  1. You can even use Facetime with your iPhone (to call anywhere in the world, not just family aboard the ship).

But don't you have to have cell service to FaceTime? I've read somewhere that you have no service while at sea?

  2. Do you have an iPhone? texting works over wifi if you keep the phones in airplane mode.

Yes, we have iPhones! So iMessage will work even in airplane mode? I didn't know that! I thought iMessages still used phone data/info!

  3. Facebook messenger and or Whats App are the 2 I've used over WiFi. Can also make calls too... Worked very well for us. Leaving the phone in Air Plane mode and only turning on WiFi... No issues...

I'll download WhatsApp then. My kids aren't allowed to have Facebook lol

  4. What app does everyone suggest for texting while on board? We will be on the Allure and have purchased Voom, but will only be able to use wifi for texting, as using our cell data would cost a fortune... I want to be able to communicate with my hub and kids (who will be on board as well). Not worried about communicating with anyone off the ship :)

  5. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through your trip :)

We will be on the Allure mid December. I notice on a few of the activities listed on the day planners, such as karaoke and comedy live it says adults only 18+. Do you know how strict they are on that? My son will be 30 days away from being 18, but he doesn't care much for the young entertainment. His tastes are a bit more young adult 18-20 year old range. I plan on just taking him with us when we go to comedy and karaoke and similar things, just wondering if I should be prepared for any problems. Thank you for any insight and help, and thanks again for your awesome reviews! I'm not done reading it yet, only on page 2!

This says 17 and under can get into the comedy shows as long as they are with a parent/guardian. I'm interested to know though, if they are 18+ for language or if they have suggestive themes that are just flat out inappropriate for kids? Mine are teens, but I can't decide if I should risk it and allow them to go. Maybe someone who has seen the comedy shows can comment?

  6. You used the word souvenir. Are you referring to those multi packs of different flavors of rum? If so, you will most likely get those through ship security and take back to your room. Bring a few quality plastic bags, pack in there and wrap in dirty t shirts, no need for bubble wrap. Have a great cruise!

Yes, just a gift for my brother! Maybe I'll look specifically at the small multi packs.

  7. The ship will collect it when you board. You'll get it back the last night. The airline will allow you to take it home, but you have to put it in your checked luggage. The gorillas (aka airline baggage handlers) that handle your luggage can be kind of rough, so make sure you properly pad the bottles.

I have I done it? Yes. Everything worked out great.

Thank you! I'll buy some bubble wrap or something then. I just wasn't sure if it were illegal to "hide" in my luggage LOL

  8. Allure has a three outlet round power bar that they built into the vanity table. It plugs into an outlet that is under the vanity. There is also one more outlet under the vanity. There is also an outlet behind the headboard for CPAP machines.

That should be plenty then! Thank you!

  9. DD has had both facials and a massage on board. However they cannot be prebooked online. We have always had to book onboard. There is a YSpa menu somewhere on line you can see the options but I don't think it shows pricing. We have always had to get pricing onboard.

Good to know! I thought maybe they just didn't allow minors. Thank you for replying!
