  1. No beaches in Santorini??? Pleeeeeeeeease! Give me a break! Who says that?? Look on the map. You can get there even taking a public bus from the bus station in Fira. To Kamari or Perissa-Perivolos. For the rest you need to know the places and to have wheels

But no walk, of course. One side of the island is a cliffside, while the other is almost flat. That is the side you need. The port, though, is on the cliffside, that's why you need to drive to have a swim

  2. Mykonos.

But in Mykonos you've got to go to some certain beaches with the parties, and need transportation for that. The beaches are about half an hour away from the port by car (depending on the beach) and mind that people in Mykonos wake up at 12 and later! So, the parties start after 16:00 for sure, slowly slowly. And, they take place usually in July-August. Do not wait for parties in May or October

  3. Santorini is very nice in September, although overcrowded.

We didn't like Santo. Felt like in one of the most crowded places of all. And you have to wait for a waiter and then for the bill for ages.

We were on a private tour, thanks God, and the guide took us to 2 family wineries. And then, as we were also asking for Santo, she took us there. And then we saw the difference, and were happy she saved us from this waste of time. Yet she said the quality of wine is not that good. And you can get their wines in all the shops in island.

And the cost of the wine tasting! We paid less in 2 private wineries from what we would have paid in Santo! So, our guide saved us twice :D

The conclusion is that even in Santorini, even in September you can find good places with no crowds. But these places are known to the locals, and you need a car to go there. Good bus services in the island but either you do not fit in the bus or you'll spend half of your day waiting for them here or there.

  4. I would not recommend doing this. Khios is a bit complicated island, not so touristic as others, therefore you may have trouble coming back to port in time.

Probably the best idea would be to visit one of the travel agencies located right on the shore line next to the port to see if someone of them can provide you with a car with a driver at least. Mesta is rather a long way from the port, if you try to go by bus you take the risk of not being back on time.

Or take a taxi (but I guess this will cost!) but before you let it go make sure you have one at the spot that will take you back.

You can also ask for taxi from one of the shops or taverns when you are already in Mesta, but when we were there almost everything was closed, although it was June. Who knows why... So, make sure you have a car or a car with the driver and leave the public transportation for more cosmopolitan places
