  1. thanks for the reply, what about the specialty coffee and bottles of water?

Alcoholic drinks limit is 15. All other drinks are unlimited. Which makes the cheers worth the price. Vienna Cafe is on deck 5 by the casino. You can get milkshakes and coffee there along with all the other drinks that are included with cheers.

  2. From Carnival website:

Sail & Sign Account Opened with Cash or Traveler's Checks

    • Guests may activate their Sail & Sign account on Carnival.com, My Cruise Manager - Online Check-In or on the first day of the cruise at embarkation.
    • Guests must deposit cash (U.S currency only) or Traveler's Checks at Guest Services on the first day of the cruise. Please note that on the Carnival Vista sailing from Europe, Traveler's Checks are not acceptable as a form of deposit and cash deposit must be in U.S currency. The following minimum cash deposits are recommended:

      • 2 - 4 day cruise: $100 USD per person
      • 5 - 8 day cruise: $200 USD per person
      • 9 days or longer: $350 USD per person

Keep it mind it says "recommend" so that does not mean you have to.

  3. here's are 2 other questions - can you go up with 2 S&S cards and order 2 alcoholic drinks or do you have to be present with your card...

and if my husband and I both go to the bar will we each be able to order a drink using our respective cards?

kind of odd questions.. but I am still struggling with whether or not it's worth it to get cheers..

We had cheers but had no problem getting drinks for each other.

  4. Its not up to the bartender it if works or not. Either the card will let you or it won't. If it don't work and the bartender wants to give you both and wait to swipe your card again that's up to them. We would get an alcoholic drink and a water with no problem. We never tried any with sodas or other drinks with it. But we seen kids with bottomless beverage order a soda down it and had to wait 5 mins to get another soda. All you can do is try and see what they say and do. Everybody has different experiences with it. But it's just like any other sever/bartender take care of them they will take care of you.

  5. Hello fellow cruisers!

I am leaving this Saturday for a 6 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Magic. Excited is an understatement! I have been on one other cruise before, a 3 day bachelorette party to Nassau on the Carnival Victory, so I am familiar with the Sign & Sail Card. This time, though, I have a different plan than the credit card connection.

I plan to bring an envelope with all of our trip cash separated into sections and labeled. I budgeted $100/day for this trip for onboard expenses (mostly alcohol). My plan is to keep the envelope in the safe in the room and each morning put $100 onto my Sign & Sail card to use that day. That way, I don't put the whole $600 on there and end up not using it all and having to deal with a check they give you at the end.

My question is, is it possible to just put money on your card each morning as needed?

    Thanks!! :halo:

We are cash users also. When we did online check-in we set it up as cash accoumt. We plan an amount and took a Lil extra. Here is what we did. We pre-paid for cheers and gratuities less things to worry about at the end. We had $100 of OBC. When we got there to check in the lady asked if we wanted to put a card on the account and told her no. She told us there was OBC so we didn't have to put any on there but we put $200 on the account for my wife and I. So that we had some money on there if needed. We used cash for tipping for our drinks. "I never found a real answer on how the tip works when it's left on the receipt so we used cash for that person that severed us" we use the hub app to keep an eye on the account we bought stuff as we wanted to get things and did not need to add any extra till the last night because we bought pictures and a few items. And when we added money we added just the amount needed at one of the kiosk because it was the last night. When we left there was a few dollars left which got donated to st Jude fund. So I agree with your idea on using cash.

I see where people come from on trying to get points on their credit cards and it works great for them but others not so great. So to each their own on how they choose to pay for things. Just don't judge how others plan to pay for things. But cash is always there.

  6. The only thing I seen that a PVP can do different then booking online is find rooms you like or prefer. I'm sure if you called and talked to them they might be able to work something out for the deposit. Never know till you try. But I needed 2 rooms one for my wife and I and one for our 3 girls. Because we did not want all 5 of us in one room. And that means no privacy for anybody so that would mean 1 bathroom to share and have to change 1 at a time or I get changed and leave the room so they could get ready. So we had 2 choices

First choice ocean view for us and them in an interior which had to be across the hall because of our youngest.

Second choice was 2 ocean view rooms with or without connecting doors.

