I agree with you 100% on the Maitre D in Coastal Kitchen he was down right rude. We were in a jr suite and went at 11:30am for a reservation that night. He told me it's not possible since they are fully booked. I know the jr suite is subject to availability but at 11:30 to have nothing is crazy. I always cruise in a jr suite and have never had an issue. I asked to speak to a manager and he said none will come here to go to guest services. I was like wow never have I had that experience with Coastal Kitchen. I did go to guest services and talked to a head Maitre D and he told me no worries go at 6-6:15. I also let him know what I was told and how rude the Maitre D was. He said no that is not the way we treat customers at all. We went back at 6 and the Coastal Kitchen was empty. The Maitre D did say oh we had cancellations. Sorry your experience wasn't much better.

Last night at Teppanyaki at our table there was a man wearing shorts. Most men were wearing khaki’s.    

Docked in Curaçao today. My family is really enjoying the Odyssey. Crew is outstanding and you can see how hard they work. Food has been great the only thing not impressed with is the desserts. Which is probably a good thing. Lot’s of choices just nothing that I absolutely have to have. 
My family did Teppanyaki last night it was excellent!!   
I feel totally safe and happy to be on a cruise. Constant cleaning going on. In the buffet tables are turned over quickly with cleaning and sanitizing.

Your welcome!! At least you were able to rebook so that’s great. I really love the Odyssey second time I am on it.

My experience on her in Sept was awesome....both ship and crew.

I agree lower capacity definitely makes the difference. 

We made it to Aruba and we are cleared and can go off the ship!! Excited since this is my first time here. 😎 

A couple of thoughts for those interested.

1. Crew is outstanding!!! Very attentive and constantly cleaning.

2. Food wonderful. Buffet is open for din when I was last on it was not.

3. I don’t do shows so I can not comment on them. 
Still feeling very safe and happy to be on board 🛳

Tonight is a formal night. Not sure when the next one will be. 

Currently on the Odyssey that left January 15. 
1. Check in very easy. Coastguard was inspecting we boarded 12:30.

2. Great food so far. 1st night Chops and it was outstanding!! 2nd night Costal kitchen.

3. Crew going way above and constantly cleaning. I heard there was about 1,300. 
4. Room jr suite. Large and comfortable. 

5. Ship is beautiful and spotless. 

6. We stopped yesterday in Nassau from 8-4:30. We went down town to shop. 
7. Casino has a good amount of people but not packed.

8. 1600 approx guests. Not a lot of kids  have seen maybe 20. 

9. Everyone is wearing masks. I feel very safe and comfortable with the procedures. 
Not sure if I will be able to get on often but I will try. 🛳

I am booked on the Edge and have a question about soda. Do they have the soda machines that are self serve? I was on a Royal ship and they had them and we really enjoyed them. Its the machines that give you about 30 choices of soda. Also does any one know if you buy a package before you go can you change or cancel before boarding?

Are you saying you never bid, never asked, never anything and just got an upgrade? What did you start with and what did you end up with?

Sorry I had posted on a early page about the upgrade. I never said I did or didn't bid. Since the thread is about upgrade offer & receiving a message. I just wanted to let the poster know I never received anything from Ncl about the bid upgrade. It was just in my NCL account. I did bid I was in a bb and only bid on a h5. I bid $610 a person which was on the poor side. When I booked there was only 5 H5s. Hope that helps.

Our cruise leaves out August 26th. We just spoke to them last night about adding a person to our room and we asked about the upgrades. That is when he told us that they will make them unavailable. We have not received a message about being awarded the upgrade or not yet FYI

Just wanted to let you know I received a upgrade on Tuesday for a August 6th cruise. Never got a email from NCL. I looked in my account and saw the upgrade. First I checked the availability and saw from 5 H5s to only 1. Then checked my account and the upgrade was there.

Just checked my Ncl account and found I had won my bid for the Breakaway on August 6th!! Haven't gotten a email from them. I went from a BB to a H5. Bid was $610 a person. Which was in the poor range.

Thanks for the info I am really thinking not buying the pass for the spa. Why spent the extra $$$$ can use that for something else.

I just took a upsell from a Spa balcony to a Haven h5. I am sailing on the Escape in 2 weeks. Should I still consider the thermal spa pass or is the pool area enough in the Haven? I was on the Escape in January and really enjoyed the thermal spa a lot. Thanks for the help!

Thank you! The spa was our favorite place to just relax in quiet and read. It was the nicest of all the ships I have been on.

Not sure when the double certificate promotion began. It's a really great deal would be nice if they kept it up.

Not a big gambler, but if it's on the ship, I'm going to want to play Blackjack at some point. Do you know what the minimums are for Blackjack?

Minimum for blackjack was $6.

We are leaving this Saturday. We are going as casino guests. How many hours do you play each day?

I usually play about an hour and a half in the am. After lunch an hour or so. Then after din any where from an hour to two hours.

Thanks for the review crusie4fam. My first Norwegian was last year and I bought the certificate for $250. They didn't give me an option for two. I've seen that a couple times now. If you but two do you get to use it for each one of us on our next cruise or do we have to use if for two separate cruises?

This was the first time I bought 2 certificates. It was a deal for $500 get $250 on board credit. Paid for 1 of my spa passes plus $$$ towards the 2nd pass.

I already booked the Escape again but I book through the casino. The casino rep told me till April 30 you can use 2 certificates. I would think that would be a Ncl rule.

I was hoping early walk off would be "easy", according to all past Escape reviews. I was completely thrown off when I got downstairs at 730 am and had a line from the aft elevators wrapping around the dining room and didn't get out til 830. I wouldn't ever book a 955 am flight departure after cruising one of these megaships. We only made it because I have airline status and precheck.

Wasn't it nuts the line? I have never seen that many people doing walk off. It was very unorganized some people didn't know where to go. You are lucky you made your flight.

Any chance you have a picture of the beer menu of what they were serving in the district brew house? I know. Far fetched. LOL

Sorry I don't have a picture. I can ask my husband if remembers what was on tap.

I do know the left handing brewing company was out the whole trip. My husband was bummed about that.

As for as entertainment goes I am not much of a help. We don't do shows (I fall asleep). They did announce early on one of the shows was canceled do to a cast member injury.

 

I don't remember a Caribbean band like other ships had. I did hear a band by the pool but it was regular music. Also no BBQ by the pool like other ships.

The Manhattan room had a nice band at dinner.

 

I didn't go to the Latitudes party but I believe it was the night of Tortola.

 

I really enjoyed the Ossbuco at the Italian restaurant. Cagneys had lamp chops and they were excellent. In the main dining room I enjoyed the lava cake a lot for dessert!

 

We really enjoyed this ship and its crew was so nice. I hope you have as great a time as us!!

Great, thank you! I have also heard of Mountain Top and that appears to be free to get to, as in no tram up the mountain, is that right? Would the 99 Steps/Blackbeard's Castle and Mountain Top be doable in a day? I think we are in port from 8-6 on a Tuesday.

 

I am not much help on the walking up the mountain part my kids loved to take the tram up. My kids are 19 & 23 now so kid oriented things have been a long time ago for us. Not sure if you can do both as I don't remember the castle. My thoughts you get in like 7 am and don't leave till I think 7. Wish I could help more.
