  1. Sorry, you can't change agents after final payment. If your current agent wont respond to your request, call the cruiseline and they will help you

Royal Caribbean has been no help for my case. In fall of 2016 my sister booked a family spring break cruise for 3/2017 through a travel agent. While on that cruise my husband and I booked a cruise for July of this year. Since our original cruise was booked through this TA we were attached to her for our 2nd one and it’s been a nightmare! She has had very little and poor communication. I’ve tried to have Royal Caribbean release me from her multiple times and they were no help. I finally just rebooked the cruise on my own and am still going through battles with her about my deposit. It has made something that I’ve looked forward to doing for years and absolute nightmare and full of stress. In fact I’ve just finished having words with again just a few minutes ago. I must say This has turned me off of TA’s for good. I will FYI everything going forward.

  2. We spent a lot of time thinking about this before we booked. We decided we wanted to be on the port side because we would be heading southbound so there would always be land on our side of the ship. We normally don't get balcony cabins but we did for this cruise because we figured we'd be spending a lot of time out there looking at scenery. As it turned out, we hardly spent any time out there. When there was something to look at, we wanted to be on one of the upper decks where we could walk from side to side. If we weren't outside, we were in the Viking Crown Lounge. Bottom line, I now think it doesn't matter where your cabin is. For me at least, I wanted to be out and about so I could see everything.

I’m so happy to read this! We are taking our dream trip to Alaska in 80 days! A little FYI land exploring on our own to Denali, Talkeetna, Anchorage and Seward before boarding the ship. We are celebrating our 15th anniversary and my husband’s 40th birthday with our daughter (11). This is not a cheap trip for us and we decided that we’d rather have money to “do stuff” than a room with a view, so we booked an interior cabin. My sister took this same cruise about 20 years ago and told us that we’d be fine. That she spent a lot of time on deck and not in the cabin but it seems like most on here think that the balconies are the only way to go.

  3. I had to wait until our passports arrived to complete my registration. Once I did our stateroom was assigned almost immediately. It was on the 3rd deck. [emoji53] I read in some other posts that you can call and ask for another room so I figured it was worth a shot. Easiest transaction I’ve had to date. They asked what deck I preferred and gave me my new cabin number. Worth the wait as far as I’m concerned!

  4. I am looking at the Musher’s Camp and Dog Sled Experience in Skagway. RCCL is running it on sale through midnight. My questions are:

What is the best time to go? The have 8:30, 12:30 & 1:30 available.

But I’d also like to do the White Pass Summit Railroad. Would that be too much in a day? The musher is on my daughter’s bucket list so that’s a must do at some point on the cruise.

  5. If the excursion is on sale it will have a banner across the corner of the picture saying the price reflects the sale price.

I looked through all of the excursions and saw no banners so I take it as my cruise has nothing on sale. :/

  6. I received an email stating that certain excursions are on sale for 25% off. When I followed the link, it signed me into my cruise. I’ve looked through the different excursions and can’t tell what ones are on sale. In fact all of the prices look the same. What am I missing? How can I find out what excursions are included in the sale?

  7. I don't think this was a money issue, it was an 'attitude' issue!

A large group who thought because they were a large group could do/say/act any way they wanted!

99.9% of large groups would never think of acting like this, cause it's not normal, it is mentally ill! From the reporting, this large group had an 'attitude', as those on the ship stated, they were looking for trouble from day one!

It’s referring back to statement at the beginning of the thread that said these brawls happen because the new lowered rates are allowing “ferals” to cruise.

  8. The female security guard was only interested in smacking the phone out of the person filming, since she was useless otherwise.

Wow, I now feel LESS safe after watching this.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I noticed that too. I would’ve had a real issue that I would be addressing with Carnival after the dust settled if that was me holding the phone. They obviously were not interfering. And as long as security was following proper protocol the video should be their least concern.

  9. More evidence of the fact that the cruise lines have lowered the bar so far that the ferals are now able to afford a ticket. Another great reason to avoid mass market cruise ships.

Snoody much?! Those lowered prices have afforded my family to expand our vacation options and also allow for more that just one trip a year. Now that more schools are going to a balanced calendar with a 2 week Spring Break and a week long Fall Break, we have 3 decent chances for getaways. So maybe instead of referring to us frugal conscious consumers as “Ferals” you should remember that my family’s money spends just as well as yours.

  10. We like the perk at certain times. When we drive to the port there is no hurry to get off the ship. We are in northern Illinois and it’s a long day of travel when we fly. So we like the perk of getting off early, and on our way home.

What ports do you usually drive to? I am in Central Indiana and would love to cruise more, it’s the addition of airfare for 3 that usually stops us.

  11. We will be cruising Alaska the beginning on June. My daughter’s only wish is to go dog sledding. I realize that at lower elevations there won’t be snow and most cruise excursions are actually more of a 4 person, elevated cart being pulled by dogs. I am looking for a one person, on the ground in the basket adventure. Is there anything (private company or otherwise) that offers this option in June?