I could not find either choice online so I contacted the same PVP I used before and he found rooms that didn't even show available not matter how many ways I looked them up. And we got 2 ocean view rooms with connecting doors. Which double our room space.

From my understanding if you use a TA you have to go thru everything with them. I'm not 100% sure on that. But if so I have no control of my booking which I don't like. And read most TA give out perks that you would not get otherwise.

  7. I just went on my first cruise with my wife few weeks ago on Triumph. I read reviews after we booked it and have seen so many complaints about Carnival but in the end I'm on vacation to enjoy it not pick put every detail and see how much I can complain.

These are the main complaints I've read here and other placing. Maybe somebody can help me understand.

What I don't understand is why remove gratuities. Me personally they should be added and not allowed to be taken off. If there is a problem go speak with somebody. Problems can't get fixed if you don't speak up. We tipped each person extra that got us drinks servers in the MDR. We went to have dinner formal night and neither of us felt good we ordered our food already. And decided to go back to our room we asked if he could have the food brought to our room. He said it would be later before he could do it i said that was fine. 30 mins later he personally delivered it to us.

Who needs their room cleaned twice a day. Are you that lazy to keep it cleaned up after yourself / family. Our room steward asked us how often he needed to check our room daily. I told him in the mornings and let him know I had a cooler he kept the cooler full of ice. Which means he took the time and pulled the stuff out emptied the cooler put stuff back in it and filled it with ice. I never seen melted ice in the cooler no matter when we looked in it.

Table cloths who cares. Are you that dirty you need a table cloth. I would rather have a table without a table cloth because you know it's clean.

Food complaints there is enough options take your pick if you don't like it find something else. It all free your not paying per meal. You paying to enjoy the ship and the things that are included.

Seen people complain about kids. If you dont want to be around kids then book a vacation that is for adults onky. Yea it was hard to find pools and hot tubs without kids. But the cruise I was on and seen adults and kids in the pool and all of them having fun.

We have low standards I guess because we booked the same ship July 2018 and taking our girls with us.

As I said before EVERY VACATION IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. If there is a major problem then that's one thing. But 90% of the issues I seen talked about are opinions which everybody is entitled to voice. There are many different cruise lines to just from just like any other kind of vacation. Pick it if you don't like it find another. But if you look that much into every vacation everybody does there will be just as many complaints as any other.

  8. 90% of the stuff I've read about people asking about cheers they only care and count for the alcoholic drinks. We looked at the complete package and we like the idea of being able to get any drink we wanted without having a bill for drinks at the end of the cruise. Yes we did tip for our drinks. But we got most of our drinks from red frog rum bar and had great service. We had to wait at other bars. So we stuck with the bar that took care of us and we took care of them.

  9. that's only for a passport. I'm taking my kids in July without passports. That's the whole reason why we are cruisin. I just told them them they are not allowed to break a leg.😃

I was meaning for a short form to be the same as a long form. It has to have the "I" beside the date

  10. A copy can be used as long as they can see the seal.

Birth certificate must have the "I" next to the date it was filed like this one in the picture and will be the same as a long form. When we went to get our passport my wife had a long form and I had a short form. They told me if I didn't have "I" then I would not have been able to get my passport

  11. I was on the triumph a few weeks ago and You can get a bottle of water at the same time you order an alcoholic beverage. But you can not get 2 non-alcoholic or 2 alcoholic at the same time but can get one of each. My wife and I did it when we would get drinks so we could stock up on water for port day.

When I was getting a beer it was a 16oz aluminum can with a twist top. And they did not open it from any bar.

We averaged 7-12 alcoholic drinks a day each. Plus the coffee milkshake and waters. Cheers was $460 including gratuities. Had it not been for cheers is would have cost us $600 for all the drink we got.

  12. Whoa, that happened to us too. FTTF is worth it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

We got FTTF and will continue to get it when we can because its a 7 hr drive to the port we choose so we stay the night in a hotel before we board so we are ready to get on the ship and enjoy it. And want to get off ASAP so we can get on the road for the 7 hr drive back home.

The guest service like is not a big deal. Unless there is a real problem like needing a key or have a issue. As far as the bill or any other BS it can wait till there is not a line.

  13. lol, between that and if we need something and go to the diamond plat station and some guy saying "hey buddy the line is over here".

