I can confirm this was indeed the case. Sailed Harmony on 6 January 2019.

I am trying to find more info on how this works.  If you have an IPhone, then Imessage works without purchasing internet? Or do you have to log in to something first and then can use Imessage? Sorry for all the questions!

We are on Harmony in March and trying to figure out what to tell my group (most have i phones)

    Thanks in advance!

    I booked on October 23, 2018 and paid $293.00.

Well, I finally talked to someone today, after numerous attempts and they fixed my issue.  I still don't know if there ever was a tour operator change/lack of sales/or whatever, but the person today who contacted me made it right.  And I always want to give credit where credit is due.

    Happy Sailing.

  3. Thanks for the input everyone - I am sure that it wasn't "intentional," and that is isn't a literal bait and switch - it is just extremely frustrating and I was using that term as a "figure of speech".

I have never had this happen before and was just really frustrated.

And I can't change my Title to remove the "bait and switch" (I just tried)

    Thanks!

Eample number 5,317 demonstrating cruisers are probably no ones favorite customer.  You could've cancelled for a full refund until the day before, but THIS gets your panties in a twist?

Sadly, I didn't want to cancel, I paid for this back in October to ensure I had the reservation in place.  I just find it odd that one can pay RCL for a service, only for them to cancel and offer the same exact thing to another passenger on the same day for a higher price, that's all.  If you are ok with being charged more for something that you already bought and paid for, lucky you.  I am in customer service and we would eat the cost for our error, or we would have had the new vendor accept the "booked" guests at their existing rate and this MAY have cost RCL at most, a whopping $700 for all the Cabanas in that section of the beach.  As a Multi-Billion Dollar company, I think they could have made things right.  Sorry, just my opinion.

This makes me nervous for our cruise in March.  I booked a cabana in November for $243. I have not gotten notice about a new "tour operator ". How were you initially contacted about it?

I got an email today for my sailing on this coming Friday.  I find it interesting if they did actually change tour operators that everyone wasn't notified at the same time.  Makes me wonder.  For reference, I booked/paid for it on October 10th.  Are you booked at COCO or Labadee because she stated "no changes" to my March cruise with a Labadee cabana.

  6. Thanks everyone I am fairly new to this board and don't see a "reply" button for individual comments (Sorry)-

    For additional information:

    • Sailing on Enchantment on 1/18/19
    • Royal is STILL selling these Deluxe Cabanas for this cruise date and stated that they are, infact, operational
    • Royal states that they changed "tour operators" for the Cabana which allows them to cancel and then I was told that I could "rebook" with the new tour operator at the HIGHER rate

I am having a hard time with a "fixed structure on land" having a different tour operator on Royal's private Island when the servers and cooks are from the Ship.  It isn't like I am taking a bus somewhere or doing a "tour"?  this is a hut on a beach.

    This makes me very sad/angry.

  7. So, I just was on the phone with RCL.  According to RCL - they STATE have switched tour operators for the Cabanas on CoCo Cay (although they won't tell me the names of the two different tour operators so that I can confirm this).

Thus, they did a Mass Cancel of the Cabanas and due to the terms and conditions of PRICE BEING SUBJECT TO CHANGE, I am free to book it again at the "higher price" with the new Tour operator.  Really?  For a Cabana, on their PRIVATE ISLAND STOP, they couldn't have moved us over to the new operator and "ate" the $60 difference??  What a shame.  Especially since the first CS agent told me that they cancelled everyone because they didn't sell enough.  Talk about a WOW moment for my cruise.  This was the only thing we had planned.

Seems like a Bait and Switch because I got a cabana when they were running the "sale" for it.

  8. FCFS meaning once you board the ship and go to the excursions desk? Or FCFS meaning whoever gets to the Cabana on the island first gets to pick which one they want?

First come first served on board at the shore excursion desk to pick your cabana. They show you a map and write your cabin number on it when you pick it. Then you have your cabana number and when you check in for your cabana on shore and get your wristband you then go right to the one you picked. (This is for coco cay. It is my understanding that it works differently on Labadee but I am still researching Labadee)

  9. Just came back from Mariner and COCO, on Embarkation day, when you board, go right to the shore excursion desk, they will pull up your reservation for the cabana and then show you the map of what is still available (They are FCFS for the choice of location) All of them are very nice, just depends on if you want one closer to the entrance or further away. It isn't that big of an area but if walking is an issue, pick one closer to the entrance area.

  10. Does anyone happen to know at which terminal Mariner will be docked for the July 2nd Sailing? This is our first self drive to Miami and I wasn't certain if there were "assigned" terminals for each ship or they were fcfs depending on what time they enter the port in the morning.

Thanks everyone! So excited to see the renewed Mariner - this is our second RCCL cruise (Freedom last year)

  11. Hello everyone, we are booked for Mariner July 2nd 2018 and I reserved a Cabana for that day on Coco Cay. MIL needs shade due to health issues and I wanted to guarantee that we have it. From the looks of the map, they have moved the Cabanas from the "rocky" area to an area with beach access. Is anyone able to confirm this? Has this move already happened or will it happen by the time we get to CocoCay? If not, Should I switch to a bungalow?

    Thanks!

  12. Thank you so much for all of the information! Your review is extremely helpful for first timers with RCL and on FOS (and new to CC). I have only made it to page 35 on the thread and this has probably been answered but I personally could use another explanation.

Now that we have "sprung ahead", what time should I tell our private tour on Grand Cayman to meet us (March 26 Sailing)? Cruise itinerary says 8-4pm in port, with being a private tour, we probably won't get off the ship until 9, right?

But my main concern is the "ship time versus island time". I organized this private tour and don't want to be responsible for 12 people not getting their money's worth for the private boat we rented (OR for missing the return tender as I am cheap and don't want to pay the airfare to get to the next port).

We have 5 hours for our 1/2 day rental from when we start but I want to make sure that I am communicating correctly with the tour operator.

thank you everyone! I really appreciate it!

One other question - For the Dolphin excursion in Cozumel, we need to get "observer tickets" (kids are doing it, we are not) - are they hard to get the observer tickets? Does anyone know what they cost OR if they sell out? The RCL customer service couldn't give me any of that information and I really don't want my two 13 year olds going on the excursion without me and I couldn't book the observer tickets online - you can only get them onboard????? Thanks!
