This is about the only way to catch people smoking anything on a balcony.  People should report smokers and ships should send officers ... why wait until some idiot starts a fire?

Then those idiot offenders get forced off on the next port.   Examples need too be made.   A few reports passengers kicked off cruise ships at next port for smoking weed/tobacco on the balcony would change that behavior.   I am thinking its pure irrogance on these offenders to smoke weed/tobacco on the balcony.   If you have that need to light it up go do it at a port.  For the cbd gummies I could care less no odor maybe it will help preventing people from smoking it on the balcony.   I wrote an escalated email to RCL on this issue in light of our experience on Oasis of Seas.  I hope someone looks at it internally.

All this talk about skunk weed makes me extra glad for our promenade view rooms.   I'd be ticked if I'd paid for a balcony I couldn't use.

We are booked on explore in March on a promenade view thought about upgrading, after this past on Oasis balcony sailing no thank you.

Carnival cracked down on it with the dogs and fines and banning and booting people for even having edibles

And made it more apparent people would be fined and booted

Guess where those PAX are cruising

    now

The word is out it is easy to get away with it on Royal, if Royal stops following their own policies and allowing pot use and vaping anywhere on the ship

The slope becomes a little slippy 😉

Agreed.   This is well known Carnival is cracking down so that group is switching to other lines.    Personally I could careless if they allow edibles.    Its that awful smoke smell that gets me.    I did also smell cigarette smell assuming it's from the same balcony.

I smelled pot several times on our early November 2023 B2B (Allure and Odyssey).  I don't really care until it is blatant.  One guy made me laugh though ... The ship was moving so he opened a pool deck side window.  He stood right in front of the window but the air was blowing in.  He would have been better on the aft section of running track.  It amazes me that they think nobody detects the smell of pot.

But I imagine a day the RCL has a pot smoking section.  That would make two reasons to avoid that area!!

I agree with that having a separate area I believe Las Vegas is starting up cannabis lounges.  Maybe cruise lines will follow.

  5. Hello we just got off of Oasis of the seas.   Noticed Pot smell on our balcony at all times.  Even POT smell in public areas and bathrooms.      Overheard some other cruises bragged how easy it was to sneak on some weed in Nassau on board and how Carnival is cracking down and Royal Caribbean is not.    We alerted security they said its like trying to find moving fish in a ocean, difficult to find the violators.   Just curious anyone else noticing this.       I dont have an opinion for people who chose to smoke pot in there own privateplace I do have one in public places like a cruise.    Had a wonderful cruise food was by far the best we had since start up, service was outstanding.

  6. I agree with one poster said it's a vacation and not to get all upset what people are wearing in the MDR.    I personally like to dress up I feel like a princess for a night. My husband on the other hand would care less but I still make him dress up! On formal nights!     He too pointed out and said formal night why are people in blue jeans and a dark shirt.    We recently did a 10 day cruise,  how about one evening make it a formal night even those 7 day other then that be yourself rather then 2 formal nights.    My husband did get a lectured from a fellow passenger about walking around Centrum with a hat on formal night however he was on the way to change.

Anybody know any info on Andrea????? Good, bad, ugly??? We're sailing on Monday and not sure what to expect...

We just got off the November 30 -december 10 Cruise and found Andrea to be a wonderful host.   You did see him a over the ship.  Even would dine in the windjammer with guests.    We even ran into him biking in st croix and he recognized us from the cruise.   Very kind individual.

  8. I agree that carnival has way better pizza, Sorrentos is not good pizza. Guys burgers was a great option and good too. The burgers they serve for lunch in the windjammer are terrible should be tossed at sea! However on our last cruise we skipped the mdr and did the windjammer that featured handmade burgers with any kind of topping you can think of, this was the best burger I may have ever had! Buffet that night was amazing too, maybe check with the staff what's featured in the windjammer in the evenings. There was a Mexican theme one night people were raving about. Fires have always been hot and fresh.

  9. surprised that folks dint care for Casey however all had valid reasons. On our first RC cruise Dec 2016 we had him and loved him. Two cruises after that we did have Drew Devine on Navigator agreed he was not as visible but still did a ok job. He hosted sports trivia that my husband loved, Drew loves sports. Mitch was the CD on our Allure trip we felt he was a dud but Grant his activities mgr was great. Grant even hosted the Quest not Mitch. Now on our first cruise ever was on carnival breeze that CD was Matt Mechiam he was the best. These are just our opinions.

  10. I have to post this on this scam. We are going on our 4th RC cruise in 3 years in two weeks with my husband brother and family. It would be his brothers first cruise. My brother in law gets this call from a guy named Dean, said calling about your upcoming vacation thats it. Brother in law engages in a conversation with him, Dean then told him he has a upgrade package that is includes a suite upgrade from ocean view balcon they reserved premium drink package, choose any exuriosion offered by the cruise line, priority boarding and $300 additional OBC. To take advantage of this all we needed to do is send Dean our conceniure $750 via western union each party, it would save us 1K. Thank goodness my husband told me about this I called royal Caribbean and indeed its a scam. Phone number is a fort Lauderdale area code. This Dean was so convincing that my husband and his brother almost fell for it.

  11. Last cruise in December on the FOS I did notice spa folks outside of Windjammer and did get asked if I am looking for a spa treatment. I politely said no thanks and the employee respectively said ever change your mind come see us at. Same thing at the wind jammer a nice happy fellow dressed in Mexican atire asked us if we are interested in eating at his Mexican restaurant again declined and he moved on. I never felt any more up sell on our RCL cruise then anywhere else even less I thought. I was actually surprises there photophergers would offer then leave you alone.

  12. My brother called RCL this yesterday after we told him about a the new fee room service. He was upset as he was under the impression room service was included for our family trip. We leave on our cruise March 31st and the representative at first seemed confused but then came back and confirmed three times room service Meals are included for your cruises aside 12 to 5 the fee is 3.95. My brother did say it was extremely hard to understand the rcl rep that's why he asked three times.

  13. Glad I read this thread. We are going on a 9 night cruise leaving on March 31st with my whole family (DH, parents, sister/bil, brothers and there girlfriends) Parents and brothers with there travel mates are 1st time cruises. Two weekends ago most of got together to talk about the trip and room service got brought up. DH and I never used room service on our last cruise and dint plan on it for this cruise. My brothers and my Parents on the other had are really looking forward to the free room service for breakfast and we told them it's included. So rcl will already have some disappointed 1st time customers. I am OK with them adding the fee as they are a business. How RCL did it however was wrong only giving a 2 week notice vs 90 day notice affecting those all ready paid in full that could not cancel. Also going for the 7.95 vs 3.95 is a little stupid on there part, need to balance bottom line and customer experience at the same time poor pricing strategy.
