  1. Thanks for looking! I'll keep checking around. Haven't found any travel agents who still have it available.

Have you ever heard of wikiPEDIA......try the website with the rhyming name! :)

    OR

You can also Google that travel website famous for their GARDEN GNOME.

Ask the gnome the VELOCITY that he TRAVELS at...... wink, wink.

    OR

Have you ever wanted to fly to low earth ORBIT? Try the website with the rhyming name as well.

Don't you ever forget that Google Is Your Friend.

  2. We're 3 adults going on the Epic in May, we are flying in from London and are looking for transfer suggestions to the ship. Can anyone help?

    Thank you

Cheapest is buying what is called a T10 ticket for public buses and the Metro.

It gives you 10 rides on buses and the Metro. 3 persons can share 1 ticket as long as the ticket is scanned for every person while boarding the bus or Metro.

The T10 ticket costs Eur10. The bus from the airport stops at Plaza Catalunya and you can either walk to the ship from there or take the Metro or bus and get off at Drassanes for an even shorter walk to the ship. Luggage IS allowed on both the buses and the Metro.

We have done it numerous times!!! Easy peasy and dirt cheap!

  3. Thank you for the excellent review. My wife and I have done that Hawaii run twice, and really enjoy them. Especially when Elua is aboard. I have a quick question about the new CD if you don't mind. Is he the same guy that's at the podium in the photo I'm including. If so, I'm glad he got promoted to CD. He was one of the Staff on our Ruby cruise last year, and thought he was outstanding. His music trivia's were hysterical. Very outgoing and friendly.

All GREAT guys.....yes, Dave Clark (at the podium) as well as Angela Kristensen (first from left) are now BOTH cruise directors....Dave is on the Star and Angela is on the Ruby (as of Dec 2016).

Ana Dulce and Aaron Hawking (the other two in the pic) are both fantastic entertainment dept staff. Aaron definitely has potential to make it to cruise director, even though he is still very young.

Like I said, a fantastic group of people, I have cruised with all of them numerous times as recently as last month. Dave and Angela will be teaming up together again, I believe in March or April this year. Since they are both cruise directors, Dave will be playing second fiddle to Angela since she has seniority over him with Princess - per Dave himself.

  4. I visited various WWII cemeteries in Normandy in the late 80s.

The vast majority of them are impeccably maintained.

I remember crying like a baby at the grave-site of my uncle.

War is such a HORRIBLE thing.....so many young lives lost, so

    many, many dreams shattered.

It is an emotionally draining experience reading the names and

ages of the fallen heroes, no matter which side they were on.

To think of what could have been.

  5. Typically during Spring Break, NCL does not allow the purchase of beverage packages which really cuts back on the partying. NCL does have a full security team onboard and there is a padded cell (AKA the "drunk tank") for those who are out of control. We have sailed during Spring Break without incident, but we are also in The Haven so are sheltered from the majority of people onboard. Spring Breakers don't tend to go in the Spa and we spend most of our time in there and other time by The Haven Pool and in our suite.

The WORST offenders I have seen in my 50 or so cruises were NOT spring-breakers but two 70-80 year old males coming to blows in the elevators because one them thought there was room for one additional person in the elevator and one thought there was not! An argument flared up and that leads to a physical altercation within seconds!

So yes, SOME old farts are just as bad if not worse than spring-breakers.

  6. what makes me a little sad here is that people on the boards (myself included) have been begging for a review of cc from someone who has experienced it. So a cruiser in cc uses their internet minutes and cruise time to post their impressions- and then it is a big old pile-on over one sentence in the review. Just a a reminder- a review is an individual's personal perspective. You can like it or not- it is still their perspective.

Personally, i am very, very grateful that the op took the time to post. Thank you for your impressions.:)

    this !!!

  7. Nonrefundable is used first. Then as you continue spending (gratuities, drinks, etc), refundable starts to disappear.

Once you get home, watch your mail carefully until the check arrives...it looks like junk mail. Open all envelopes especially the kind that require you to rip off the ends in order to open.

