  1. I get motion sickness on pretty much any mode of transport. Years ago I got sea sick on a smaller Carnival ship, also out of Mobile. We were sailing through remnants of a tropical storm so it was quite rough.  My cabin was down low, but at the front, and I was miserable that first night. Going up to dinner and on deck helped me but I also took non drowsy Dramamine. I plan on bringing Bonine as a preventative on my upcoming cruise, but honestly,  that was the only cruise out of many that I have ever been unwell on.

Its not easy to do based on cabin and bed configuration, but I have also found that different sleeping directions help me too. Sometimes I need to sleep across - like pointing port to starboard, and other times I need to be sleeping bow to stern. I am weird, but it helped me.

I get sicker in cars and planes than ships for some reason.

I hope you are able to find a good solution!

I'm not worried about cruising, flying, eating a restaurant, attending a movie, attending a concert, or any other life activity. I'm vaxxed and boosted.  Sure, there are a few people who are vaccinated and who still get covid, but the illness are milder - which is what the vaccine is supposed to do - and therapeutics are available.

Consider this information from the CDC and see who is causing the spikes from the variants.

CDC COVID Data Tracker: Rates of COVID-19 Cases and Deaths by Vaccination Status

Exactly. At my workplace, every employee is vaccinated. I am boosted. We currently have an outbreak of Covid among us because of the busy summer travel season. It is a mild outbreak with people only fee!ing bad for a few days compared to what we (as a workgroup) went through in early 2020.

I still have not officially tested positive in the past two years although I'm quite sure I've had to have had it at some point since coworkers and husband have both tested positive for it. That to me is proof that vaccines do their job.

  3. That's correct, July 6 was the last customs check. However, I wouldn't fret too much about the next one. July 6, even after the customs check, people were off the ship faster than we were on July 13. The only difference was we weren't allowed into our cabins until 2 p.m. since the cabin stewards were off the ship and couldn't clean the staterooms.

  4. We just booked the Conquest sailing 02/22/09. I was wondering how much movement you feel on this ship? I have sailed on both the Carnival Paradise and the Carnival Pride. I know that those are ships are smaller and older plus the Pacific Ocean is a rougher than the Gulf of Mexico... Any comparison would be appreciated.

I just got off the Conquest 7/6/08 sailing and we had smooth seas the whole way. The second sea day we really sped up and I felt vibration in the Monet dining room and motion in the show lounge, but I think that was from the speed more than anything. I never felt a thing in my cabin. I'm the motion sickness queen and never needed ginger or other meds. However, I did see some people who were not feeling well, but that could easily have been too much rum punch. ;) Basically, the very aft and very forward parts of the ship had more motion. The middle (where my cabin was) was smooth. I'm sure it all depends on the weather too.

  5. I've heard from someone on the ship that crew check is tomorrow July 6

For those of you that are interested, this was correct. I was chatting with my cabin steward tonight and he told me that they went through it on July 6. So reset your calendars!

Last night on board, boooooooo. :(

The Conquest Crazies are right on, this has been a wonderful cruise. Although I'm feeling a little lonely since I'm not from Texas. ;)

  6. Has anyone heard anything more about the next 90 day customs check? We're trying to get a feel for if it will fall on July 6th or the 13th.

I'm positive now that it falls on the 13th because I booked a 1000 a.m. shuttle from the port back to the airport and I got an email yesterday from the transportation company rebooking me to the 1130 shuttle.

Not a big deal since my flight doesn't leave until 1:30 p.m., but it makes me wonder if they are used to the Conquest schedule and know an early departure off the ship isn't happening that day.

  7. I cruised on Valor two years ago and we did the top itinerary plus Costa Maya. I absolutely loved Roatan and had no problems in Belize so I'd be thrilled to go back to those places.

Roatan was tons of fun and everyone was friendly. Belize was quite pretty and while it rained and we couldn't go cave tubing we did go to a very nice national park and it was gorgeous.

I've never been to Cozumel though, so I'm looking forward to going there in just over two weeks.

  8. I'm getting off Conquest on July 13, so I will let everyone know how it went as far as the immigration 90 day check. I'd rather be late getting off the ship than on, but I am just a little skittish about catching my flight. It's at 2:30 p.m. out of HOU though, so I should be ok.

Ok, on another note. I think I've had all my Conquest questions answered, thanks everyone.

One more though - do the rooms have the small washcloths? I don't exactly want to drag a hand towel into the shower and can always bring my own washcloth. Just trying to plan the packing. I know one little square towel won't make a difference really but every last little thing I don't have to pack is important. ;)

    Thanks!

  9. Since so many people are asking about Capers more recent than the ones available now:

Many people are cruising right now since it's peak summer season, can someone post them somewhere when they return and post the link? I'm sure all will appreciate it.

That way the thread won't have pages and pages of email addresses that spam programs can pick up on and bombard you with junk mail.

    Just a thought... ;)

  10. When I book a 1A I am specifically booking the ones with the windows. I don't want an upgrade unless it's to an outside cabin. I would turn down any upgrades to a regular inside. If I can't get those specific 1A's I'll book an outside.

I booked a 1A guarantee and got a 1A cabin assignment which is fine because it is one that has the two twins that can be pushed together.

For the cruise after that I booked the 1A with the windows so I won't play the guarantee game anymore. I like picking my room when it's a good one like those sweet windows or the two twins pushed together. Heaven for a single!

  11. WE loved the Harbour House, we walked to the cruise terminal took all of 5 minutes. The rooms were big and we got a view of the cruise ships! If you get up early (6am) you can watch the ships come in. IT was awesome!

I'm staying at Harbor House before my cruise in July. Do all the rooms loook onto Conquest? The website says all rooms have harbor views but I can imagine looking toward the opposite side. Any rooms you'd suggest requesting? I'm so looking forward to a pleasant walk to the pier. :D

  12. That's what I figured out. I even calculated 90 days exactly, and it's right in the middle of the July 6 cruise, so I'd imagine the arrival/departure on July 13th will be the nightmare.

Dang it. Does anyone know how long debarkation takes on those days? I don't really mind waiting to embark, but now I'm worried about catching my flight home on July 13. Guess I better start checking into Southwest's rebooking options. :(

  13. Jenna, I might be able to answer your question. I did this in Costa Maya, and it sounds exactly the same. Anyway, they did have the section for the swim sectioned off with chicken wire or wire of some sort, so no fishies. I love fishing, I love the ocean, but fishies between my legs sends me squealing.

If they do it the same way in Cozumel, I think it'll just be you, the dolphins, and your own personal saltwater swimming pool.
