  1. A quick question before this gets cast to the archives, if I may..

How did you find transport from port to Rum Point? I've read that island marketing can organise this for 5USD but also that a taxi to do the same journey would be over 50USD? There's only 2 of us so we don't have safety in numbers with this one

  2. MY opinion..... Boss scooters are stupid. Just my opinion. They make a buzzing noise underwater and the fish go away. If you are looking to see fish, do a snorkeling tour.

Thanks Robin, I hadn't thought of that.

In that case, maybe the helmet diving suggested by Brad in OP would be a better idea. I have found info about Sea Trek helmet diving and snuba at Tabyana beach on tripadvisor...

  3. On my first ever cruise (Carnival Glory, June 2018) I'll be stopping in Roatan.

What shouldn't I miss? The plan at the moment is to do a BOSS scooter excursion through CCL as it doesn't seem to be available privately, then just explore the island at our leisure for a couple of hours.

Is this a good way to spend time? What could I do for the remaining time?

  4. I've just gone through a similar thought process when researching BOSS scooters!

It seems that we (as cruise passengers) are not allowed to book directly with the supplier - this could be due to a contractual agreement between them and CCL. I was doing some research into Grand Cayman and found a supplier of a dolphin encounter openly said on their website they're not allowed to sell to any cruise passengers of CCL due to their contract - it must be that CCL want to offer the excursion for 20USD more for exactly the same thing.

Unfortunately, it looks like they are the only supplier of BOSS scooters available so I'm thinking of paying carnival prices.

  5. Hi All,

As the title suggests I'm a total newbie to cruising - I have my first cruise booked for June 2018 (a bit far in advance, I know), and I really cannot wait! It's a 7 night Western Caribbean on the Carnival Glory.

My question however, is in this massive world of cruising where there seems to be SO many things to consider - where do I start with all things cruising? (any advise to get me going with preparation/ excursions/ things to pack/ cruisecritic forums would be great - just a few pointers so I know what kind of questions to be asking)

Thanks a lot in advance - I'm really excited to start learning about cruising from people who know it best!
