  1. Ok, I know, diet and cruise don't really work together. But, I am on a points based diet and am curious if anyone else has been on a similar diet while on a cruise. I would love to hear about how you tracked your points and any tips for staying close to your point limit. I realize that I will go over, but I want to limit a little, don't want to blow what I have been working on.

  2. I suffer from Congestive Heart Failure and have talked to my cardiologist about this very topic, for both about cruising and the fact I have a water filtrations system that uses salt. My cardiologist said the amount of salt in the water would not affect me unless I drink gallons of it a day. Typically these days it is suggested that people have less thank 2000 mg of sodium a day. To compare, 1 Big Mac is 970 mg of sodium. Bread can run about 200 mg per slice. Bacon will be about 300 mg a slice. Just think about what foods you eat in a day on a ship and it should be easy to find the reason for retaining water. Oh, and that late night pizza...you really don't want to know.My advise if you have issues with retaining water, just watch what you eat and when you do eat, leave the salt shaker alone. Google food products, cheeses, condiments and such, you will be amazed at the sodium levels. Remember 2000 mg.

  3. Why do people come to this website and complain when the RC website does not work.

Instead, try calling the cruise line.

They can probably help you more so than anyone here...

I am guessing because this forum is about Royal Caribbean and others may have had the same issue. If you look at many of the posts on here the answers could be found by going to a different source. Obviously his headline caught your attention and you clicked on it.

Don't really see what the big deal was with the question, but hey guess it bothers others.

  4. So I am going to be cancelling the sea lion swim I have booked at Coral World. I foolishly booked strait with Coral World without taking into account how close we would be cutting it to get there on time. If the ship is late even by a little bit I would be out the cost. My question is what activities do you recommend. It is our first time at St. Thomas. It will be me, my wife and our 12 and 14 year old daughters. Thank you in advance.

  5. We've been there a number of times and really enjoy it. When we're done there we go play and snorkel on Coki Beach. Coral World is a small place, not a all day place. You can interact with different animals, depending on what experience you like. The trainers are well informed and share a wealth of information.

Have you done the sea lion swim? If so, did you book through the ship or directly with Coral World?

  6. Right, I'm looking at Harmony of the seas on 3/18 which is well into Final payment already.

I was going to book directly with RCI as people told me the prices were about the same but not really .. $3200 with RCI for balcony with no OBC. $2900 with TA with $200 OBC thats a $500 difference.

3200? For how many? And I assume that is total. I just priced the same, I am sailing on HOS on 3/18 with 3 adults and a 12 yr old and the total price is $4656.16. That is $10 cheaper than when I booked in early December. I have been told that TA's prices are typically pretty close to what RC offers, but TAs who book with RC a lot will have certain perks that RC does not always offer.

  7. Think Art Van. There will be another sale with a different name.

I've learned to book what I want and then I keep checking prices to compare with what I booked. The last few cruises we have done I haven't seen a price drop.

Remember too that once the final payment date has passed, RC will not give a refund if you see a lower price. You maybe able to upgrade your room and pay the difference.

  8. When I booked in early December for a March cruise it was get every 3rd night free. Then I think it went to what it is now. The timer counts down and the gist of the sale has continued, but there may be a change in OBC or discounted deposit. Not sure how long the guts of the sales run before going to something different. It has been what it is now for a few weeks now.

  9. its not that bad there for locals selling at all..much worse elsewhere in my experiences.

But other than that....you have everything else spot on about it!

Anywhere else you will need to pay for cabs there and back, as well as higher prices once there or get a package deal at a resort for the day.

I would check it out first....its about a 10 mins walk..if you don't like it, lots of time to go elsewhere..

It looks like there is a beach, and it may be part of Junkanoo, to the west in the Fish Fry area. Any experience there? I want to try some of the restaurants at Fish Fry.

  10. So, if I am reading most of the posts correctly, Junkanoo is a so-so beach with cheap booze and the ability to rent chairs and umbrellas and possibly get free wifi. But along with that there will be locals trying to sell stuff and can be pushy. So, if all that is the case, where can I go and just relax on the beach in Nassau/Paradise Island?

  11. Exactly! MTD would suit you best, it sounds! That way, you can choose what time you want to eat each evening! And, since it's only YOUR family at a table, you can go at your own pace!

    Much nicer than the buffet!

I have MTD selected. This is my first time with MTD, all my other cruises have been the set times. Do I need to make my time selection ahead of time or can I just show up during dinner time?
