  1. Love the Silhouette, Celebrity, great food in the MDR and the buffet was constantly amazing, great salads, breads. Lawn Club was outstanding and the Porch was a great diversion for lunch.

Only been on Celebrity and NCL but will keep my pillow with Celebrity, more precisely, Silhouette. Taking her to Europe on another TA and there is plenty of time to enjoy all the offerings this great ship has to offer.

  2. Sailed on the Silly last April, transatlantic, enjoyed every minute of it. MDR food was good and on some nights great, but the Lawn Club Grille and the Porch were a level above. We are sailing again on the Silhouette, transatlantic, in Aqua Class, so Blu will be our MDR. Took the plunge on the recommendation of other Cruise Critic reviewers and are hoping for a new experience in dining.

Were on the Equinox in January and still believe the Silly is the ship of choice for us. Being new to the cruise family I know my opinion is taken with a grain of salt, but I will post again after the next voyage. Thanks to all of you alumni of X for your input and ideas for better cruising.

  3. Well said...But some people will always find something to complain about. I am thankful just to be able to cruise!
Thank You!!! I have just started to cruise and have found Celebrity to be great for my needs. Love the Silhouette and are taking her again on a transatlantic this April, can't wait!! Equinox was nice too but I am partial to the Silhouette. Maybe the person who posted needs a time out from cruising!?! Jaded? Hope I never get to that level of expectations. Enjoying the cruise.
  4. It always makes me sad when someone gets "depressed" because of things they read on a public message board. Your cruise is a long ways off and you should be looking forward to it instead of getting bummed. I've sailed Celebrity for years and if you go back and read my reviews, you'll see I'm always honest about the good and the bad of any cruise. We've had plenty of great cruises and others that have been less than stellar.

There is no question that many of the things described in this thread are true. Staff cutbacks and cost cutting have been seen in the cruise industry and Celebrity continuously now for some time. I've seen this across all mass-market lines (Celebrity, RCCL, Princess, HAL, Carnival). We can cruise Celebrity now for less than we did five years ago. Something has to give when the cost of cruising has been essentially the same (or less) for years.

We had a great cruise on Solstice last summer in Alaska and sail Silhouette in a couple of weeks. I know before I get onboard that the experience won't be the same as it was 10 - 15 years ago. But we still cruise to get away and relax. For the most part, we love Celebrity's crew.

Like so many things, it's about expectations. I'll write an honest review when we return. I can comfortably say that no matter what happens in the next two years before you sail, that Celebrity should still be a step up from Carnival. I hope you can start looking forward to your cruise again!

We did a TransAtlantic on the Silhouette in Aril 2017 and had a great experience, Equinox in January of 2018. Granted we are new cruisers but the value to us was stellar, Concierge and Aqua classes. Transatlantic coming up April on the 15th and it is again on the Silhouette and we are looking forward to another wonderful cruise, love the captain and the crew always seem to be in a great mood. Cabin attendant brought us extra pillows and blankets for the crossing and there was nothing we ask for that he did not do his best to deliver. I think fellow cruisers, who have cruised multiple times, might get a little jaded from previous experiences and I know they have seen better economic times but we think the value is outstanding. $300 dollars a day seems like a great deal for Aqua Class to Europe, food and lodging. Anyway, we are excited about more cruises with Celebrity and hope that we do not get to annoyed with the service or food. Thanks to all for the comments though.
  5. What are some examples of the desserts they have? Thanks

OMG Just off the Equinox and we always go to Cafe al Bacio for the lemon tartlets, they are awesome. We were on a transatlantic last year and had them for the first time! Still dream about the silky lemony filling and crunchy crust. Going transatlantic again this year and will be queuing up for these little gems.

  6. Booked first TA this past April, balcony, out of Ft. Lauderdale, and used the balcony everyday on the crossing. Coffee and bagel or toast, daily on balcony enjoying the ocean views. Very pleasant until we left Lisbon on way to France, a little chilly, we covered up and still enjoyed the balcony. Most nights the door was left open to able to hear the ocean as the ship cut through the water, what a sound! Have another TA next April on the Silhouette and will have a balcony again. Enjoy whatever the choice, Celebrity rocks!!!

  7. Had lunch in the MDR in April on the Silhouette, first transatlantic. It was great to be seated, select dining, at a table for two and just take in the first day on this beautiful ship. The lunch was very good and even though the choices were limited, it was much better than dragging our carry on around the ocean view buffet trying to find a seat and balancing a plate. Go for the lunch in the MDR, it's worth the little extra money concierge class cost. Doing it again, twice in the coming year! Enjoy!

  8. Reading all this biblical comparisons into what will be a new addition to the Celebrity family makes one wonder if they would want to travel with these judgmental cruisers. Really, sinful nights!? Where is your mind? Mine goes to the lavish dinners and the culinary delights these ships afford me, the service that caters to your every whim, all of which can make you feel "sinful" in your partaking of these luxuries. Lighten up, I'm 63 and will continue to be open minded to any of the latest innovations that make my ocean adventures more exciting and not the same as my day to day, landlubber existence. These cruises are escapes, and to think they are something else and should be a sign of us "slouching toward Bethlehem", is to strain a point. This is a cruise ship not the Ark.

  9. First time on TA cruise. Leaving Port Everglades 23rd April 2017, Celebrity Silhouette. Any and all recommendations for first timers would be appreciated. Wifi, dining, best shows, bars etc..... thanks in advance. Looking forward to the days at sea.
