  1. Was that drop on a cruise you had been watching? I've noticed different amounts depending on the length of the cruise but was not paying attention to anything specific when prices changed this summer.

The Oceania rep on the phone told me that the OLife benefit was going to decrease in value on July 1. However, when I looked at the website just now, the advertised package for the cruise we booked was the same as it was in June. So who knows?

  2. After paying for Oceania to make our air reservations, we missed the ships departure because of flight delays. Although not our fault, we incurred over $1000 in expenses from flights, hotels and transfers trying to catch up with the ship. We also missed two sailing days. Oceania assumes NO responsibility even though they make air arrangements.

I had wondered about this. It's good to know what the policy is. We would probably request to fly into the departure port's city a day early to prevent this from occurring. I suppose Oceania would charge us a fee for customizing the air travel, though.

  3. In general, O Life is a good value and we always take it (without the air).

Especially now as from reading here it seems that the cruise only fares have gone up since 7/1 while the O life fares stayed the same (for most part).

You can do a search on "O Life" and will get lots of info as it has been discussed extensively here.

Thank you for responding. The OLife fares may not have gone up on July 1, but I think they are less valuable now. The $800 credit dropped to $600, and the 8 excursions dropped to 6 if I am reading it correctly.

  4. My wife and I are considering an Oceania cruise in the next couple of years, and I've been reviewing some of their promotional material.

Do any of the Oceania veterans here have advice to offer on the OLife vs. Cruise Only fares? It looks to me like the OLife package is a pretty good value, but I'd love to hear from folks who have experience with the line.

  5. I can't find much about this ship and am thinking about booking a family cruise on her...

Many others have already replied here, but I'll chime in. We sailed in Dec. 2016 with our six kids and some extended family and had a good time. I wrote a detailed review a few days ago for this site but don't think it has been posted yet.

  6. My wife and I are considering an Alaska cruise in 2018 with three of our kids, who would be 15, 13, and around 1 at the time of sailing. In preliminary searches, I'm having trouble finding any oceanview cabins that sleep five. We found plenty on ships in the Caribbean, so this was a bit surprising.

Does anyone know of any ships doing Alaska sailings that have five-person cabins?

  7. I was on Norwegian's maiden cruise to Cuba May 1 on the Sky. When we arrived in Cuba, they called us to disembark according to our tour group, but each of us had to go individually through immigration at the terminal. Once through the passport stamping and metal detectors, there was an area in the terminal for changing money: probably a dozen stalls all manned by terminal employees. It went pretty quickly. There was plenty of time to change money before rendezvousing with the tour group downstairs outside the terminal.

    Hope this helps!
