We've booked for our very first cruise, and I'm starting to think of fun ways to tell the kids that we're going (they've wanted to go on a cruise for years but we couldn't afford to until now). They're 8 and 10.
Has anyone got a fun story about how they 'announced' the cruise to their kids as a surprise?

Thanks folks, lots of really informative responses that I'm enjoying reading.
We have some photos purchased on our first cruise. (My avatar in the corner of this post for instance.) However, it was pretty much a "first cruise thing" and I can totally understand anybody who does this. The first cruise is AMAZING. Nothing had prepared me for it. I'm always just a little bit jealous when I hear someone say it's their first cruise. You only get that experience once. :)Awww, how lovely are you! Thank you - I am SUPER excited. And your avatar photo is gorgeous.

Has anyone had success buying this package for a 2018 cruise? The advertisement shows up in my cruise personlaliser but not the ability to purchase it. I wonder if its because my cruise is so far out.
Edit: Ignore me, I just found the answer in another thread :)

I'm on the fence about whether to book the photo package for our very first cruise, mainly because I'm not really sure what styles/backgrounds the photographers tend to use. If anyone has examples from their own cruises and didn't mind posting, I'd love to see them. :)

Thanks for all the replies. I live in New Zealand where Customs are VERY strict about bringing food into the country which is why I asked - I'm not sure how strict the Baltic countries are about it. :)

Don't know what brochure you are looking at but the Sapphire definitely had an IC and Alfredo's and we enjoyed both before she left the West Coast for Asia [emoji27] They are across for each other on Plaza deck [emoji4]

Oh that's so good to know! And she's coming back from Asia. Will be out of Southampton next year :)

Thanks for that invaluable piece of info IECalCruiser! We're on her in May on a Japanese itinerary.
Having been on one of her sisters, the Sapphire a year ago (and loved her), I must admit I was a bit shocked and disappointed that the Diamond doesn't have the International Cafe, or Alfredo's! Ouch!
While not a 'showstopper', what am I going to do for my late night pizza and sandwich snacks?! :p
Cheers,
Darren
Wait, does Sapphire have an International Cafe? I thought she didn't? (But that's only going off my Princess brochure, not any personal experience).

I've just booked a 14 night Baltic on Sapphire in Sept 2018, out of Southampton. I notice in her schedule that she's still in Singapore until late March 2018, with a two week gap between her last Asia cruise and her transit across to Europe. I guess they'll be doing a mini refit in those two weeks? It says on the website that the rebranded kids clubs will be on Sapphire in March 2018, so that would make sense. I wonder what else they'll change?

I have read conflicting things about whether you can put a couple of pastries and some fruit from the buffet in your bag for a quick snack on the run, particularly in the Baltic ports. Does anyone know either way?

I'm also about to make a Fall 2018 booking so this is really good info. Thanks :)

Does anyone have the answer to the same question, but for Princess? I can't find it on their website, although it's entirely possible I'm looking in the wrong places.

I've booked Sapphire ex Southampton round trip Baltics in Sept 2018, so I'll be a bit miffed if she ends up in Sydney that week :-P
