Hi there,

I am from New Zealand, currently on celebrity reflection going around western Mediterranean. We will be stopping in Nice, and some Spanish ports including Barcelona. I am wondering if I have purchased something which are qualified for VAT refund in France or Spain, do I need to do VAT refund in each country? Or I can wait to do it all together when I leave Europe from Rome?

Your post was recent, yet it noted a cruise in September "this year" (?) Is the cruise later this year or September 2018? In any event, we've enjoyed every port we've ever visited in Europe, but Amsterdam, Lisbon and Barcelona are among our favorites. I don't think you could go wrong with an itinerary that included these three. I particularly like the termination in Barcelona. We recently completed a 9-day cruise that ended in Barcelona; we tacked on 3 additional days and nights and these were the best of the entire journey. We wish we'd added yet another day (or maybe even 2).

Yes, it is going to be September 2018. The cruise is celebrity eclipse. When did you go on this route? We have just heard that it can be rocky this time of the year, otherwise the whole itinerary looks amazing

Yes, covered all of these ports several times, and crossed the Bay of Biscay many times- sometimes it's rocky; mainly it's not bad. We have had it just as rocky in the Western Med; once between Barcelona and France, where the famous pas de Lyons wind made it difficult to moor-in fact, some ships took a sea day instead. Autumn can be changeable in all of these areas. You'll be on a good sized ship with stabilisers, which removes much of the problems. Enjoy which ever you choose! :)

My husband and I are planing to take another cruise in September this year. There are two itineraries caught our eyes. They are both celebrity cruises, we had cruised with celebrity reflection last month from Rome in east med. one option is from Amsterdam to Le Havre to bruge, Lisbon, then Gibraltar, some Spanish ports and then finished in Barcelona. The other option is from Rome then Florence, nice and Spanish coast including Barcelona, then back to Rome.

We like both itineraries, maybe prefer the Amsterdam one more because most of ports are new to us. However our only concern is if the ship will get rocky on this itinerary, if so we probably better go on west med one. Has anyone been on this route, how was it?
