  1. Most of my cruises have been on Disney Cruise Line and my experience there was that the room steward folded the bunks away during the day so the sofa could be used.

I cruised the Vista last summer and the beds stayed out the entire time making the room very cramped for 4 people. I am assuming they stayed out because the room was serviced only once per day. If I ask for service twice per day, will the beds be put away? I am assuming I shouldn't attempt to fold them away myself.

We will be on the Vista again in 2 weeks so this was obviously not a deal breaker...just wondering what my options are.

  2. Take her to a dive in movie. Grab a few blankets and wrap up together in one lounger with her sitting up front between your legs :D Save 1 or 2 blankets in your cabin.

Wake up early on a sea day and take your movie blankets, beach towels and a tote of things you think your sweetheart would enjoy having for a day on the Serenity deck (book, earbuds, sunscreen, water bottle etc) . Head up to Serenity before 7am and reserve a clamshell in an out of the way location with your body. The blankets should keep you warm and you can go back to sleep until she wakes up. Leave her a note telling her to put on her bathing suit and come find you on the Serenity deck. When she gets there, she can reserve the clamshell while you go and grab the two of you some breakfast :D. Spend the day here until the two of you have had enough

If thats 80's romcom, sorry. Im just suggesting things that my hubby does for me that mean lots .

No Serenity deck on the Triumph.

Grab a couple of the fleece blankets early - they may be in short supply after the first movie.

Kudos to you for planning ahead. Hope your cruise and time in New Orleans is special.

  3. If I needed an appetizer size for my entree, would that be an issue? Or wanted a couple appetizer sizes for my entrée will I get odd looks? Sometimes, Bc of a medical issue, I just can't eat much at once.

Won't be a problem at all! There was a pasta dish I wanted to try, and I asked for an appetizer portion. The waiter said he couldn't promise it would be ready with our appetizers. Told him that was fine, and that I really wanted it with the rest of my meal.

Obviously there are some dishes that are more easily adapted to appetizer serving size. Order what you want and enjoy!

  4. The Erato parking garage is located at the top of the terminal and is $20/day. I agree that parking other places in New Orleans is pricey!

We arrived about 10:15 for 10:30 check-in during Spring Break. Didn't encounter masses of people at all.

If this link doesn't work, then Google Port of New Orleans and click on the tab for Cruises and follow the link to Passenger Info and then pick parking. http://www.portno.com/parking

Have a great time on the Triumph! I highly recommend the Sea Day Brunch...it's worth asking directions to the Paris dining room.

  5. I'd pack their swim trunks and a change of clothes...because ice cream happens!

If you are planning on using Camp Ocean, go check that out shortly after boarding. Even though I registered my boys for camp online, the staff still asked additional questions about allergies and such.

There will be plenty of sights and sounds to keep them occupied before you have access to your stateroom. I'd pack a few small toys so they'd have something to do once you're in the room. That will give you a chance to unpack and settle in.

    Have a great time!

  6. I enjoyed the Sea Day brunch in the Paris dining room. It's worth making your way there...even if you have to ask for directions. You can order an omelette and not have to stand in line. My filet mignon was perfectly cooked...yes, you can get a filet mignon as part of the brunch!

On debarkation day, there is a limited menu available there as well. (Ham and cheese omelette, Belgian waffles and pancakes to name a few). No line and quick service!

You can order a Continental breakfast through room service. There is a hanging card that you check off your choices and hang it outside by 5 am. Choices include yogurt, Danishes, muffins, assorted cereals, croissants, bagels, coffee, hot chocolate, milk and juices. My kids especially enjoyed the fruit plate. You select a window of time when you'd like it delivered (30-minute blocks starting at 6 am.)

I'll try to cover activities later...haven't finished unpacking from our cruise yet!

  7. Great Burgers!

PRO-TIP - The port side line will be huge. PLEASE take a second to check the Starboard side line. Most times it has only 5 or 6 people in it. This defies reason I know but it was always the case.

I was headed towards the buffet when I first noticed the second serving line at Guy's. Wasn't about to stand in line behind 25+ people for a burger!
