We have had exceptionally good weather. It’s been in the high 50s the entire time. Today hit low 60s and in the sun you would contemplate shorts. But it was cloudy most of the morning and finally cleared this afternoon. We should have another sunny day tomorrow as well thanks to a high pressure system that came in. I hear you on packing we had the same struggles. I recommend layers and plan for rain. Waterproof shoes will be a lifesaver and a good rain coat to avoid umbrellas is key as well.

seems they really only have 1 formal night and another they essentially suggest as formal. The issue is our first sea day isn’t until day 7 which is why they had it in Guernsey. That and we departed there at 4 with an all about at 3 versus all the other ports at 7pm or later. So it kind had to be that day.

you’ll have a great time. It’s been an epic trip thus far.

Sounds wonderful!  😊 Hope that high pressure system lasts for two more weeks!!  🤣

it’s another beautiful morning in Dublin

    Hi,

We are on this same cruise next week and can’t wait!  Thank you so much for all of the amazing information you have provided about the ship and of the ports.  And we love the photos too!  Th food looks delicious!

Your weather does look lovely.  Just wondering what the temperatures have been?  We usually cruise in warmer climates, so finding it harder to pack for this one.  🫤

I was surprised to see that your first ‘formal’ night was when you were in Guernsey and the next one is called something else the second last evening.

Looking forward to reading more as you continue on your cruise!

  3. It's very easy to get to Pisa by train from La Spezia. There is a regional train that leaves La Spezia Centrale at 9:12 AM on weekdays and Saturdays, arriving at Pisa San Rossore at 10:20 (the fare for this train is Euro 5,20 in second class and Euro 7,80 in first). San Rossore is the station before Pisa Centrale and is only a five minute walk from the Piazza dei Miracoli, where the tower is.

If you want to climb the tower, it's best to reserve your tickets in advance on their web site here: http://boxoffice.opapisa.it/Torre/first.jsp

I was just reading up on this thread as we were hoping to go to Pisa by train from La Spezia. Sounds like passing that up for time in Cinque Terre is the way to go.

You didn't mention anything about the train schedule for Sundays. And we are in port on a Sunday!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Great info to know ahead of time. Thanks very much AF-1.

  5. Sounds like you mean Teppanyaki style restaurant where they cook your food on a grill in front of you.

That's exactly what I am looking for and was hoping to find it at Izumi's. :) Oh, well! It isn't going to ruin my cruise by any means! :p Thanks for the explanation--I'll know for another time.

  6. No, Izumi is strictly sushi and hot rocks. Don't expect a show, but expect great service and good sushi. :)

Thanks, Michele. I won't bother making a reservation at Izumi--I'll wait and go to a Japanese restaurant in Toronto that will put on a show.

By the way, thank you for your awesome review and photos (so far). That's a lot of work and it is greatly appreciated!! We are going on the Allure in October and are really excited about seeing the ship--especially after seeing your beautiful pictures. :D

  7. I'll try to answer any questions.

I have always wanted to have dinner in a Japanese Restaurant--just to experience the "show" the chef puts on when he is making your meal right in front of you. :D Does the Izumi Restaurant do this? If so, at lunch or just dinner?

    Thanks :)
