  1. Thank you :) I realize at the beginning I asked a few dumb questions - Which the answers were clearly noted on the Freestyle Daily :( - that I did not read thoroughly and there was no absolute answer to them anyway. However, with all of these seasoned cruisers I thought maybe with their experience they might have an idea. I was clearly wrong and I learned that lesson the hard way! So I just stopped asking questions; and wouldn't you know, everything I was going to ask Coffee Goddess or the other 2 - they inevitably got around to posting, I just needed to wait.

BUT - the loungers, due to the over posting on them from OTHERS, I just needed to know what is the most appropriate way to sit on these lovely pieces of furniture with out my feet upon them; AND I GOT RIDICULED FOR asking a question. But Coffee Goddess got around to sitting on them and giving her experience with them, which I greatly appreciate :) I SURE HOPE THEIR LAST FEW DAYS ARE HEAVEN. It sure has been a nice ride for me. Thank You!

Don't let people discourage you from posting here. People are generally nice and answer questions without the ridicule. Most questions get asked 10 times and no one gets mad. I don't read the freestyle dailies on here because it won't have a bearing on my cruise next March. The lounge thing got out of hand. I know when I go on the Bliss next year, I'm going to be using those at least once and will probably have something under my feet since I do plan on using it for what it was designed for: lounging.

  2. We’ve done 5 NCL cruises and wear casual shorts at all the specialties (except La Bistro, which is why we do it on the first night of every cruise) Maybe been lucky.

Bliss will be my third and all I've ever seen is nice. Not fancy but dress casual I guess. For me, when I think speciality, I think dress nice. Never seen them turn anyone one for wearing anything else

  3. La Bistro has a dress code of pants & close toed shoes (except the first night of every cruise). I recall hearing that NCL’s main dining halls had a no swimwear policy, but we don’t typically utilize it, so perhaps other could offer input

The MDRs are casual dress. Cagneys, Le Bistro and I believe La Cucina are nice dress(pants, dress shirt for men, skirt, dress, nice pants and top for women) Teppanyaki is casual I believe. No swimsuits in any restaurant but you can wear it in the buffet as long as it is covered up and dry

On a side note Coffee Goddess -

I am very grateful for the 3 of you who have taken us on your trip (I am new to cruising) and for you to post ALL of this info on your Vacation says a lot for you and this CC community. I'm not sure that I would be as diligent as you all are with your post! Not to mention the patience. I hope you have had a great trip/vacation and I hope your pain has subsided a bit! I'm done posting as I'm too sensitive, but I will follow along till the end. Thank you again!

I'm sorry for the mean people. Most people on here are generally nice

  5. Actually the issue here wasn't using the towels. The real issue was these people put towels and other things on the chair and left the OL for almost an hour and a half. This prevented others from using the furniture while they were gone. Thus the name Lounge Hogs and is a very rude to do to other guests. Using a towel under your feet should be fine. :)
A clean dry towel, not a damp/wet towel. I wouldn't want to sit in one of those loungers and get wet

  6. And because you are a computer programmer that makes you Emily Post?

What IS rude is hijacking our lovely Coffeegoddess thread with your basic lack of online courtesy and continued defensive argument.

Back to the fun stuff! What are we drinking tonight, Coffeegoddess?

I agree. If they want to argue about it, then start a new thread. I for one, am a little annoyed at the constant notifications from one of them. I'm not following this thread to watch people occur over what is and isn't common courtesy. Most people don't know what that is anymore anyway

  7. maybe I'm a little too East Coast for cruising, but my first inclination upon learning about this 'leave a towel on it and its yours forever' phenomenon poolside and in lounges is to scoop up said towel/belongings, nicely place it on the floor next to the seat, and take the seat for myself. If someone complained to me about it I would argue that seats are for sitting, not storing belongings, you can tell by the name.

would I get in trouble for this sort of situation-handling on a cruise?

