to take this flight the day of the cruise if everyone thinks this is doable??? Our ship leaves at 4:00 pm and I was told we must be on board by 2:30.... Any thoughts??? Would you do this? Also what company would you choose for the shuttle to the Port? Thank you for your help :D:D:D

  7. Sorry I didn't give enough information 😊 We are sailing on Carnival Magic for a 7 Day Eastern Caribbean cruise. It will be just my daughter and I. I am a little nervous because I have never been on a cruise and it seems overwhelming. I have been to a few all inclusive sand had heard that cruising was cheaper. Ha. Ha I believe they were wrong 😊 Also if I can get a flight landing in Orlando at 10:00 am will that be enough time to get luggage, take transportation and get checked in at Port? Thanks for any help!!

  8. Hi Everyone,

I am taking my 18 year old daughter on our first cruise for her high school graduation. There are other families/students going as well. Anyway... How much money should I expect to need on the boat? I know they will charge gratutities for both me and my daughter. How much will they put a hold on my credit card for expenses? Will it be per person or per room? I really don't expect to spend a lot on the cruise ship so I am just curious. I realize when we get off in ports we will have to pay for all excursions. I believe it would advised to use cash only for the ports. What can I expect to spend on board?

Wow this cruise is way more expensive than I had originally thought :)

    Thank you!!!

  9. yes... our daughter called us using messenger while we were on the Magic last week. worked very well.

Hi... My daughter and I are going on Carnival Magic for our FIRST CRUISE in May 2017. Can you tell me how much the internet package is so that you can use the Facebook Messenger? I would like to be able to call or Facetime back home to my husband and son. Thank you!!!:):):)
