  1. We are considering the QM2 as an enjoyable way to get to Europe without the jet lag. We will then be doing a bike tour and other ground activities. We won't want to drag formal wear around Europe with us. I would like to know how you shipped your formal wear home and what qualified as proof for the duty. These are not new items so I certainly don't still have receipts.

I also won't be stopping back in NY so I assume they will be held at the post office near my home, correct?

  2. It's very easy to do the Cinque Terre on your own from La Spezia. We used the train system to see 3 of the towns. We could have fit in a 4th, but didn't want to be stressed out! Absolutely gorgeous area. We were so glad we went there!

LisaLisa87, Just for clarification, you did it on your own during an excursion from a cruise, not as part of time you spent in Italy before or after a cruise. Correct?

  3. We are considering Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas for a Med cruise after some land days in Italy. Cinque Terre and the Amalfi coast are on our bucket list of things we want to see. Will this cruise see them from land and sea (ports Sorrento and La Spezia) or should we take time before the cruise to experience them? Don't want to miss them but also don't want to duplicate. We can do other things on land portion if this is well covered by ship's excursions. Cruise Sept 20, 2018

  4. We are headed north out of Hong Kong. Looking at the average temps for the ports as shown on Vacation to go's web site, it looks like 40's with possible 50's with the exception of Hong Kong which could be warmer. We are sailing on Feb 28 and the site may be showing Feb temperatures even though it will be March for most of the cruise. I hope it will be a bit warmer as we are from Maui and we get cold pretty easily.

Your comment is giving me hope!

  5. We are booked on the 2/28/17 14 day sailing out of Hong Kong on the Volendam. I realize temperatures are in the 40's and 50's if we are lucky. But the information says there is a heated pool. Are there actually people swimming? We normally travel only with a carry - on so I don't want to bring swim suit, goggles, coverup etc if it is not warm enough. Does anyone have any information about this. I realize it would not be used by many cruisers but wondering if it is usable in those temperatures.

    Thanks
