I’m going to say 100% no. They have already invested probably millions and as I’ve stated on other threads - RFID tracking and retail analytics is the tech of “better get onboard or get left behind” your competitors. And sorry no major tech rollout happens smoothly. I am just trying to get a new office up (small 30 person office) and AT&T ”accidentally” reset the timer on my voice order and now delayed me by 6 weeks. Let me repeat that - super simple task. Small uncomplicated thing. 1 vendor idiot. 6 week delay. Cruise ship all new tech rollout/networking/security/meeting regulatory compliance - very complicated.

If people continue to share "unlimited" things they will continue to be taken away. The "sharing" of the coffee card is for the punches not to supply the entire ship with free coffee and tea.
-
For the Dec 10th sailing they listed excursions - they look like crap. I would start looking at private tours - check out the dec 10th rollcall to see what we booked.
-
It’s not a glitch - it’s special pricing tied to your account most likely on specific sailings that they are trying hard to fill. People have been getting pricing like this consistently.

You may want to call Princess and ask. What I can say is I was surprised at how advanced the facilities were and I was once on a princess ship where we did an open sea rescue of a very sick person that was on another boat and took them to Panama for treatment. BTW make sure you have travel/medical insurance that covers pre-existing conditions and a large evacuation allowance. They will evac you by air to first rate medical facilities if you need it.

Saving this. Will be on the Caribe deck aft on the Royal in a week. Will post afterwards. I also am super sensitive to environmental allergens/chemicals/etc

We took our 10 year old granddaughter to AK on Princess so she was a bit older than your child. We picked Princess because we figured that she would be interested in doing stuff at the kids club. She took one look at the activities and pronounced them all as stupid (her words, not mine). She also decided that eating in the dining room with a menu to select from was much better than pizza in the kids club. She also decided that she was in the ship to see Alaska instead of playing games inside in the kids club. She never went back and she had a great cruise.
DON
FYI your granddaughter sounds like an amazing little woman!

It seems an odd change to me. Many people order liquor for their cabin. I have to wonder if this will simply encourage more smuggling - which I would think Princess would prefer to squelch rather than encourage. Weird. Many times bizarre changes to company policies come about as a result of some bean counter who has no practical experience with the real world application of what they are messing with.
I have actually ordered vodka in the past but the selection of scotch that was offered was hideous. Scotch shouldn't have to be made into a mixed drink in order to get it down. As for Irish Whiskey - none was offered at all. Good thing all of my upcoming cruises were booked under the Sip and Sail so I can have my Talisker neat in the bar or, if so desired, can take it back to my cabin.
Frankly, I am more shocked they would let you buy bottles at all at reasonable prices ever (or let you bring wine for free/15$ bottle). I think even with "smuggling" they would make more making people buy drinks by the glass or forcing them to buy the alcohol drink package. Alcohol is usually the bread and butter for margin so I would think they would try to maximize that as much as possible

Really depends on your health. We have traveled and cruised for 30 years well over 60 cruises - never bought insurance until 5 years ago, I am 70 and my Dh is 85. We have never used the insurance, we only purchase medical and evacuation insurance because we have Medicare now. We buy an annual business travelers insurance to cover such incidents, we self insurance our trip costs. This has worked for us.
I wouldn't go by age - I slipped on some ice and fell down a flight stairs before a vacation once in my 20s. ANYTHING can happen. Or things can happen to your family or you pets etc. I get cancel for any reason and make sure I have enough medical/evac to ensure I can get air evacuated to a nice private hospital no matter where I'm at - which can be very expensive.

I am considering putting cash on my account for casino credit and putting extra just to have cash available if needed during the cruise (instead of hauling a bunch of cash with me) - is this a good way to keep cash handy? Yes, I will have multiple CCs and my debit card (which was once compromised literally the second I put it in a cruise port ATM - I got a text like 10 minutes later lol). I find I need a lot of cash (specially small bills) for shopping at ports.

I would probably just try back tomorrow - been lots of posts about things disappearing and then they just come back

Only sailing I've read so far. Life vest was needed on ours on the CB last Sept.
Sent from my iPad using Forums
This is what they plan on doing now and will eventually get around to all ships (I don't know why it would need to be tied to ***** but it may be - more video screens - better networking?)

Thanks for the patters and menus (soon!) been looking for some updated ones!

Ive never done UBD because I don’t eat seafood and generally don’t eat steak (I like my beef braised etc since I like it cooked through). I’m assuming UBD is not for me as there aren’t other options?

Hi everyone.
I'll be cruising for the very first time on Nov 26th, on the Crown Princess. Most of my questions have been answered scrolling through these forums or on the Princess website, but I can't for the life of me find any info on how meals work.
Can all meals be eaten' in the main dining room? Or are breakfast and lunch in the buffet only, and then supper in the main dining rooms if you want?
I don’t go to the buffet to eat at all. I eat Breakfast in the MDR (or room service), Lunch in MDR (or international cafe), Dinner in MDR. This will be the first princess cruise I have coming up I may check out the buffet since it’s the Royal and I’ve seen enough people say it’s better than the MDR. As a note: in port days I am off ship.

For the ice tea "fusions" are those sweetened/syrup-ed drinks?
-
I spend significantly more than 400$ onboard - I doubt you will have any problems. Tips, drink packages, tours, dining, spa stuff, shopping. lol.
-
We’re sailing soon and wondering about the drink packages. Are we better off buying them now, or on the ship?
The soda and alcohol package are the same on ship or before. There are options to buy bottles of water or beer beforehand in your cruise personalizer.
-
And we use the little bottles of Purell - both in HC and MDR after handling the menus. But there are those who do not consider that "hand washing" - as in soap and water for 20 seconds or more - - which is why I asked. ;)
Its actually the CDC that does not consider it effective. It has very limited application where it does any good.

Just want to say coolest thread ever - learned something new!

For 2 formal nights I bring 1 formal outfit. If I had 3 formal nights I might bring 2 formal outfits. So either 2 dresses or 1 slacks with 2 tops.

I actually was very surprised by the amount of items that had charges. I think it just looks bad from a marketing perspective as the main complaint I see these days is the move towards fee this/fee that.
-
If I had to listen to anyone practicing an instrument in a cabin/balcony near mine - I would probably lose my mind and get worked up into a frothing frenzy (with the exception of the bagpipe mentions - if they were good)

I believe "tracking" is an over used fear. I have not found any indication that any part of the crew will be sitting at computer screens watching the whereabouts of 3600 passengers as they wander around the ship looking for miscreants. If you walk/drive around any large city in most of the world you are tracked constantly by people who are actually watching screens. The ships simply do not have the crew necessary to do that.
The Medallion is not the first tracker, Disney has had it for years, and RCCL recently came out with their version. So if you don't want to be "tracked" you had better cruise quickly or it will be too late.
RFID “tracking” is THE hottest thing right now in retail and hospitality. That is it’s actual purpose! It’s not for the consumer - of course that is how they market it of course - can’t say it’s to track your every move.
For example, I went to a retail analytics talk and they plan on using it see how people flow through the store, what items they stop at, how long they linger at each. To decide things like: how the store should be layed out, what they should stock more of, how to increase sales in general, targeted ads/emails etc.
Princess can say it’s for “guest experience” but it’s for analytics. And that does not require someone to stare at a screen - they use programs.
