I was on this short cruise and have to say I was pretty disappointed. I was on the Explorer Bayonne to Bermuda/E Caribbean in June of 2012 and had a good time. The activities on this cruise were good: entertainers were pretty good, Royal Promenade is fun (disco party on first night), rock climbing wall, ice show, and the recently added Flowrider were great. But the food was pretty poor. First night's prime rib was skimpy, overcooked, and oversalted au jus, the crème brulee was atrocious (clumpy, and it's NOT difficult to make), carrot cake more solid than cake-like, and the melon at breakfast had been frozen. Perhaps they're trying to steer us to the specialty restaurants, or perhaps they just didn't care as this was a pre-season sampler cruise. This was my 3rd RC cruise, and I'm not sure I'd return. Princess does it better (sailed on the Royal Princess in December).

Thanks SuzieK and Shatom. I guess I wasn't set up to get replies by email, so I missed the boat (twice). My loss, but thanks for offering.

Are you set up to get email alerts when someone replies to your thread? Your previous thread had a couple of replies in September.
I guess I wasn't, but I am now.
Thanks HawksFan.

Anyone from the Seattle area going on the Conquest anytime soon? I have a favor to ask of you regarding a souvenir purchase.
Thanks.

Hello, anybody from the Seattle area cruising on the Conquest soon? If so, I have a favor: the ship photo mug I brought back as a souvenir from my 2006 cruise broke and I'm hoping you might get me a replacement.
Anyone?
Thanks,

That's too bad about Portofino's, as my family really enjoyed it.
Do the rock climbing wall and attend the ice show. Also, assuming you're sailing from Port Liberty, take a good look at the Teardrop Memorial next to the dock in New Jersey.

Princess ship models come up quite often on Ebay. They're usually not expensive as the models are rather small (approx. 6").
Good luck.

Looking for a model of RCCI - Monarch of the Seas - any ideas where to find an inexpensive one?
Would you settle for an old-style ceramic model of Monarch's sister ship, Sovreign Of The Seas? I got it off of Ebay and used it as a substitute for another sister ship Majesty Of The Seas (until I got a resin Majesty also from Ebay).

Dining Issues...Explorer to Alaska May 20-27
in Royal Caribbean International

It's really sad that the dining issues persist. I was on the 4 day PNW cruise prior and thought perhaps we were being short changed since it was just a sampler cruise. The crème brulee was a gloppy mess, the prime rib was thin and overdone, and the melon at breakfast in the WJ had been frozen. I was on Explorer in 2012 Bayonne to E Caribbean and don't remember it being this bad. OTOH, the Royal Promenade, rock wall, ice rink, and Flowrider were fun.
