  1. The closest outlet mall area to boston is in wrentham: http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/wrentham-village. I think it's right around an hour away, so you could stay a little closer to boston after shopping? In general, staying out the mass pike/rt 90 is a good place to access the cruise port, in the framingham area, and then you're halfway to boston from the outlets. I'm certain framingham has one of most every chain hotel.

  2. Everyone can bring a case of water or soda, so if you are driving, do that. The CCL price on having water delivered to your room isn't bad either, and it will be waiting for you when you check in. We were flying so did that. You can also bring one bottle of wine per adult, so two bottles for 4 days for my husband and I was more than enough.

I've heard the kids clubs were great, but my kids and I were just together the whole time. There are pools and stuff all over and it's just super fun exploring every square inch of the ship.

EDIT: Shoot I'm a liar! I forgot the water can't be in bottles. I think it's $4.50 for a case to your room though. If you really want to bring water, I think you can do it in cans.

  3. I cruised with my 3 kids this past fall, when they were 7, 11, and 14. We spent nearly every moment together, both on and off the ship. We visited the kids clubs the first day but never used them. We had a great time and if they had wanted the kids club it would have been fine but that's just how our family operates. You do you.

  4. I have a 15 year old who takes as long as he can possibly get and then ten minutes more. Then he smells like axe. If he needs to shower (like after a day in port), 40 minutes is a safe bet.

The other ones I can shake into some clean clothes and hose down in about 20 minutes. The youngest has so little body fat that he wants to get dressed right away, for warmth if nothing else.

  5. I'd leave at 8:30, and get there around 10-10:30. If you leave after about 6:30 it's a mess. Even with "tons of traffic", two hours will be plenty of time. And as stated above, if you arrive later you can still get on and it's pretty easy.

  6. I was there in the fall and there were no restrictions on where we could go. Possibly if we tried to go into any embassies or governmental buildings, but we even walked right into a ration station.

  7. I have searched this forum to no avail, but I'm hoping someone can help me. Are there any brick-and-mortar stores that sell NCL gift cards? I just had a brainstorm re: mothers' day but it's only a few days away. I do have a costco membership if that's your answer.

    Thanks!

  8. I booked a private old car tour online, through http://oldcartours.com/

It was great, we only booked for two hours, but they took us for 3+. They worked with myself and my family to get a great tour for us. Because there were five of us, we couldn't hire an english speaking guide and have a spot for them too, but turns out our guide spoke english quite well, and is italian (which we know) so it was fine. They were really great, I'm sure if you told them exactly what you told me, they would help you come up with an itinerary.

It's really a very easy city to get around, either on foot, or pedicab, or just regular taxi. I only scheduled that one tour and the rest of the time we just explored, and it was great.
