  1. Trainman-2:

Like many others before me I sat her this morning and have read through the entire thread. Heartwarming to say the least.

I don't know what your walking issues are but I have severe OA in both knee's. Last May while on a cruise I finally decided to look into the Philip Stein watches. Previously I never want to invest $$$ into one of these watches since I was skeptical of their benefits. Well last May when I went into one of the stores they just had begun selling the Fruitz watches (they are Philip Stein but a lot less expensive) so I decided to try one. Within a half hour I was able to walk up a flight of stairs like a normal person. That night I wore it to bed and slept like a baby for the first time in years, matter of fact I missed breakfast. I also noticed that the normal carpal tunnel pain was gone. That day I was able to walk around the ship without having to stop and rest, by the afternoon I felt like I could dance. In about a week of wearing the watch 24/7 except for showering, all the pain and stiffness of the OA has disappeared and I'm still sleeping like a baby. The watches cannot make any medical claims, but do advertise 'feel good watch' and help with insomnia. You can do a Google search to buy them online. One big brand store sells them online and they have a men's in gold or silver. Might be something you want to try. We never know what will work for us, until we try something new. All I can say is that it has changed my life and now I am enjoying life so much more. Maybe someday we'll meet on a cruise!

  2. While I was on the Jewel last November, it was a nightmare for me and GF Food. I had pre-ordered through the access desk, but on board was another experience. I only had 3 items actually on the ship from the list I ordered with and those weren't available until the last night of the cruise. This was a nightmare cruise for me and waking up in the middle of the night with severe hunger pains is not fun. I even had them tell me in the main dining room there was nothing on the menu I could have and to go to the Garden Cafe!

Make sure you see the Restaurant Manager - do not listen to them that you only need to see a Maitre'D - that didn't work for me at all and by accident on the last night of the cruise I actually got to meet the Restaurant Manager and told her my story - she was horrified and made the last day so much better.

Also each day ask for the next days menu and pre-order your meals - they can do anything on the menu in GF.

  3. I guess all good things must come to an end - just so very sad. We've really been treated well by NCL and love freestyle. I don't think we'll make it to $500 as we're at 201 now and no sense in buying to get those points because if ya can't pay it off you'll spend what credits you get in finance charges - so that's no savings. Although purchasing the coins sounds interesting. Now I'll just watch closely for really good deals and possible cruise closer to home. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone finds a really good point card. Thanks everyone for the great info!

  4. We're trying to decide where to snorkel as we have our own equipment. I see on Bannister Island they say:

The second longest Barrier Reef in the Western hemisphere is located just over 5 minutes by boat from the island. You can snorkel at "Gallows Point Reef" which boasts an impressive array of marine life.

What I gather is you take a water taxi over there ($30 rt) and then you have to take another boat from the island to snorkel - anyone know what they charge?

Also, if we try our luck at the pier, anyone else have experience having your own gear? reduced rates? TIA