I would do exactly the same thing. Except I would give the belongings to a crew member or have a crew member remove them. Really hopping this issue is fixed by the time we board next March

  8. Regarding the haven deck space, I think NCL has done a great disservice to the non haven guests. How many of us like to go to the top level and look out over the Bow and feel the wind. Looks to me like this option is no longer available unless you are a haven guest. That’s the only thing that I have noticed so far that they did wrong.

Agreed. We usually go up front and watch while we're pulling in to port. We weren't too happy about the ENTIRE front of the Bliss being for haven only

  9. I'm glad to see the wine list! My husband and I were trying to figure out why we didn't go to the wine bar more on our Escape cruise, and we thought it was because the wine prices were over the drink amount with the UBP. In looking at this that doesn't seem to be the case, there are still quite a few under the amount. Guess we'll have to hit it up more when we're on the Bliss in the fall!
Just in case you didn't know, if something is over the $15 max for UBP, you only pay the difference. So I saw several glasses that were $17.50 and with UBP you'd only pay the $2.50. A lot of people don't know that

  10. Spice has shrunk considerably on the Bliss. It almost feels forgotten or incomplete, so it’ll be interesting to see what the space becomes. It appears most deck parties have been moved to the vast new pool deck area.

Maybe the'll add a putt put golf course and basketball court?

I hope not. Spice should stay adult only.

We did! It’s in the thread somewhere. It wasn’t as “perfect” as our experience was on the Dawn, but still a great dining experience. Q was a miss for us (food-wise), but I suspect it’ll improve as they work out the kinks on a brand-new concept for them.

That's disappointing. It was our favorite area on the Getaway and Escape.

  12. Well then... we got that right with our cabin, mid ship, deck 11. Good to know and thanks Doug.
Our cabin is 12180 on 3/2/19. First time with an extended balcony. We're right off the forward elevators and only a few floors below the OL. Only thing is, we spend much of our time in Spice which is the opposite end of the ship. Oh well, walking never killed anyone.

Thank you for the live review. It's making the wait just a little more bearable. Any plans on trying Los Lobos? We have the 3 night UDP and we're trying to decide between the Q or Los Lobos

  13. Staff changes take place all the time including tomorrow. Much too soon to know who will be on this far out.
No I know I was just wondering because he mentioned that he'd heard Rowan would be on the Bliss and he was our waiter in Teppanyaki on the Escape last year. It'd be nice to see him on the Bliss. So I was curious if there was a website where you can find out who's on what ship

  14. In June of 2016, there was a price increase that put Patron over the 15.00 limit of the UBP. I know because of postings on CC and my first hand experience on the Escape in July of 2016 and again in January of 2017.

I prefer to use Don Julio Reposado, but of course that is way over the 15.00 limit. Will look forward to many made with that on board the Carnival Horizon next year, especially at the Alchemy Bar, since the limit on Cheers is 50.00.

  15. Gotta get a Toro Toro... favorite drink on board. Made with Patron and for some reason still covered under UBP, even though Patron isn't at other bars. 🤔

Patron was covered everywhere when we went on the Getaway 2 years ago. Going on the Escape in September so I'm hoping it's still covered because Patron makes the best margaritas

  16. No, there is no "Ultimate Drink Package".

3UDP is actually the 3SDP (Specialty Dining Package) but NCL still uses the letters UDP which was the Ultimate Dining Package which is no longer offered (hasn't been offered for over a year).

The daughter has the UBPCC (Corks and Caps Wine and Beer Package) which is $59 per person per day (if purchased) plus 18%. The promo covers the $59 per day and the guest pays the 18% ($59 x 7 x .18) which is $74.34.

My husband and I have the UBP: ultimate beverage package and have it every time we go on NCL

  17. My husband and I sailed on the Getaway two years ago and will be sailing on the Escape in 59 days for our wedding anniversary. I loved how laid back NCL is. We had no bad experiences at all and had a fantastic vacation. We expect more of the same on the Escape. I'm very confused about the tattoo thing. I have one in memory of my brother. My husband has one commemorating his service in the US Navy. It bothers you so much then don't pay attention.
