I am a last minute sail away cruiser, I am frugal, I am deplorable and an undesirable, ok you got me there. (but I paid my own way through college and would never think that some other tax payer should have paid college tuition for me)   However I dont bother anyone, I am respectful to the staff and other passengers.  You barely hear a word out of me, I do apologize for being in your presence to some degree but I cant stop cruising it is just to economical.  Sorry have a great day

We met alot of last minute cruise deal people that were awesome. One of them I'm now friends with on FB. Clearly not all last minute cruise deal people are like this. Life is not that polarizing. I bet you would have been awesome to hang with on this cruise and be just as shocked at these people's behavior.

Just curious-how could you know that they were “last minute cruise deal people”?

Without looking at their cruise payment information, how would you know what they paid for the cruise ?

Having good manners does not always equate with a person”s wealth.

They could have been booked n a suite that they reserved over a year ago, paying a hefty cruise fare.

An observation -IMHO- perhaps some of the obnoxious behavior reported in this thread may be the result of NCL’s open bar- unlimited drink policy.

My DH and I were on the Breakaway several years ago. There were passengers on that cruise that appeared to take the daily 15 alcohol drink limit as a  goal rather than an option.

I know because they told me, and everyone one else near them, multiple times throughout the cruise, loudly comparing how much they paid with other passengers. They also didn't have the drink package, again, I know this because they told me and everyone else near them. The one man also said he "made a good living." He said this after complaining that his wife shouldn't "bite the had that feed her." (he was such a lovely man) So It didn't seem to have anything to do with "wealth" From what they told everyone around them, they hop on last minute cruise deals all of the time and then expect to be treated like royalty. My biggest issue is that they were openly rude to the staff while paying almost nothing to get on the cruise and affecting others experience. Maybe this is the reason there are so many complaints that the crew is miserable. Because they have people screaming "hey buddy get me a mudslide" at them.....

  3. I’m just off the breakaway and it DID NOT work at all. Not on the when connected to the WiFi and even the purchased minutes. I also wasn’t receiving texts through cellular at sea. We purchased the $1O messaging part of the app and it would only work with me and my husband, We couldn’t add anyone in other cabins. They tired telling us we had to go on our purchased internet minuted to use it with people outside our cabin, which I thought was pointless. Save the frustration and just purchase the unlimited “steaming” internet.

  4. So we just had a similar experience with a few passengers on the breakaway. They were loud, obnoxious and extremely rude to the staff. Anytime they were near us they were so loud and obnoxious and they would butt into our conversation. They seem to always be around us. My problem is I’m on vacation and really don’t want to be confrontational. So we would always just try to change venues when they were around. Unfortunately it really did affect our cruise, and i’ll probably take a break from cruising for a while because of it. What I did notice was these people all seemed to be ‘last minute cruise deal’ people which I think is a bummer that these people are paying half what I paid and putting a damper on my vacation.

  5. We’re cruising on 5/5 and it also wasn’t available. I heard they’re getting rid of it but I haven’t heard what’s replacing it. I was a little bummed because I wanted to do it this time. It’s a pretty big space to just be empty so I’m hoping they’re putting in something awesome’

  6. I am a rule follower! But I'm also a smoker (I know how gross right?) I've never had an issue on NCL finding an authorized place to smoke, but on RCCL, there are so few options. If you're on deck 8 having a drink, you have to go all the way up to deck 15 or all the way down to the casino. I think if they had more authorized smoking spots, people would be less tempted to smoke on their balconies. But I guess we should be incovinenced because we're such horrible people for smoking. :halo:

  7. I was on the NCL Breakaway last week 5/14. The complimentary NCL ferry from Dock Yard to St George is operational. We used the ferry on the first and third days while in port. Third day schedule is one round trip returning one half hour prior to boarding time. This allowed us to spend a couple of hours at Tobacco Bay on the third day! We were assured that we would not be left behind if we showed up at the designated departure time. They reasoned that since there is just one round trip that they know exactly how many passengers take the ferry out to St George and that they can fit that many passengers on the return trip. Maximum capacity is approximately 400 passengers. When I asked what would happen if somehow maximum capacity was reached I was told that they were still working out the details but offered the possibility of maybe putting excess passengers in a mini bus. We still opted to get the two day Bermuda public bus/ferry pass and used it for the Hamilton ferry and for numerous bus trips.

Do you know what times it ran on day 1 and 2?

  8. Hi all, I was on the Gem last year and on sea days my straightener wouldn't stay on unless I kept hitting the power button. It was a bit frustrating. It worked fine when in port. Does anyone know a hair straightener that would work during sea days? Or if anyone has this problem on the breakaway? I would prefer to not have frizzy hair on sea days. :D

  9. So I'm currently in an Family Inside cabin (not because we have kids, but because it was the only mid ship left when we booked) and got the offer to bid on an upgrade to a balcony. So I put in a bid for a little over the minimum, $60 pp. So now when i price it out, I see balcony rooms are the same price as we paid for the Inside room. So I'm thinking of just calling them to see if they'll upgrade me because i'm afraid of getting all the way forward or aft because of the motion.

My questions is, should I just call and see if they'll upgrade me? Do you think they'll do it? They're selling balcony rooms for the same price I paid. Do I have a chance? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I'm cruising on BA on 6/4.
