We sailed the Zaandam last June in Alaska and everything was quite perfect. My husband has Celiac disease and had no problems and we never sat at the same table. He was given a dinner menu each night for the next night and selected which items he wanted. It was an amazing adventure!

We did have a reservation waiting in our room upon arrival. We went and changed it to a time and day that worked for us. We were asked if we would like to sit with others when we went for dinner. We were paired with two older ladies that have traveled the world. It was a remarkable dinner, loved our conversation with them. They had so many stories and we truly enjoyed them. Don't rule out eating with others, absolutely loved it!

The booth to buy the tram tickets is so close to the dock I would not worry about getting these ahead of time. We exited the ship and bought our tickets and headed up the tram.

We took the train from Denali to Anchorage. The seats were like a plane or bus, 2 seats on either side of the aisle, but very roomy and comfy. The dining car below had seating for either 2 or 4 per table.

You will be told what time to have your luggage outside of your hotel door each time you are changing locations. When you arrive at your next hotel, it will be inside your hotel room.

We did HAL land tour. It was wonderful to have the tour hosts on the bus, train, etc explaining what you are seeing and the history of the area. We loved not having to worry about any of the details and just being able to enjoy the beauty. We took an extra day in Fairbanks and used the bus, which worked out wonderfully.

We did the Alaska cruise last June. We had an oceanview cabin. The bow was never overly crowded. We had a beautiful day at Glacier Bay and was wonderful to move about the ship to take it all in. We walked a lot on the promenade deck throughout our cruise taking in the views. We never once said "oh, I wish we had a balcony".

We did the Kenai boat trip prior to boarding the ship. It was a 6 hour trip and lunch was included. We saw so much wildlife and the boat was able to get quite close to land and a glacier, which was calving. We then were taken to the ship a little after 2 and went very quickly through the check in process with no waiting.

We sat on the left facing forward and I think we saw a lot more in my opinion.

Crab cakes in the Pinnacle are amazing.

Totally agree with you. My daughter stated "Mom, some people just like to complain"!

We stayed in the Captain Cook last June.

There is a self serve laundry on deck 3.

We went in June of this past year and had great weather. We actually wore shorts in Ketchikan. Because of the amount of daylight in June, the sunsets we beyond amazing.

We had an oceanview and enjoyed that. We spent a lot of time walking the promenade deck. The weather in Alaska is unpredictable. We went in June and had good weather, but realize we were very lucky.

We walked the Lower Prom a lot. There were people with their lights on in the evening and curtains open and one could easily see into the rooms, in particular one man reading in bed. We were in an Ocean view on the Main Deck and loved it, up one flight of stairs and outside.

We have a family member do it for us.

We used the self service laundry in June, worked out great.

We were onboard in June and the temps were comfortable.

We had dinner one evening at the Pinnacle with two much older ladies, one turning 90 soon. Best dinner ever! They had traveled the world and their stories were amazing. When they came toddling over to our table my husband and I looked at each other, but don't judge a book by its cover.

I had the crab cakes recently and they were divine!

My husband stated he did not preorder for the Pinnacle. He was told they could make most things gluten free (not the desserts though).
-
We were on the Zaandam June 18-25. They showed Split, Hidden Figures, Founder, Disney movie Bears, and two Inside the earth documentaries.

My husband is gluten free and as mentioned previously he received the next evening's menu at dinner and had to return it the next day by 9:00 am with his selection. We ate all breakfasts in the MDR and he ate omeletes, fruit, yogurt and was provided with GF toast and muffins. We ate lunch in the Lido and he selected salads, veggies, sushi, carved meats and also ate at the taco bar at the Dive In. He had no problems.

We came in a day early. We took a city bus out to the museum at the University. We loved the museum. We also walked to the Visitor's Center and explored Fairbanks.
