Just taking you up on the estimated waiting time MB, the app does give an idea by quoting the number of passengers currently in the virtual queue, which would be a far better indicator, if in fact everyone used the app.

However because there are so many passengers unwilling to use the app, and probably many more who prefer to just walk up and chance it, no computer system could be designed to cater for those variables.

As for first night queues, other than the fact that it is the first night, and even experienced cruisers don't know what to expect, I really don't know. However I do think that even the first night would run much smoother if everyone used the virtual queue.

There may well be people unwilling to use the app but there are also a lot of people who do not have smart phones, so therefore unable to join a virtual queue. I have had enough of computers and apps, I want to relax on holiday and chose how I want to do things. We are all different and have to accept that what suits one is not going to suit another.

  2. CDC have reported that so far in 2024 there have been outbreaks on Princess, Royal Caribbean, Silversea Cruises, Holland America Line, Cunard, Celebrity.

The UK Health Agency has also reported that recorded cases for this time of year are at the highest level in five years, particularly in health and social care settings.

It doesn't matter where we go or what we do, there is always a risk. As long as we take every precaution we can there is not much else we can do.

The P&O cruise line is largely for a British market, so why does Carnival believe we should be poorly treated in respect of embarkation and disembarkation?  Staying in one’s cabin is a real bonus on Cunard and if you don’t like your disembarkation timeslot you only have to call the front desk and it is adjusted.

It all comes down to whether or not a product or service meets our expectations, if it doesn't meet mine I will take my buisness elsewhere. At the moment I am happy to accept what P&O offer.

Brits like queues, so the situation you describe would never occur 😉. P&O make a complete and unnecessary meal out of disembarkation. They should adopt the hassle free disembarkation process adopted by some other cruise lines, such as sister brand Cunard. Until then…..

Whilst I agree that the P&O system is far from perfect, until it is changed that is the system which we should all comply with. The fact some Brits love to queue is irrelevant, as Palaceman said if we all adopted the 'I will ignore the procedure' attitude it really would be chaos.

Good morning everyone.  I hope we all have a good day - and I was wondering where everyone was too.

It is funny how the smallest thing can cheer you up.  My supermarket order this morning has one substitute, a much more expensive Greek yogurt which I have looked at but never ordered.  For the price of the cheaper one, of course.  And it gets great reviews.  I just think 'how kind of the packers to send  me this one', though my cynical son says they don't choose, just get an online  message.  Ah well.  I sometimes think of them all, going round the shop (mine do come from the actual shop) at 2 or 3 in the morning and wish them well.  Tiny pleasures.

I wish they did go around at 2 or 3 in the morning I could then be left in peace to do my shopping. I went to my local supermarket yesterday and frustratingly was in a constant battle, as always, to avoid those large click and collect trollies being operated by staff who need lessons in manners, they blocked aisles, reach across you and come around corners far to quickly, it will only be a matter of time before someone is sent flying. There were more of these than there were people doing their shopping and this was at 10.30 in the morning.

I agree with your wish for her to be left alone. I am completely indifferent to the whole family. I don’t wish them any harm of course but I have no interest in reading about them or seeing regular pictures of them.
Don’t forget, it is they who took, manipulated and released the picture. Nobody forced them to do so.

I also agree they should be left alone and the only reason they released a photo was due to constant pressure from the press and social media. If they had been left alone to allow The Princess of Wales to recuperate, ready to resume Royal duties after Easter as was announced there would have been no need for them to issue a photo.

  7. We have just been advised that the itinerary on our October cruise has changed. We are no longer going to Mykonos but will be visiting Souda Bay, Crete, instead. We are planning on doing our own thing. Can anyone advise on the best way to get to Chania from Souda Bay. Thank you.
