  1. How was the entertainment as far as; Piano Bar, I'm sure they had an Acoustic guitar player, or how about bands playing around the ship? Was there Karaoke every night?

We were on the Splendor from August 25 through September 8, 2018. Karaoke was very plentiful on this ship. It was every night except one from 7:30 to 10:00. My husband signs and loved it.

  2. We shared a cab ride to the rental car to beat the crowd of people getting on the shuttle. Drove to Spouting Horn, Po’ipu Beach where a monk seal and a large sea turtle came out to sun themselves, purchased some items at a large flea market and had a lovely lunch at Keoki’s Paradise. Purchased gas at Costco before returning the car and taking the shuttle back to the ship.

  3. 2 days; tender port; first day Kona Street Festival; 2nd day, we took a beach shuttle to Kahalu’u Beach. We had our own snorkel gear since we had planned to snorkel at the tender dock. At the Beach Shack we paid $10.00 per person for the transportation to Kahulu’u Beach (they refer to it as turtle beach). They also rented equipment and chairs. You can also rent items once you get to the beach. Good, warm water; easy waves; swam with turtles. Scandinavian Shaved Ice beside the big tree across from Hulihee Palace. Be sure to try their Lava Flow. It is so good.

  4. We were on the Dec 6, 2014 cruise and did not know about the port changes until we almost there. We were in Hilo from 3:00 to 7:30 (back on board). We had booked an excursion with Ken Smet of Marylou's Big Island Guided Tours to go to Volcano National Park, Thurston Lava Tube, Rainbow Falls and Richardson Ocean Park. We got in touch with Ken as soon as we could since our day and time of arrival had changed. When we spoke to Ken, he already knew of the change of itinerary. He told us that he was still available to take our part of six out at a lesser fee since our time was cut short. We immediately headed for Volcano National Park to arrive ahead of the large buses. We then went to the steam vents and Thurston Lave Tube. Ken joined us on the walk through the tube pointing out things along the way. It was already getting dark, but I asked if we could still go to Rainbow Falls. So he took on the “Twilight tour” of Rainbow Falls. It was beautiful. You could still see the falls, but the sounds were truly amazing—frogs singing. I was surprised to find out they do not have fireflies there. We were very pleased with this tour. His phone number is 509.690.816 in case your are interested.
