  1. I am also boarding in Rome this summer.

Our entire trip will be 15 nights including 3 nights in Rome, 1 night in Rome and 4 in Paris after.

My question in about Laundry, We anticipate having to use the bag laundry service offered mid cruise. Is it offered on a different day for those boarding in Rome than Barcelona?

I did use laundry service on my cruise. When I asked my housekeeper when was "laundry day", she said "everyday". I probably filled my bag on Day 3 and had it back on Day 4. Hope that helps. It sounds like you will have an amazing trip.

  2. I took this cruise itinerary last fall out of Rome. I boarded the ship around 12:30 and my (studio) cabin was ready. I am sure getting to the port between 11 and Noon would be fine. According to the disembarkation sheet everyone on the prior cruise is asked to leave the ship by 9AM.

Disembarking in Barcelona for an independent reserved shore excursion was a bit of a challenge as I had to get off with all the 3000 passengers that were leaving with their luggage, it was raining and it was Referendum day in Barcelona! Fortunately I allowed extra time and found my group.

I made some dining and show reservations ahead (I think you can do this 45 days out) but had no problem changing them once on the ship. If you have any other questions about the Rome itinerary, please feel free to ask.

  3. Check out was painless an uneventful. Our ride showed up at approx. 12:30 p.m., we stopped at two other hotels to pick up family and friends, and then were off to the ship.

Arriving around 1 p.m. was great, as it made for a swift check in, and our room was ready when we boarded.

We had an aft balcony, room 12309, bed by the bath. I personally didn't like this setup as it was a lot of shimmying between the beds and sink to get either in or out of the room. I did see the bed by the balcony set up and thought it looked a lot better. The balcony was a decent size, so we asked for a lounger and one was delivered and set up when we came back from the emergency briefing. We ate at O'Sheehan's I believe and did the emergency briefing. I went up to the Spice H20 to meet my cruise critic group and I have no pictures to tell me what I did for the rest of the day.

Hi Toni -I just stumbled across your review and fantastic photos. Hope you'll continue reviewing OUR cruise since you went to different places in Rome and from the ship than I did except for our last day together with Lorenzo! Keep going girl...and thanks for letting me relive the trip!

  4. I used http://www.civitavecchiaport.org/shared-shuttle-service/ and it was called a car for 2 and had no issue adding them. And walked off around 6:30. As most get on/off in Barcelona getting off in Rome was very quick and easy. There was very few walk offs.

Yes, those were the other 2 places on the tour. It was a great tour. The driver did say he would get me back in time and he did what he could to maximize the time in each stop.

Great. Thanks for the additional info.

  5. Thanks for taking the time to Post a review on the Epic out of Rome/Civitavecchia. I will be taking that voyage solo in September and hopefully the weather will be a bit cooler.

So sorry to hear that you still don't have your luggage. Gotta love American Airlines (SARCASTIC). I am also booked on them out of Philly direct to Rome. They have already changed my return flight to an earlier time (11:05AM) than I originally booked. My other choice was 45 minutes later through Charlotte and I said "no thanks."

I was interested in who you used for your limo ride back to FCO at 7AM. Was it Rome Cabs? Was there any problem adding your new friend at the last minute? I have, so far, not found anyone on our roll call who has an early flight. What time did you actually walk off the ship on the last day?

I read your Amalfi Coast trip and almost late return with baited breath as I have the same tour booked with Viator though I do have someone else on the Epic going with me. I think the two other towns you visited were Amalfi and Ravello!

So thanks again and I appreciate your answers to my questions when you get the chance.

  6. When we got GE, the Customs officer told us he didn't see why we would ever need to bring our actual cards with us unless we were driving. Thanks to someone on Cruise Critic siting the need to show the card one time, we determined we will always take the cards to be safe, and it really paid off on this last trip.

I appreciate your point. I have my GE interview next month and will be departing FCO in October so I will take my GE card with me and see what happens

  7. I think I am always off the ship by 8: am doing self walk-off. I hope this isn't on the Epic next month since my travel plans were planned expecting I can be off the ship by 7 in Rome.

I would be interested in knowing what time you do actually walk off the Epic in Civitavecchia. My airline just changed my return flight in October off the Epic to 11:15 AM so am wondering if I can make it to FCO airport by 8:15AM