Our ports will be Anchorage/Denali Park 2 days pre-cruise

    Seward

    Juneau

    Skagway

    Ketchikan and

Vancouver (only 12 hours post cruise)

If not, have any of you done the other version? Was it disappointing?

  12. We disembark Friday morning in Vancouver and our flight does not leave until 11:20pm. We would like to spend some time exploring the city before heading to the airport. I know Royal Caribbean has a post cruise hop on/hop off excursion with airport drop off but I’d like to explore the option of dyi. Are there any luggage storage options available? Or luggage valet to from ship to airport? Also is there any perks to going through the cruise line, like early

    Disembarkment?

  13. Rules on this forum do not allow members to recommend travel agencies by name so this can't be done without being reprimanded.

Best is to do an online search to see what online agencies are offering.

One of the regular ones we used in the past was offering free gratuities and an additional $50/cabin loyalty bonus for the two balcony cabins we booked for our next cruise for us and grandkids at last week's GGG sale offering. Those extras bonuses will save us over $500US.

My TA is AWFUL!! I’ve asked time and time again, what’s the point of booking through them and then I see this.

We did a group cruise spring break last year and my sister signed us all up through a local TA the summer before (8/16). I didn’t have any communication with her until I called to make our final payment (1/17) she then contacted some of the groups saying that she printed their paperwork about a week before the cruise (3/17). No contact with me though. They told me so I ran to her office to get whatever paperwork she had. Turns out I had already printed and completed everything on my own.

On that cruise (again March/17) we booked another cruise for this July. I guess since we booked the original cruise through her we got attached to her again for this cruise. No one in the group heard from her, no confirmations of the new cruise have been emailed, no communication at all.

Last month everyone had decided to bail on this trip except for us. As of Sunday they still have no idea if she has canceled their cruises as they requested. I called to move our cruise from July to June. Which she did do but even though I requested confirmation through email, nothing was ever sent. And she said she would look up flights for us and possible lodging in Anchorage and Denali. Silence on that as well.

Then comes the WOW sale. It drops $300 off our cruise and gives us an extra $25 obc. Not much but we are trying to be as economical as possible. After all, that extra money will cover an excursion we plan on doing. So I call RCCL. Find out all the details and then they tell me that I HAVE to go through her. Sale runs Saturday and Sunday only. So I call a mobile number I have for her and with a service industry (sarcasm) attitude, she informs me that she doesn’t work on Saturday and wants to know why the urgency. I told her that the sale only ran through Midnight Sunday or I would’ve waited, that I tried to go through RC myself and couldn’t and that if she’d like to conference call them real quick I’d be happy to do everything. I just needed her to complete the process. She agreed she would call.

Sunday I get an email from her simple stating that’s the best price they have. I know for a fact that’s bs so my husband handed me his card and says book it again, ON YOUR OWN. He’s fed up with her as well. So we are now double booked on the same cruise and she has yet to respond to my email telling her to cancel the first reservation. Luckily at most, we’ll only be out $50 if she doesn’t but really I believe TAs, in general, is a dying industry. There are only 2 left in this town when there used to be many. You’d think she’d want to keep people coming back.

  14. The favorite part of our Alaska cruise was sitting on our balcony watching the glaciers. With an inside cabin you have to get dressed and go to an observation area with lots of other people. Not my cup of tea. But if $$$ are in issue, I understand.

We discussed all options but the price difference between an interior room and a view is $900-$1100 and balcony is $2500-$2700. That pays for a lot of excursions!

  15. With a Z GTY booking, you are very likely going to get an inside - you can hope to get an assignment early so that you may have a chance to move to another more desirable location.

We are already booked in an interior cabin. We figure Alaska is an adventure trip and all about the ports, not relaxing in the cabin so we want to spend the extra money on excursions. My worry is that this would put us on a lower deck or by machinery.

  16. I selected this option in January for a cruise in March and its driving me bananas. They haven't assigned us a room yet. I wouldn't do this again, my nerves can't handle it.

I assumed we wouldn’t know until cruise time. It is a gamble but I’ve also heard that they pull from this category for upgrades once interior cabins sell out.

  17. We are looking at an Alaskan cruise for this summer (as budget friendly as possible) and if we book the “we pick your cabin” rate we will save an additional $300 off the interior room rate.

I am wondering if any of you have selected this option before and if so what rooms were you assigned?

  18. I just booked the train to Whittier for our July cruise, and was told our luggage goes by truck and gets handed straight to the cruise line porters. We won’t see the luggage till it’s at our cabin.

Did you book through the cruise or did you book through AK railroad yourself? We will be booking through AK railroad and not the cruise line.

  19. We will be taking the AK railroad from Anchorage to Seward the morning of our cruise. According to the schedules we should arrive in Seward around 11am but we don’t leave port until 8pm. I know we need to get to the ship at least a couple hours before that but we would also like to spend sometime exploring Seward.

What do you do with all of your luggage after you get off the train?

Can we check our luggage in at the port and then go explore?

Can we go through the whole boarding process for the ship, drop what we want in the cabin and then go back into land to explore?
