I actually made a mistake, her birthday falls on the first full day of touring, so not the evening of the welcome dinner. WE head to the Forbidden City and have a Peking Duck lunch that day!

My Mom's birthday will fall on the second day of our China Uniworld 'cruise' (we'll be on the land portion) I realize I didn't write anything about this when I sent in the check-in form (whoops!)

They have all of our information, do you think they will do something for her? Or do I need to contact someone about maybe having a small cake at dinner? (It's the Welcome Dinner evening) thinking it may be too late to do so upon landing in China.

Spent a month in Sing last year, traveled every weekend (so flew in a total of 4 times) and brought all of my meds with me every time. I'm a walking pharmacy with 4-5 RXs at any time, plus Prevacid, Advil, Advil PM, DayQuil, NyQuil and some probiotics. Never had an issue. Not there, or anywhere in SEA, nor the Middle East.

My family are experienced river cruisers, but I am personally new to ocean cruising. My parents had taken a few Regent Ocean Cruises, and liked them. Now that it's just my Mom and I we're looking into some ocean cruises.

She wants smaller ships- apparently Regent is only around 700 people? Are there other lines with this size? (I'm sorry if this is an obvious question, if there's some sort of cheat sheet on the internet for these things, please point me in that direction!)

We both want to do a cruise through the Panama Canal, as a tribute to my Dad. Ideally, ending up in Peru, where we could meet up with my hubby who wants to hike the Inca Trail. Regent apparently used to do this (per my Dad) but the itineraries I now see are NY-SF, NY-LA, Miami-LA etc.

After that, I'd really like to go back to Asia, but on Regent at least, there seems to be 2-4 days in a row of cruising at least twice on most itineraries. I realize there will be 'at sea' days, but not so many! Is this unrealistic?

Not sure if this is important, but I am under 30, so if there are age restrictions, that would be important!

That's very helpful :) We've both traveled with Uniworld a number of times before (actually heading out on their China/Tibet cruise next month!) and usually just work with AmexPlat as we have the same impression as you in regards to their home office :) We will look into the Alexandria option! We won't be able to fly in early but are more flexible on our return- thank you for the info!!

So glad I found this thread! My Mom and I are looking to book the Dec 9th sailing, hoping to add on 2 days in Petra before flying home Xmas Eve! Uniworld said they don't have any extensions for this trip, will need to inquire about Alexandria, however my Mom seems to be set on Petra, hopefully AmexPlat will come up with a do-able itinerary!

New here, looking for some advice on Uniworld, China & Tibet cruise.

My mother and father had traveled on river cruises extensively- however only in Europe aside from on trip down the Mekong (which due to fellow passengers was a hard trip- no fault of Uniworld's). My mother is now looking to cruise with me, in China. We've looked at trips on Uniworld, which they've done before, but I see similar trips for almost half the price on Avalon, on what appears to be the same boat...

Has anyone taken a cruise recently on the Century Legend with Uniworld or Avalon? Differences?

Her biggest concern is the shared boat/common spaces.

We're looking at the extension in HK as well, but being early June I've seen it's typhoon season? Is it worth doing?
