  1. We purchased the wine pkg on our Breeze cruise in 2017.  We called in and purchased prior to sailing, but IIRC, someone was selling the package on the Lido deck on embarkation day.

They give you coupons to redeem for your bottles based on which package you purchase.  You can redeem these from any bar, the steakhouse, or the MDR.

If you don't finish, you can cork it and take it back to cabin or the MDR will store it for you until your next meal.

  2. Straight from Carnival's site:

    https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1106/~/cheers%21-beverage-program

    • Program allows for unlimited Zero-Proof beverages but only one beverage at a time may be ordered - sharing is not permitted.

Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6:00am-6:00am); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served ANY additional alcoholic drinks

How does it work if I both the DW and I have Cheers and want to go to coffee bar in the morning to get both of us a coffee, could I just show both S&S cards, or would she be required to be present at the time?

  3. Ok thank you - was trying to avoid 2 carry ons lol Appreciate your time:D

In August on the Breeze, we put 2 bottles of wine and 2 12pks of soda in one rolling duffel. No issues, I don't even recall them opening and inspecting the bottles/cans while going through security. YMMV

  4. We got this same email notification on the Breeze back in August. We had the 10:30-11:00 check in time and FTTF. I did delay arriving about 30 minutes later than I originally planned, good thing I didn't wait the full hour, as soon as we got through the ID check, they were calling the FTTF's to board. We literally only spent about 5 minutes in the terminal, that was awesome! I heard someone mention that the reason they ask people to delay by 1hr is because they want to give themselves a little extra time if necessary for customs to clear the ship after the previous cruise. Something about the cruises that visit Belize and smuggling pot on board. Don't know if this is true, but our parking shuttle driver did mention something about a guy who pulled a stunt like that a couple of years ago and customs had to search the ship room by room.

  5. True.

They will know about it in galveston.

And no, it doesn't have to be in your carry on, it just had to be carried on. A plastic bag will work, or even the bottle in your hand.

Please don't drop it and break it though, it slows down everyone else checking in.

We sailed out of Galveston in August. Packed 2 12pks of soda and a bottle of wine and champagne in a separate carry on. Bag was never opened and nothing was said. Must have gotten lucky.

  6. Also just remembered, she told us that will still needed to stop by GS once on the ship because of this. We only did this because it had been so long since last cruise and we could use the FTTF line there. Of course GS told us immediately, that we were good to go. Sounds like their terminal agents need some additional training! ;p

  7. Since one of the reasons for this new way is to expedite check in, then the second line should be eliminated just like at the other ports. Hopefully someone who has cruised from here can give confirmation.

I believe you are correct. However, they asked us to stop by the 2nd desk because we set up our S&S account as cash. At the time I felt this was unnecessary as I had purchased some cruise cash ahead of time to fund the account. The person at that desk had a hard time understanding that I already had credit to fund the account. Finally, I convinced her that I didn't need to add cash and she moved us on.

  8. Thanks for the info on the Breeze. I sailed in May and they were still doing things the old way. I am taking a group of mostly new cruisers in March and wondered if you can tell me how the check in process has changed as a result of this ? I would like to update my explanation of the check in process at Galveston for my little group. Thanks again!

I cannot speak much to what has changed beside the card being in the mailbox since this was our first cruise in 10 years. We had FTTF and in a suite, so check in was very quick and easy for us. We had selected one of the earliest check in times, but Carnival sent an email to us the day before departure asking us to wait an additional hour before we showed up at the terminal, which we did. There was no wait in the priority check in line, but the regular check in line was well out the door of the terminal. Once inside, we were directed to check in desk and then straight on board. Whole process took maybe 15 minutes. We were thankful to have priority, as it was extremely hot that day in Galveston.
