  1. I just wanted to pass this along to those who may not be familiar with using the ship's wi-fi and this would have been helpful to me last month as a first time user. Especially if you are using it to communicate with your group on the ship. My experience was that every time we would go back on the ship after being in port all day that we had to go back in and reconnect to the wi-fi through the Hub app. It did not automatically reconnect us. Therefore if you are sending texts or FB messages to your group they will not be getting them until this is done on both sides. Or at least that was my experience on the Triumph. Happy Sailing!

  2. As the ship leaves the dock, the starboard side would give you the best view of New Orleans.

I believe it's the port side that would give you the best view of New Orleans. That's the side that would be facing the French Quarter as you go down river.

  3. On the Sunshine we used the "chat" feature and we were ones who had the problem that unless the app was open, we did not know we got a chat message. But we had the same issue with FB messages. The hub was still new then though. We just got off the Dream and avoided the chat program and just got social media. The FB messenger was a life saver! We had three rooms (same floor, but apart from each other), plus we all had some different excursions etc. So it was a lifesaver for messaging each other to figure out things like, dinner plans, meet up places, inside jokes..............:halo:.

Same for us. For my group FB messenger was also very useful as was imessage for those using iphones. I knew my son wouldn't keep the hub app open for it to receive messages so the social media plan worked very well for us instead!

  4. We all put our phones on airplane mode and got the social media package. I could imessage the boys to check in with them and we used that or FB messenger to touch base with people back home. I don't know how people using THEIR phones as cameras affects other people's cruises. If turning your phone off and locking it in the safe is what you like to do, so be it. For those who want to use their phones on the cruise, that's their business and there is nothing wrong with it.

  5. If you are wanting to visit the Mayan ruins you should check out the Triumph which cruises to Cozumel and Progreso. I have heard a lot of good things about the ruins excursions in Progreso. When we went to Cozumel last month we did Paradise Island and really enjoyed it.

  6. I cruised on the Triumph last month a few days after my bday and I received a little cake in the MDR, and a gift card for a free photo. I also had room decorations, a carnival photo album and a carnival beach towel in my room. I'm assuming my TA did that but there was no paper left stating who it was from. She did send bar cash and cookies from cherries on top and those both had the slips accompanying them so I'm not sure....

  7. I heard you have to be 13 years old and have charging privileges on your Sign and Sail card in order to use the chat feature on the Hub app...? Does anyone know if that is true?

I took 2 13yr olds on a cruise last month and we did not do the Hub app chat but did do the social plan. I gave my son charging privileges in advance but not his friend. When we logged into the app to use the internet, my son's friend could not log on. After visiting guest services I was told he did have to have charging privileges activated on his sign and sail card to use the features of the social plan so I'm assuming it's the same for the Hub chat.

By the way for those who have iphones, the social plan is a great way to communicate through imessage. Worked great for my son and myself. I knew he wouldn't have the hub app up to always get my messages but he would get the text notification. We initially only had the plan so his friend could communicate with his mom back home through FB messenger but it worked even better for staying in touch with imessage.

  8. By any chance do you still have the Fun Times for the cruise? I'm interested in what they do for the Dive In movies on the ship. We leave tomorrow to head to NOLA for our first cruise on Monday the 17th. We should be in Cozumel on the 19th, for our 20th Ann.

We're not doing any excursions, plan to just enjoy the ship and the close beaches/shopping, maybe a town bus tour, so we're interested in what there is to do on the ship.

    Thanks!

We are leaving on the ship when you come back on the 22nd! If you have any feedback please post when you return!

  9. The Marriott Downtown at the Convention Center is directly across the street from the Riverwalk Mall and an easy walk to the cruise terminal. Highly recommend staying there as the trolley also runs right in front of the Mall and makes it easy to get around if you don't want to walk!

We are leaving Saturday on the Triumph. We are booked for the All Inclusive Beach Resort Getaway in Progresso!