On Dec 1, 2016 I received a refund from Princess for refundable obc from a a cruise I took in November, the amount was $279.76 and it was in a REGULAR envelope. It was NOT one of those junk mail things that you have to "rip the ends in order to open".

I am expecting another refund of $306.94 from Princess for refundable obc from a cruise I took in mid-December 2016. When I receive this, I will post a pic of the envelope.

  8. The new forms allow you to modify service charges up or down now; you can even specify a worker by name who you want to give more to if you don't want it to go to the general pool. If there is an issue there is space provided to explain. They no longer have you email or fax the form in; turn back into GS and modification handled within 24 hours.

I don't know what the process is if you want it removed completely; only experienced was with up and down.

Thank you for posting this info, good to know.

  9. I read several threads recently that some ships are not issuing S & S cards at checkin. They said that they would be in your mailbox outside of your cabin. Does anyone know if this is true or not? I contacted my PVP and he told me that there is some new technology "in the works" which might eliminate the S & S card. I have read some material that confirms this. Was wondering if they have stopped issuing the cards at checkin on any ships at this time.

    Thank you for posting this.

    Useful info to know.

  10. On the Crown in Nov last year:

Bora Bora: I snorkeled and snorkeled and snorkeled like forever!

I took off and did not return until 2-1/2 hours later.

I went from knee deep water to snorkeling around those hotel

bungalows over the lagoon and then continued to the deep end.

The water was crystal clear, even in the deep end of the lagoon,

    you could see forever.

And those huge, beautiful manta rays, marvelous creatures.

The following day in Moorea I tried to do the same thing....

I consider myself a good, strong swimmer.

But after the shallow lagoon became deep, the strong current

started dragging me out to the open water and in a matter of

seconds I was being dragged further out to sea and away from

land. If it was not for this small boat that appeared from nowhere,

I would not be writing this today!

  11. Yes there is a large assortment of animals at the terminal.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

    Keith,

And some killer duty-free deals at the cruiseship terminal. A couple of years ago they had a deal going on for 4 cartons (800 cigs) of Marlboro for $40, and it was Class A Virginia tobacco! That was an insane deal for the smokers.

  12. I'm dyin' here!

I'm not finding hardly any deals on any cruise lines. I guess the cruise lines are filling their berths or just biting the bullet holding the line on price. Pre-paid gratuities is real money, but I couldn't care less about free booze, premium dining or Internet and I cruise solo so 3rd and 4th guest free means nothing to me.

I hope something breaks soon or my only hope is a last minute TA until next September.

I hear you Lido Deck and I feel your pain as well!

  13. From the cruiseship pier to old-town Cartagena it is an easy 30 minute or so walk. There you can spend hours wandering the beautiful walled city.

Once I met, talked to and had pictures taken in the old town with Miss Colombia. She was working on a photo shoot. Another time we got caught up in some political demonstration that was taking place right at the entrance of the old city. Now THAT was interesting.

We have done it numerous times and even though the neighborhood one walks through leaves a lot to be desired for, we NEVER felt unsafe. The people along the way are JUST wonderful to stop and talk to/with.

There are much worse, more dangerous and certainly more violent neighborhoods in any given major city back home in the USA.

  14. I've been watching for months now, and have yet to see anything close to what we paid just a year ago... Not only is the cruise itself more expensive, but the perks are not as great either. Last year in addition to being able to pick 2 of the Free At Sea offers, we also had the 3rd and 4th guest sail free, plus a free 50 photo package AND $100 OBC.

Any insight as to whether deals this good will ever come around again?

We used to find killer last-minute deals in January after the holidays....sailing IN January.

Not the last couple of years we haven't, this new year seems to be even worse. Nothing on NCL, nothing on Princess, nothing on Carnival. At least

not at the $50 (person per day + port charges/taxes/fees) price point or less we are used to paying for last-minute deals.
