  1. Okay, they are supposedly having a Black Friday sale right now... but the Coco Beach Club price is $89. That seems quite high to me, but I have not been to Coco Cay. Is this a true "deal" or just them pretending? How much have others paid for this in the past? Thanks

  2. Yes. 18% is added at check-out.

Forget the wording. Look at the price. Do you see that everyone on this thread is only telling you the PRICE? Just look at that.

Nights of the cruise. (7 night cruise; 7 x daily cost of pkg)

Okay, then it looks like ours is $47 per day. I thought they were adding the disembarkment day, but if they aren't, then it's $47 per day.

    Thanks so much

  3. We are back from our cruise. Visited Nachi on Friday and had another great experience. We got there at a little after 10 ship time (9 local time) but there were already about 40 people there. We were led to a great spot in front of the second bar and restrooms that were added as requested. It probably filled up to about 100 people for the day which was the most that we've seen there. We had Joseph for our waiter (he's been there for 15 or 16 years). Had great weather for the day and the military was there using the dock to launch their boats and doing exercises at the abandoned building down the beach from Nachi. Liberty and Oasis were in port from RCI. Carnival had Dream there when we arrived and Magic showed up later. I think MSC Divina was at the downtown pier although I didn't speak to anyone at Nachi who was aboard that ship.

For my drinking experience...I mean experiment.... I started with a Margarita, then had 6+ (lost count) Dos Equis and then switched to Pina Colada's (3+) when we moved from the beach to the pool. Had nachos for appetizer and mixed fajitas for entree (both were great as always; fajitas come with a few pieces of chorizo that is wonderful). We left just before 4 ship time and I had a slight buzz maybe but that was all. Before leaving we spoke to Joseph about these reports and he got the manager out to talk to us. We asked if he had heard about any of this being said about their establishment. He said that he had not heard about it at all. He commented on how many years each of the staff has been there (he's been there 15 years, bartender 17 years, Manuel almost 20 years) and said that they have used the same liquor distributor the entire 15 years he has been there. He said other salesman come by but he trusts his guy because nothing has ever gone wrong. He said a few weeks ago some people came and brought marijuana with them and were smoking it on the beach and he had to go down and tell them it was illegal there and they needed to stop. He also told us that a few months ago a young lady that had recently got there seemed very out of sorts.... so they took steps to entercede after finding out that she did not know her traveling companion very well and he may have tampered with her drinks.

Based on our previous experiences and this one (total of 7 visits) I still wholeheartedly endorse Nachi. Seeing the same faces every time we visit gives us confidence in the beach club. It must be a good place to work and I would hate to see anything compromise the business they have built. I have yet to see any proof yet from these people who claimed to have been drugged. Did they contact local police? Seek medical help on the island or Ship? Alcohol can affect many people differently and the heat and humidity can add to those effects.

Again I go back to the 2 different story lines. The first is that there was prescription medication put into her food. If this did happen it may have been someone else messing with her... it reads like a bad mystery novel but with no apparent motive? I do believe for sure that she believes it happened that way but even she might admit that she didn't have her eye on the food all the way from the kitchen to her consuming it perhaps? The second story line that a few chimed in with seemed to be themed around having little to drink but powerful effects from it. These allegations came out of the woodwork after the reports from the mainland resorts surfaced and the first person posted about the drugs.. Before this the only really negative stuff I had ever seen anyone say about NC was that it was too quiet (looking for a party atmosphere) or they didn't like the food (ordered American food). In any case I did speak to the management which apparently is more than these others had bothered to do...