I had FTTF and was only person in the priority line and people in the regular line was telling me I need to get to the back of the line cause they was their first. I pointed up at the sign and they got mad. Specially when the lady finished with the guest she was help and moved over and helped me with what I needed.

  14. I been twice because we could figure out how we had another credit on our account and to add money because the kiosk was out of order.

I get FTTF for being able to board sooner because we stay in the hotel the night before and so we can get off sooner and get on the road because we have a 7 hr drive home.

  15. Only you know how much you drink.

There are many of ways to see which is worth it for you.

Me and my wife have been on one cruise and we had cheers. We will get cheers on our future cruises.

1- We don't have to worry about how much we spend.

2- most days we did drink 7-12 alcoholic drinks each

3- bottles of water are $1.25 coffee is about $5 the free coffee was not to our liking so we went to the specialty coffee bar any time we wanted coffee.

On our last night we got a print out and did price comparison on everything that cheers covered.

$460 Cheers for 2 of us

    $580 without cheers

Most only think about the alcoholic drinks but it includes this

Sodas, Zero-Proof frozen cocktails, energy drinks, specialty coffee, hot tea, bottled water and other non-alcoholic bottled beverages, milkshakes

  16. The earlier you get to port the sooner the bags will be at the room. We had FTTF so we got our bags when we boarded and our room was ready. But there was also a lot of other bags that was by the doors also. So maybe the sooner you get to port the sooner you get them. Also we left out of New Orleans and the waiting area didn't have much room so I'm glad we have them to the porters to deal with and once we started walking the gangway to board people was everywhere.

  17. I was on the Triumph last weekend. And there was kids in all the pools and hot tubes. There was less kids in the pool on deck 9 aft. We really didn't see many that was being bad. But you will always have that issue. But kids was all over including in the casino area because they had bands in there playing and the kids was with their parents. I was pleased with how it went. Just look at the fun times and plan where you wanna be. Based on when you go will be based on how many kids are there. As others has said you set the mood and how much fun you make of it. Can't let others ruin your vacation.

  18. This issue isn't new to the new website format. We booked our next cruise back in Feb. before the new site format was released. While we were on the phone with the Carnival rep., I was going through a mock booking online at the same time. We needed three cabins, one of which has teenagers and has to be within the required distance from an adult cabin. Anytime I tried to book all three (or even just two) at once, I never saw any cabins that fit our needs. But the rep. was listing off ones that did. I told her I couldn't see the available cabins that she could and she told me to try to go back through the booking with only a single cabin. I did that and could then see what she was seeing. She didn't know why it did that. So it was happening with the old website too. I don't know if it's a glitch or intentional.

Because the system don't show you what you need even when I was trying to book 2 rooms it never showed the 2 room that the PVP found when I talked to him. It only shows you a couple of rooms to make it look like there isn't many available so you will book it. In their system it's going to show everything.

  19. .....give it to a professional to do and tell them what you want.

You are correct specially if you want rooms that are close to each other they can find them faster. And it don't cost you anything for them to set it up and do the booking. We had to call them because we wanted 2 room side by side or across from each other. And I couldn't find either. I called the same person that did my last reservation and told him what I wanted and he found it and booked it for me.

  20. lennythenose: yes, you are correct. Carnival in their new website in no way allows the guest to book 2 or more rooms at the same time where you can choose the locations and rooms for yourself. Carnival, it appears, has their computer only show you 4 options which they tell you what is best for you. (not!) There is no way to book the rooms you want on the floors you want now when booking 2 or more rooms at the same time without having to call Carnival. ( Or book each room individually and hope that the 2nd, 3rd... rooms are still available when you get to it) If someone has found a workaround, I'm all ears...

I was able to select 2 rooms and then Select the guest per room and get to the spot of the pictures I posted above. DO NOT CLICK ON BOOK NOW. Select the blue box with the room selection and the price. It will take you to the next page to select the state then the next page will give you the option to choose the amount of rooms needed. The next window you will select the number of guest per room. Then just follow the steps in which package you would like to use then choose room location and then when it shows the room number you can see more rooms and room location. Once you select the room location for the first room you will proceed to the choosing room type for the second room and then go thru the same steps to select room location.
