Just ask for what you want. I was just on the Zuiderdam for 2 weeks my mom asked for mashed potatoes almost every night. I didn't eat anything pureed Usually a baked potato . I asked for green beans a few times and they even got a donut from the Lido one morning (I'm a dining room diner) One tip I have is to tell them exactly what you want If you tell the staff what you don't want they will choose substitutions they think are appropriate. Menus have been slimmed down but the staff want you to be happy May 4 cruise had less than 500 passengers and extra kitchen staff that were moving to Zaandam

I just got off 2 weeks on the Zuiderdam in Alaska. Should I expect the same menu on Holland America in Canada/New England in June?

Do I have to have internet plan on board ship to enter info for ArriveCAN. ? Am doing a b2b and not planning to disembark in Vancouver til the end. I guess with the 72 hrs I could fill out using WiFi in Ketchikan?

Question about ArriveCan submission. I understand I have to do this before I fly to Canada. If I’m on a b2b I think I have to do it when the ship returns to Vancouver the 1st and 2nd times. Is this right? If I don’t buy an internet plan would I get off the ship at the last port before Vancouver and use WiFi ? Have smartphone Thanks for temp info.

Getting on the Zuiderdam on May 4 for a couple of weeks. I have never been to Alaska and am curious about the temperature on the inside of the ship. I have cruised for 3 decades and just never could cruise in the right season. I know a lot of the older passengers find the ships chilly. My mom (90) always wears a jacket or sweater especially in the dining room. I’m always in shorts or dress. I understand the deck will be cold but how is the interior. Really enjoying your report Thanks

My boarding pass shows 2 gala nights as well but on the app it shows only smart casual nights My question was not about how to dress. I guess i didn’t ask the question very well. I do like to dress up and eat with a tablecloth! That’s what is great about HAL. You can do what you feel like. As the formality diminishes in the non-luxury lines I hope we can keep at least 1 gala night. Hopefully the app is wrong. Boarding passes get updated 14 days out and I’m 17 away so fingers crossed

I’m a first time Alaska cruiser. Many southern cruises on many lines. My May HAL cruise has listed SMART CASUAL as the dress for all nights in my itinerary. Just wondering if I should believe this ????

was on Zaandam June 15 Headed straight for dining room after visiting cabin I had checked the program to make sure I was in the appropriate times I was met 20 ft from host post and turned away was told there was no lunch go to lido I pointed to time on program and host said oh you are Mariner I said yes Got seated about 10 in dining room one more example of HAL not wanting us in dining room Keep us at Lido for herd feeding Until this year I was always greeted pleasantly by host 4 cruises this year and it always seems to be a big imposition I travel with my mom or girlfriend and am willing to share . I usually bring a small token as a gift either with a holiday theme or texas flavor I am patient, never greedy for a window but hosts act like it is such a hard chore to find a table Witnessed gentleman who caused the host to raise his voice because he had dared to ask how long the wait was expected to be for a table for 2 After he was seated host told those of us waiting to share how difficult this couple was every day and how they always came at busy times so classy If that dining room is open I'm going

Was on Zaandam June 15 Great trip Ship was fine for small ship Tv was tiny and our cabin was under kitchen but noise was slight. ports are amazing Did Fun with Falcons in PEI and it lived up to reviews Fantastic Halifax boardwalk was so pretty and their Maritime Museum was great. Taxis are scarce in QC and Bar Harbor but you don't really need them I was travelling with my 87 year old mom so needed them Did a Viatour tour of Chateaux Frontenac in QC and it was so great We stayed at Hotel Chrome in Montreal cuz I like to walk in the old city before getting on ship $40 cab to city from airport taxi to port $15can Port is small so embarkation is quick I hope to do this trip again next year

************* has great Mariner Specials online for the Fall. These deals can be seen once you search out each cruise but at $219 for an outside its worth the effort Look for Nov and Dec Panama and Cari...... The deal pops up when you look at each cruise not on the long list These are the same deals I got an email from HAL for in Feb and Aug Hope someone can take advantage

Vegetarian menu on Holland America
in Holland America Line
Posted
Can anyone tell me if Holland America still has a separate vegetarian/ vegan menu . I know the MDR has choices on the menu but I haven’t inquired this year and there were a couple of items I enjoyed on the separate menu. Thank you