Thank you for your report/review FloridaCrazy :)

It's great to hear about your positive experience at Nachi Cocom

  4. Oh - I just checked and CC does not have private messaging. My name is on my email so I do not want to post that here. Suffice it to say no authorities in Cozumel were notified as it was all I cd do to get back to the ship. I certainly told other people on my ship when I returned but it was not the fault of Celebrity. And I told other professional friends at home when I returned. I have not read about this happening at this day resort before The doc on the ship advised me to see my doctor when I returned which I did. On Trip Advisor you can read about what happened at Playa San Francisco, another day resort. There are also a number of other people who believe they were somehow drugged at Carlos & Charlies, a bar there. I cannot say who did it, but it certainly happened to me. It could happen anywhere but seems to happen with more frequency in the Cancun & Cozumel area....at least people are reporting it more. It was at the beginning of my cruise & I was determined to not let this mess it up. Number one I felt stupid for eating there as I never do that. Number two, it made me feel vulnerable which as an independent strong female, was something I did not want to feel. It certainly has not kept me from cruising but you will see I cruise Southern Caribbean only now and tend not to go to Mexico. And my BF is with me. I wd go back to Cozumel but I wd make it a pool day on ship. Just not worth the risk.

Must have been so scary :(

Not sure I could convince the other 5 people in our group that this is a concern.

  5. I was at Nachi Cocum March 2016 and I was drugged. I am a middle aged female and had a reservation for just myself but had taken a taxi over with three other people. I had a pina colada & some guac (never even got to the other food) and within 10 minutes it was apparent what had happened. Fortunately I was able to immediately get a taxi back to the ship (Celebrity Constellation) although I was very much struggling. I made myself vomit and pieces of pills were in the guac. I had not eaten anything but a danish earlier, It took about 24 hours before I returned to normal. It was likely Xanax that had been crushed (I say this with confidence as I have knowledge of Rx meds because of my job). Since that time I have found dozens of people who have had similar things occur in Cancun & Cozumel at different day resorts and hotels and bars. My advice is to take your water off the ship with you along with a protein bar or some granola and do not eat off the ship. I was one of the lucky ones.

You were Drugged at Nachi Cocom? This is horrifying.

What was the outcome of your case? I'm assuming this was reported to the authorities?

Is there a link to a thread/discussion here on Cruise Critic of your experience when it happened?

Nachi Cocom is such a popular attraction in Cozumel and has been posted about here on Cruise Critic for years..

it seems like this incident/case would be huge news.

Please elaborate on the details of what was done about it... so that we can all be informed..thanks.

    Wow

  6. I was at Mr. Sanchos last year. If you're on the AI side, you'll be assigned a table with chairs and an umbrella or palapa over it. The lounge chairs themselves are in the sun; the chairs in cover are chairs you sit upright in. They do have the romance package where you are guaranteed a bed cabana. If not all the cabanas are taken by reserved romance packages, they're available first-come, first-served. The non-AI side also has tables and upright chairs with umbrellas.

For activities, you could rent jet-skis, there was a snorkel excursion where they took you out in a boat to a snorkel site, and they have the inflatable water toys to climb on ($12 extra fee for a wristband for those, I think.) Kayaks are included with the AI package, you just have to pay a $5 deposit which you get back when you return the kayak and paddles.

Thank you so much Kethry88 :)

    Much appreciated!

  7. *I searched and could only find a very old, outdated thread on this topic*

We went to Nachi Cocom several years ago and they had more to do back then, from what I understand (Jet Skis, etc..)? I have heard that they have done away with some of those activities?

I loved that we had Cabanas over our lounge chairs (for sun protection)

We are going to have some young people with us and we want to make sure there is plenty of fun stuff to do..so we are considering Mr Sanchos.

*My only fear is that we won't have a Cabana or Umbrella over our lounge chairs (I am very fair skinned and need some shade for at least part of the time).

For those who have been to both places lately:

Can you weigh in on whether there is a way to lounge in some shade?

Can you let me know what activities were available... are there a lot more at Mr Sanchos (vs Nachi Cocom), etc..?

    Thank you!

  8. Question:

If Busch Gardens is about 20 miles from the hotel we think we may stay at (Double Tree Westshore)....... does anyone know how much a cab would cost to go those 20 miles?

    Has anyone here done that?

We are wondering if it is worth it to go to Busch Gardens if a taxi may cost too much.

    thanks.
